Paul writes to remind the Romans that he is called to proclaim the gospel to the Gentiles. He believed it was his mission to share the good news of Jesus with outsiders, regardless of the threats he faced. We are all called to share this news and bring others into a relationship with God. Prayer is the first step, as the Holy Spirit will guide us in sharing the good news. We should be willing and passionate about sharing the gospel with others. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotion for October 22nd, 2023. Today we will be reading from Romans chapter 15, verses 14 through 16. I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourself are full of goodness, filled with knowledge, and competent to instruct one another. Yet, I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me. To be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, he gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Paul writes of his own calling to tell the good news of Jesus to outsiders. He was convinced that this was the primary mission Jesus Christ himself had given him, and he devoted his remaining life to fulfilling that mission. Having been raised to believe that God was primarily focused on the Jewish people, he now knew that God was just as interested in everyone else. Paul was willing to face all kinds of threats from his own people in order to share that message with as many people as he could. Though we all are not called to do so to the number of people he did, we are all called to share that news with as many as we can. There are people all around you who do not realize God's desire to be in a relationship with them. They do not know of God's love or forgiveness for them. God has placed you in their life as one who knows that good news and is called to explore and discover the best way to share it with them. That begins with prayer, because it is the Holy Spirit who will guide you all along the way. The Spirit is working in their life as well and will show you how best to share the good news with them. The key question is this, are you willing to go share it? My prayer for you is that you will not only be willing to do so, but that you will develop a passion to do so. Today's personal worship option? Offer this prayer or one like it in your own words. O Lord who came to give us the good news, help me develop a passion to share your good news with as many people as I can. Amen.
