Haftarah Portion for 08/12/2023

In Jeremiah 16:19-21, the prophet prays to Yahweh, recognizing Him as his strength, stronghold, and refuge. He prophesies that in the day of distress, nations from all over the world will turn to Yahweh. These nations will acknowledge that their ancestors followed false gods and that they have no value. The prophet questions why anyone would create false gods when Yahweh is the only true God. Yahweh assures that He will make the nations know His power and that His name is Yahweh. Jeremiah, chapter 16, verses 19 through 21 O Yahweh, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the nations shall come to you from the ends of the earth and say, Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them. Would a man make mighty ones for himself which are not mighty ones? For see, I am causing them to know, this time I cause them to know my hand and my might, and they shall know that my name is Yahweh.
