When creating the first episode of your podcast, it's crucial to clearly communicate the format and topic. You should maintain a structured approach and outline the subjects you'll cover in each episode. Additionally, audio quality is important to ensure listeners enjoy the experience. Lastly, it's essential to have a compelling hook that sets you apart and gives people a reason to listen. The speaker gives an example of discussing tropes and their own insights, comparing how different shows handle them. These are key considerations for a successful first podcast episode. Okay, so let's jump into this. One of the most important things when making the first episode of your podcast is just letting people know the format and what your podcast is about. No one's heard your podcast before. And the only way they're going to know is if you tell them. And you've got to do that by having your topic be very obvious and just, you know, you stay on that. And you've got to do that by keeping the format up and saying like, hey, these are what we're going to be talking about in each of these episodes. You need to have like some form of structure. Another big thing I would say is audio quality. And once again, I want to apologize because I couldn't get Audition to work. So I'm currently running my mic on Audacity, which isn't preferred, but Audition didn't want to work. So here we go. But yeah, you want to make sure like that you sound good, because if you don't, people aren't going to want to listen to you for an hour. And finally, another big thing, and one of the most important things when starting a first episode especially, is having a solid hook. You need to basically say why they should be listening to you over anyone else, because if not, then like there's nothing really, you know, making you seem more interesting than anyone. Like, for example, me and my buddy Dash, we're going to be talking about tropes and stuff, specifically the five-man band to start off with, and we're going to be giving our own insight on how we would create these tropes while also talking about how other shows, movies, whatever, have done these tropes good and how they have done these shows bad and yadda yadda yadda. But yeah, that's what I think is important when you're making the first episode of your podcast.
