Hello and welcome back to episode 7 of Gentleman's Agreement. Today's episode, ZardNuts. As always, we got one of our favorite and also recurring guests, Creech. Thanks for having me back, boys. Absolutely. We love having you. Do you want to let the people know what we got planned today? Yeah. So we start off a little different than the previous weeks. We talked about golf first. Got a little update on what the boys have been doing in golf and just where we'd like to go with that. And then we do, as normal, talk about the Tigers. It was a fairly pleasant update. We are more in the optimistic side right now. Then we went to the draft, kind of did some grades, talked about players in it, how we thought the Lions and our personal teams did. And then we had a little game. I won't say little. It was a long game, but it was well worth it. An instant classic. It came down to a golden goal opportunity for Creech. And I won't tell you what happened, but it was Lord of the Rings quotes. So if you are a Lord of the Rings fan, this is the episode for you. See how many you can get. Then we closed it out on a review, as you can probably tell from the episode name, ZardNuts. We did a review of Guardians of the Galaxy. So just fair warning, there are spoilers. Not too many, but we do talk about what happens in it. So if you haven't seen it, probably don't listen to the very last 10 minutes. But besides that, yeah, enjoy. Sit back, grab some ZardNuts. Grab some ZardNuts. Maybe a drink. What are they drinking, Guardians? I don't know. Oh, they had like that earth blue juice, like Kool-Aid pop something. Drink that and enjoy the episode. All right. First order of business, we're going to do, I think, Golf instead of the Tigers. So let's get into that. Gentlemen, we went last Thursday. I know we missed a week. So let's talk about it. We went with who there, Jay? So we went with my cousin Bryce, my cousin Jared, Dee, Craig, and you. Yeah, myself. Overall, we played basketball and we went one over, probably? Yeah. It's good to play basketball when there's five guys. Yeah, especially when you go like 7.30 and the course is closed at, you know, 7 or something, or 5.30, we go to like 7.30 or something like that. Yeah. It kind of gives us that nice little window of kind of being able to not have to play too fast, but everybody gets their, you know, their shots in. Yeah, but not bad showing from the boys overall, I'd say. I mean, considering none of us are good and we went one over par, I understand we had, you know, five guys, but you have not seen us. We are not good. Hey, we didn't send any shots into the highway this week. We did not, shout out Ben, but we almost did kill somebody. We did. Yeah, we did almost kill somebody. I think two guys, I think it was you. Go ahead, Craig, tell the story. Wasn't it you and Bryce? It was you and Bryce at that mall. And yours was the other one because you went and grabbed yours. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, we were hitting back. We were into the sun, looking into the sun, maybe hole six or something like that. I don't know, but absolutely just sliced it to the right. Classic, classic Jared move there. And it, yeah, it got pretty darn close to some guys. It's kind of, kind of sketchy, but we had the 0-4. Little buff. Well, there's also that one on the 15th hole where there was like two or three, there was two guys on the tee box. Yeah, and they were just chilling, like this old guy. Yeah, and like his son. And we had to keep screaming four because. Like three times. And Bryce put it on a line right behind him. They had to duck. But they were super chill, so that's nice. Yeah. And we weren't trying to kill him. But you did salvage that hole, a nice little chip. Yeah, I'll tell you what, it was like, and the person who was very much like below mediocre at golf, we're getting there though, but I had a chip from the fringe onto the green and into the cup. That felt pretty insane. That felt pretty wild. I watched it like at the Masters and they do that probably every other like shot, but it's like, well, oh well. Yeah, that was nice. Was that a birdie or is that salvaging a par? I don't remember. That was for a birdie. It salvaged a two over day. Yeah, it was much needed. I think we used your ball the most too, so shout out to you. My guys were pretty on line that day. You were lining it up. Looking ahead though, the weather's getting real nice. I'll say that. I went golfing twice this past weekend. I went with my father and that did not go as planned. Did he get injured? It was so funny because my dad growing up, you guys remember watching the A-team over at Craig's house, remember? My dad's nickname growing up was B.A., B.A. Baracus. B.A. Baracus. Because he had a bad attitude and so that's, he had a bad attitude all the time. I thought his family was black. So it got to the point where it was like my dad duffs it off the tee box, and this is in one hole, walks out to it with his irons, tops it, goes 10 yards, walks up to it again, takes his wood out, no pun intended, smacks the ball, tops it again. It flies like six yards. He did this like five times and then he was just like, screw this, grabbed his ball, walked