Hans from Washington shares his love for U2's "Beautiful Day" and how it brought positivity during his church mission in Honduras. He met his wife there and despite challenges, they got married and now have two children. They are both U2 fans and attended a concert together. The song represents their outlook on life - every day is a beautiful day. That was With or Without You on SiriusXM. I'm Hans from Stanwood, Washington, and I've been sharing five songs that I desire most. Thank you for having me, and it's great being here. Chapter 5 is Beautiful Day. It was October 2000, and I was serving a church mission in Comayuela, Honduras. I was currently living and working out of the office, which we were working with over 200 missionaries. One morning, my companion and I got into the van and started driving to the office. Elder Brown put on the radio, and in Spanish, the DJ introduced a new single by U2. The song began gleaming with light. The song filled warmth into my soul as I heard the lyrics, It's a beautiful day, sky falls, you feel like it's a beautiful day, don't let it get away. Living in Honduras, in a different culture, learning to speak not only a different language, it brought challenges to my feet daily. The song brought a positive insight that regardless, every day is a beautiful day. I met my wife of now 22 years in Honduras. My wife, Elvia, was also a church missionary, and Elvia is from Guatemala. We honestly didn't see eye to eye the first time we met, yet there was a feeling that I cannot explain, knowing that she will be my wife that I couldn't shake. I knew that if I go down this road, it will be hard and rocky. When I returned home from Honduras and Elvia back to Guatemala, we kept in touch. Each day that I could hear her voice made it a beautiful day. Regardless of the hardships in front of us, we did get married in Guatemala, and because of that, we had to wait 10 months before she could come to the United States. Four years later, she became a citizen, and now we have two beautiful children. I believe I converted my wife to be a huge U2 fan, which now represents Guatemala. My daughter likes U2, but she prefers the Gorillaz, which, hey, it's not a bad band to like. My wife and I went to her first U2 concert in Vancouver, BC on October 28, 2009, which was actually her first concert. After the Black Eyed Peas played, U2 came on stage. Regardless of who you were, your background, beliefs, we were all one enjoying the concert of U2. Throughout our lives, we have to deal with challenges, discrimination, and yet we look at every day as a beautiful day. If we do that, it will never get away. This song is to my eternal companion, Elvia. Te amo, mama Rosa. Te amo más que mi vida. Here is beautiful day from all that you can't leave behind.
