John L. Ransom
John L. Ransom, who lived from 1843 to 1919, served as a soldier in the Union army during the U.S. Civil War. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Andersonville, where he meticulously documented his experiences of captivity and eventual escape in a diary. This diary was later published under the title Andersonville Diary.