back to the car. He's like, I'm your caddie for this next hole. So that was at the Byron Golf Course, which for those of you that are listening to the podcast know where Byron is. Don't go there. It's not good. Don't go to the, I think out of the first like the front nine, I could only use my driver maybe three or four times and it was just a hot muddy mess. We were driving on the cart path and then all of a sudden there was just like a random like police tape in front of like a section and it was like. Cautioned off. Yeah, it was like work in progress and I was like, that is not a work in progress. That is like. That is a flunk. Like somebody chucked a hand grenade on their way, their way by down this cart path. But then we went to the much nicer Fenton Farms and I went out with my girlfriend's father and I almost died. I almost got smoked by a golf ball while I was riding in the golf cart. So I hit a drive and it was like 10 yards to the right of the fairway. So we're going to look for it and I'm looking out the side of the golf cart and I'm trying to find my ball because it was a lime green and all of a sudden I turn back to talk to him. The ball comes flying in and I don't know what it is, but I hear right past my face, hits me in the calf, bounces on the ground, hits her dad in the calf and we both stop and I'm looking right beneath my feet. There's a Calloway Super Soft, a real nice green one just chilling there and we turn around and there's like four college dudes like waving their hands and of course her father's not going to let that fly so he sends out some choice words like 50 yards their way on Fenton Farms. They drive up to us and her dad was like, well, PGA rules. Got to play it where it lies. Looks like you got to catch us and steps on the gas and I was like, no, no. Ball in the cart. Ball in the cart and I was like, no. He bumped the brake. He's like, I'm just kidding. Grab the ball. I grabbed the ball and I just flicked it out. That's great. Finders keepers. I tell you what though, we've never golfed there. I was one of the first ones to golf there. Fenton Farms. Fenton Farms. It's actually not a bad rate either. How much was it? We went on the weekend and it was like 30 something. For nine in a cart? For nine in a cart, but that's the weekend. I went to Byron on the weekend. 30 bucks. Stop. Byron is awful. Didn't they get new ownership too? Yeah. I know the owners too. Well, you can't even get a good rate for knowing the owners. I know, but I think it's like 26 on weekdays with a cart, I think, at Fenton Farms. So not bad, especially their course. It's phenomenal. But with the weather changing a bit and with a couple circumstances being changed here, we might be able to sneak out Thursday and get a few rounds in. We'll see. Maybe we can get some boys together and give a review next week on that. Why would you want to sneak out of your apartment? It has nothing to do with my wife. No, I got, uh, uh, we'll just say mold growing in it that, uh, the company, no, it'll be named Modernistic. The restoration crew doesn't want to clean up properly. So fat containment up here since last Friday, we're recording on a Monday, uh, have known about the mold issue for 10 days now and there's still mold in my apartment. So that is why I am trying to sneak out of here. Uh, thankfully we are able to record the pod today, but, uh, these guys are risking their life to be here. So I'm not going to lie. How long have I been here? A little over an hour. I can't even see you across right now. You're just across the table. My eyes are just straight up blurry and I'm starting to develop some shortness of breath. I thought you were speaking Spanish about 10 minutes ago. I couldn't understand you. Oh man. My students are going to miss me tomorrow. I don't want to get caught up too much on that, but, uh, what's, uh, it's getting better, gentlemen. Let's talk about the Tigers. Yeah. Tigers, 15 and eight. Yeah. Imagine no 15 to 18. They were just a little bit ago. I think 11 and 18, 10 and 18. Um, they just hit a five run, a five game win streak and, uh, it just got snapped on Sunday to the Cardinals and a very weird game, which we will talk about, but, uh, they've been playing better and they are a half game back from second place in the terrible rat bag division that they are. Who are they behind? The Guardians. And who are we playing tonight? Yeah. It kicks off a very important series against the Guardians. We, uh, are actually playing them right now. As we speak, we got it on the Tigers are up three, one, um, three, one runners on first and second, no outs. I will give the live updates again. Thank you. Um, but super important series, you know, if you take two or three from these guys, you'll be at second in the division and the twins, they've been kind of coming back down to earth a little bit. They're only, as we speak, three games ahead of the Tigers right now. I know it's completely foul of me to say the word winning the division and playoffs or anything like that, but it is way closer than you would think. So great. She will always be known as the more optimistic one in the group. I don't even like to use the word playoff or division because I know