The Horgessy Center is a state-of-the-art facility for collegiate volleyball, located near Allen Fieldhouse. Although currently quiet, it offers modern seating, a giant LED scoreboard, and a cool exterior with a mural. It is the newest sporting facility on KU's campus and was made possible by Stu Horgessy. With 2,000 seats and features like Terafix court material, it is one of the best volleyball arenas in America. The facility cost $12 million and provides a beautiful and enjoyable atmosphere for watching Jayhawks volleyball. The Horgessy Center is one of the best venues in collegiate volleyball. It is located right by Allen Fieldhouse in Hogland Ballpark, which makes it a very high traffic place. The Horgessy Center is a very fun place to watch a volleyball game. Right now, this place is pretty quiet and nothing is going on here because volleyball hasn't started for the next year quite yet. They play during the fall when football is going on. Inside the Horgessy Center, it is very, very cool. It looks like a very modern and state-of-the-art facility where people can come gather to watch the Lady Jayhawks play. There's plenty of seating for fans to enjoy the game. There's also concourse seating, which is very nice as well. They have a giant LED scoreboard that has all the stats on it, ranging from the score, kills, assists, blocks, and digs. On the outside right now, however, there isn't much going on. The team isn't in season and the building doesn't get used much. I'm observing from the outside by myself and seeing what it is like on the outside. Not many people are going in. The outside does have a very cool look, however, making it look very modern. Big white letters at the top of the building tell you what it is. They also have huge panes of glass that let you see inside into a big mural of volleyball players. This location is one of many sport places around Lawrence and it is one of the best looking ones as well. The Horgessy Center is the newest sporting facility on KU's campus. It was just revealed in 2019 to donors and staff. With the facility being so new, it presents itself as one of the most modern looking arenas in all of college volleyball. The arena provides the Jayhawks with a state of the art facility that was made possible by the facility's namesake, said Stu Horgessy. With the Horgessy Center being very new, there hasn't been much of a history and renovations to the place as some of the other stops on our trips. Right now, the facility won't be needing too many upgrades soon because of what it has now. The 30,000 square foot facility includes approximately 2,000 spectator seats, merchandise, sales areas, locker rooms, restrooms, storage, lighting, and sound systems and video display. These things were built into the stadium, making the stadium feel like you are in the future. Not many places in America have volleyball arenas even close to what KU has. They have also added features that even may go unnoticed by people like the new Terafix court material, which provides the women less risk of injury when competing night in and night out. The overall build cost the university around $12 million to make this the new home of the Jayhawks volleyball team. The Horgessy Center is one of the many great locations on our tour about Swartz and Lawrence. It is one of the most beautiful volleyball venues in all of college sports. It provides a great atmosphere when the Jayhawks are playing volleyball. The modernness of the building makes it a very fun place to relax and catch a game.
