This 16th episode on A Step of Faith is titled, Start From Where You Are. My name is Greg Alabi and I am inviting you to come let us study the Bible together. When we want to take a step of faith into our journey to achieve anything significant in life, we must learn to start from wherever we find ourselves. But we must be very passionate about making progress. It is okay to start small but we should be worried if we continue to remain small. There is a huge difference between patience and time wasting. No matter what we intend to achieve, no matter how bad or discouraging the situation may look like, start from where you are. Convert that rottenness into manure to fertilize your plants. If everything had previously burned down, out of that ashes, God can create beauty. If nothing previously existed, let's learn from God to create something out of nothing. Where there is a will, there is a way. If we are too busy and no time, let us use few hours of the night, either late in the evening, early hours of the morning, or the middle of the night to do what we need to do. You need office space or you cannot afford to rent an office? Use your dining table for start up. No van or bigger vehicle to do what you need to do? Use that your little car for multiple deliveries. No laptop or computer? Then use your little cell phone, that's your mobile phone. No photocopier or office equipment? Use your phone to take pictures of documents and send them to yourself as emails. Or you go to a public library or a college or university library? No boardroom for meetings? Then tidy up your sitting room, your living room, and use your house or you meet up in a restaurant to discuss business. You can even get something not too expensive to eat for yourself and your guests. You can't afford to pay employees for start up? Be your own CEO and messenger for now. Have your family and friends to assist you as volunteers. No internet? Then use the data on your phone rather than using it on social media or entertainment. Just start with what you have for now. Start from where you are. But if you still believe that money is all you need before you can take the step of faith, may I announce to you that there are people out there with lesser resources who are accomplishing bigger things. The secret? Use what you have. Start from where you are, then show your seriousness about your step of faith. Now let us learn some valuable lessons from Jesus Christ himself. 1 John 3 verse 16 is our first lesson. It says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. The lesson? The plan is for Jesus to reach the whole world for God so loved the world. My point? It is okay to have a big dream. In fact, ensure you have a very big vision. Another lesson is in Luke chapter 2 from verse 4 to 7 and from verse 15 to 16. Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem because there was no room in the inn. The lesson? Although the ultimate vision is to reach the whole world to take a step of faith, we must start from Bethlehem, the hometown of Jesus. Start from your own hometown. Start from your home base, where you are. Notice that although there was no room in the inn, no space at the appropriate place for you to birth your dream like Joseph and Mary. Use wherever you find yourself. My point? Start where you are right now. If Jesus could start from a manger, so should we too. Third lesson is in Luke chapter 2 verse 22. After one week, seven days, Jesus was brought to Jerusalem for some religious ceremonies. The lesson? Use major occasions, major landmarks, milestones like the end of year, festive anniversary, birthday anniversary, Christmas time. Use them to take some major advancement, to make major advancement. Steps towards your goal. Step forward from the manger where you started from. Keep moving. Keep making progress to your own Jerusalem. Do not stay long in your manger. Fourth lesson, Matthew chapter 2 from verse 12 to 15. Herod sought to kill baby Jesus. The parents fled to Egypt. The lesson? In the time of danger, protect your seed, hide and preserve it for the future. Preserve it from destruction. Fourth lesson, Matthew chapter 24 verse 14. This gospel shall be preached all over the world. The lesson? Start from somewhere. One day you will go places. My advice? Think globally. Act locally. To take a step of faith, start from where you are. Start right now. Let us pray. We want to thank you for the things we have studied. You have been good to us. Give us grace to make good use of where we are in Jesus name. Amen. You may request for subsequent copies by sending an email to gregalabee at gmail.com.