it's not achievable. I like to use the word 500 and mediocre. I want to just be able to watch them in July because for the last three years, I haven't been able to watch them in June. Right. I want to get to those months and right now, very watchable. A 15, 18 team that puts up runs. I mean, it's exciting. After your, oh yes, Krejci had a birthday party Friday night. We all celebrated and at the end of his party, Tigers were in a one score game and we watched Alex Lang give up a leadoff double and then strike out the next three batters and it was hype. Like it was fun to watch and like we clapped, got excited. The Tigers won a close game. We have somewhat of a normal looking closer, a really good starter that we should probably trade, but we just are fun enough to watch that it is on right now on a random Monday in May. And we don't mind it. Yes. That's the big thing. Yeah. Yeah. They're definitely watchable and like you said, that starting pitcher that we can trade. Erod has, we got to talk about him a little bit. He has been our best player this year by far. Maybe one of the best pitchers in baseball right now. Yeah. I would say definitely a top, top five pitcher in all of baseball and that is not something, hold up. Hold on. Riley Green double that might score two. Stay tuned. Oh no. It will update. It will not score two. The bounces that Cleveland has been getting is Haas. He scored one. So there's two outs for Riley Green on second. This is another big run potential here that Baez has to get him in. But we are up 4-1 now. Nice. But yeah, Erod, he's been... Real quick, pause on Erod. Speaking of sending the guy when you shouldn't, you had a little something you saw on Saturday night. Yeah. So Saturday, this weekend, they played at St. Louis at the Cardinals, who are typically a really good team. This year, they're having a bit of a down year, but still no walk in the park going to St. Louis. And it is 5-5. We fought back at the top of the ninth inning. We have guys on second and third, no outs. We proceed to, I think, strikeout. And then Jonathan Scope gets up and hits a pop fly no farther than 50 feet beyond first base. It's like in foul territory a little bit right down the first baseline, not deep at all. Like there's where the outfield grass starts and maybe 20 paces onto it from there. Like you would never in your right mind send a dude from third. What did the Tigers do? They send Ibanez. I don't know how fast he is. He doesn't look super fast. Maybe he's above average pace. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt. They catch the ball for the second out and then throw a nice throw to home and it's not even close. He's out by a step and a half. Gets tagged out and the inning's over and you're going to the bottom of the ninth and it's like, all right, they're probably going to score and we're going to lose. That was the game right there. Yeah, it was a back and forth game if I recall on that game, but you were watching that. I was listening live and Dan Dickerson is a very iconic name in all of sports radio, but especially in Detroit. I'm listening as I'm driving to a campground and I hear, oh, pop fly right field and they're going to send Ibanez and then two seconds later and not even close. Just he was, he was like, are you serious? And that's what I like about Dickerson is he'll be the first one to rip the Tigers. Like we, and Jim, I don't know what we're looking at there, you know, kind of deal. So what you're saying is that we are on the same caliber as Dickerson. I think so. We'll rip the Tigers like nobody's business. Yeah. And we'll cheer for them. Exactly. But back, back to E-Rod real quick. Did you say 0.57 the last five games? Yeah, he's, his ERA has been ridiculous. He, ever since, I think he, he started against Tampa Bay the first start of the year and obviously Tampa Bay is a juggernaut. I think they tagged him up a little bit, but since that start, he's done absolute money and a, a top five pitcher in baseball for sure. Yeah. Which is, which is awesome. It's always good to have, you know, Detroit's kind of been known for good pitchers in the past and it's good to have another good one. Problem is he's not going to stay because he has the option to opt out at the end of the year. And if he's anywhere smart, he would leave Detroit because we're not going to do anything. Even though Jared did say the, the P word earlier. Speaking of Detroit pitchers, I actually went and saw an old friend. Yes, we need an update. So I actually went and speaking of the Tigers on a win streak, I went to the day that they played a doubleheader against the Mets and I had no idea how well they were going to do because the game was on Wednesday, the Tuesday night game got canceled. So they had a doubleheader, one at 140 and the other at 640. I presume you just went to the one. I just went to the one at 640 after work. So we went through like some like fundraiser at my girlfriend's work. So they paid for our tickets and obviously you can imagine there's probably not many people dying to get in a Tigers game at six o'clock on a Wednesday. So I had seats, 10 rows behind the Mets dugout. So I am like when they called Scherzer off the mound, he