CAPS stands for Center for Advanced Professional Studies. It is a program where students work on projects for businesses. It provides great opportunities for learning and career development. CAPS is beneficial for everyone, regardless of academic performance. The program helps students figure out their future careers and offers projects related to their interests. Dressing professionally is important in CAPS as it prepares students for the workplace. Participating in CAPS enhances job prospects and college applications. This podcast aims to explore CAPS further and help the host, Izzy, decide on a future career. Hey guys, this is Izzy. I will be your host for the ACAPS podcast and I'm just here to tell you a little bit about what CAPS is. So it stands for Center for Advanced Professional Studies and us associates, we go to different businesses and businesses give us projects to do when they're too busy to do those projects. So I'm just going to tell you a little bit about myself just so we can kind of get to know each other. How I got involved in the CAPS program is that some upperclassmen suggested that I should go out for CAPS and I thought it was something very beneficial to be able to get me farther within my future career and help me find a future career. With them saying that it was very beneficial for me, I got here didn't know what anything about what I was doing and I was very grateful for taking CAPS. It has gotten, it has given me so many great opportunities. You can do placements, tours, job shadows and being able to do these kind of things has been really beneficial and I think that everybody should join CAPS. CAPS is for everybody. It does not matter if you're smart or if you don't do as well in the classroom but everybody has something to learn from here. You can continue learning and CAPS is very beneficial in like in my own stance. But I kind of wanted to give you guys a good summary about kind of what CAPS is just so that you guys could learn about it and then in later episodes you'll get, we'll get more in depth with it when with interviews. The whole point of me doing this podcast was because it was something I found interesting and just kind of in the aspect of something that I wanted to do in a future career. I want to be a creative and find something that will help me with that and I think this podcast could help out a little bit seeing if I want to truly do this for a long period of time. And CAPS, what that is about is being able, they can help you with that, figuring out how to how to figure out what you want to do and be able to pinpoint it and normally your projects will be kind of around what you want to do so that you're more interested in it. When I started with the Center for Advanced Professional Studies, that is part of our pitch. We make a pitch like if somebody asks us for CAPS, we should be able to say a little spiel in the matter of 20 seconds telling you what CAPS is. It stands for Center for Advanced Professional Studies and where we go to, we get small businesses to give us projects to do when they are not, do not have the time for it and need a little help out from the CAPS program. Another big thing that we touch base on within the CAPS program is dressing professionally. We come to what we call the co-work space every day for two hours a day. We start at 1235 to 235 and you always have to dress professionally because you are working with business professionals. And this way is so that you can be treated as an adult, especially if you look good, you'll be treated like one and you better act it. This is a good way to get you jump started in your career and a lot of people say for jobs, look at the, that you have the CAPS program background and it looks better on your resumes and for when getting a job or even college applications. People like to see that kind of stuff that you're doing, going above and beyond and doing programs like this. Okay, but yeah that was a quick summary of kind of what was, what the CAPS program is. I'll see you here for the next episode, but my name is Izzy. Thank you guys for listening. Bye bye now.
