Leo Major, a Canadian soldier, was a significant figure in both the Korean War and the Second World War. He received the Distinguished Conduct Medal twice, a rare achievement. Leo Major gained fame for liberating the city of Zwolle using grenades and Sten guns. He was awarded several medals, including the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Star of 1939 to 1945, and the Korea Medal. Today we brought a special guest on our show known as Leo Major and he had a really big part in the Korean War and also the Second World War. So who are you? I was the only Canadian soldier to receive the Distinguished Conduct Medal twice in separate wars. I'm from Quebec as well. Which wars did you fight in again? The Korean War and the Second World War. So why exactly are you famous? I liberated the dark city of Zwolle using only a sack of grenades and two Sten guns. That is very impressive. So what medals did you gain after that? I mean you must have gained some medals from that. Yes I did. I have the Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Star of 1939 to 1945 and the Korea Medal.
