Two friends discuss their academic lives at UNC Charlotte. One is a sophomore majoring in creative writing and finds their workload manageable. They both enjoy a class called Composing Across Borders. The other friend is a junior also majoring in words and is interested in the variety of career paths available. They both developed an interest in writing in high school and enjoy it more than other subjects. They agree to end the recording and save it. Okay, now. Okay, I'm going to go out because the echo is because I am here. So, I'm going to let you go out. Okay. Hey, Ambrose, how are you? I'm good, man. I'm good. How are you doing, Sam? Good. So, I have a couple questions just on your academic life. First, I'm just curious on what year you are at UNCC, and also, like, what is your major? I'm a sophomore right now at UNC Charlotte, and I'm majoring in words. I'm trying to do creative writing and all that after leaving. Okay, nice. So, kind of going off of that, I was wondering, like, have your classes been stressful so far this year, and, like, has the workload increased since your freshman year? Actually, not really. I thought that it was going to be a lot because I'm only taking, like, words classes this semester. So, I thought it was going to be, like, a whole bunch for me to keep up with, but it's actually been a steady pace, and it's something that I'm keeping up with, you know. Oh, nice. Good to hear. So, since it has been a little easier than expected, have you had a favorite class so far this year? I like the 4201 class that we're in. The Composing Across Borders? Yeah. Okay, yeah. Yeah, I do, too. Do you have any reason on why? Well, it's a new experience and something else that I like learning about, especially when it comes to the documentaries about our international students and everything of that nature. Okay, thank you. That's all I really have for you if we want to switch. Yeah, going off the first question you asked me, I was going to ask what your major was here at UNC Charlotte. I'm also a words major, but I am a junior. I'll be a senior next year. Is there, like, a certain profession that you want to go into based off being a words major, like after graduation and stuff? The thing that intrigued me the most, actually, was the different variety of kind of pathways I could go. And, like, it is newer, so, like, I'm hoping, like, you know, with all of the talks of, like, technology and, like, the uses that we're getting out of these classes, that even more jobs will also open up. So, not at the moment, but just, you know, something along the lines that, you know, is, like, our major is just technology and writing. Gotcha. And how long have you, like, you know, doing stuff like this, like technology and writing and all that? It's probably, honestly, newer in high school. And in high school, I was more interested in math and science. But I don't know. I think math kind of got repetitive to me, especially after, like, taking the same classes. Like, I mean, obviously, they get more advanced, but same topics. So, I think writing, you know, kind of just always changes. You're always writing about something new. And as I got better at it, I enjoyed it more. And I also enjoy history more than I did when I was younger. I think I just kind of came as, you know, getting older. Yeah. Yeah, I hear that. High school is really when writing kind of, I started to enjoy it more, too, especially when COVID happened. I spent a lot of time at the house. I agree with that. Yeah. I would say that's probably when it switched for me as well. Yeah. So, look, we got an eye on the same things. I agree. I think we're good on the recording part, though. So, do I pause it or do I, like, stop it? I think you can stop it. And then I would just say you should check if you haven't saved. Okay.
