Whew, we made it to the New Year! As we take the time to reflect on this year, I want us to think about the ways we have gotten, to quote Shirley Prendergast, better and better. Shirely Prendergast was the first Black woman to be admitted into the United Scenic Artist union as well as the first Black woman lighting designer on Broadway. Her journey, much like many of the others I've addressed on this podcast, was one full of pivot, perseverance, and practice.