is walking directly at me and I chirped this dude the entirety of the four and a half innings that he pitched. Like obviously for those of you that don't know, he's coming back. He came back from a like a couple games suspension from using the sticky icky on his fingies to get some of that spin and rotation. And I think fellas, I think he was struggling real hard. We did pepper it all over the field. We peed off on him. Yeah, I think he gave up six on us. Yeah, six and three and a third. But like you said, I noticed right away a couple of his breaking balls just hung there. They just spun and just didn't drop at all. And we just, you know, off the wall, off the wall. It was not a pitching battle. It was like they were putting balls in play. And I mean, it was, I mean, honestly, it was a really enjoyable experience. I think they should lower the prices on some of the things in the the old Comerica Park. Yep. I bought like... How much did you pay for a glizzy? So I paid like eight or nine dollars for a pool of sausage. And I was like, this is so expensive. And I saw their bags of peanuts for like five bucks. So I was just mowing through peanuts the entire game. It was great. And those glizzies are typically lukewarm at best. And Tigers are not adhering to the beer sales thing. What did they cut it off at? Like the sixth or the seventh? I thought it was the seventh. Some teams moved it to the eighth. Yeah, this guy's walking down at like the top of the ninth. He's like, cold beer. He's like setting it down and shelling stuff out. The Tigers probably cut it off in extras. That's their policy. We do go to an L. But yeah, I did see that your girlfriend posts about it and I messaged her and I said, I need you and Jake to be going to more games because you're way more lucky than I am. We were winning. I think Craig said that was the most fun, like most watchable Tiger game he's seen in a while. It was great. Like we controlled. It wasn't like eight to one or something. It was something. The reason I said that is because it was Scherzer. He did it against like an old Detroit Tigers pitcher who's really, really good. And it's not like he's coming off an injury either. He's just coming off using illegal substances. It's not like Verlander's situation. And Verlander did better than him. Yep. They had a dude on the Mets. Oh no. Number 32. What was his name? Update. 4-2. Justin. Justin Ramirez. Ramirez just tattooed a ball. Would it kill us just to intentionally block him every time? I bet you that's what Indians fans used to say when Miggy walked up to the plate when they were the Indians. What were you saying though? They had a dude. It's 32 on the Mets. I talked to him about you. This man's name is Daniel Vogelbach. Oh he's huge. He's huge. He's 21 years old. That's what got me. What? He's 21 years old. You sure that wasn't a typo? I'm not even joking you. Homeboy was 21 years old. At least that's what it said on the big screen. I was like I know that guy's hilarious. Like he's a baseball meme. I did not know he was 21. He's 30. Okay so then they definitely had it wrong. Okay never mind. They said he was 21 in the picture. Yeah he was born in 1934. Okay so Detroit got it wrong. Hey shame on that Detroit crew for leading you astray. And I know for a fact I was not because I remember sitting there looking at him and looking at his picture and I was like two like he said he was born in 2001. I was like what? There's no shot. Oh man that's hilarious because he is a massive human being. He's young. He'd be younger than all of us. He's an upside down Dorito walking out there out to the plate. Then again I don't know exactly where you guys are but I do know um Torque and Riley Green are younger than I am. He feels weird. Really? Isn't that weird? Yeah. Torque looks like he's 30. Yeah. Well it's weird now even looking. He looks like the next Bond villain. Yeah. Like watching college football now it's like all these guys are younger than me. And way more athletic than me. And I look at like the Georgia lineup where like all these dudes are like you know absolute men and could probably kill me. And I was like oh these guys are like 19 20 years old. Professional athletes are just built different. Which is why we talk about them because that's as close as we'll get to being professional. Hey I bet you we're better at golf than them though. Did you guys see the golf classic matchup this year? I think it is Steph and Klay um against who? What is it? You guys remember those golf classic matches? Yeah yeah. Yeah yeah. So it's Steph and Klay. Patrick Mahomes is running it. It's Mahomes and Kelsey against Steph and Klay. Geez. I got the Splash Brothers. I think Steph's actually really good at golf. And so is Mahomes. So it's going to be Klay or Kelsey. I think Kelsey would just turn it into a show. That would be something fun to watch though. I bet you Kelsey can drive a ball so incredibly far. I was watching it. DeShamo. I was like bored and I turned down one of the old celebrity matches that were being played on like you know they would just do like a round. And like I'm watching like Bill Murray who's like I don't even know how old. He's like late 70s now. Walks up like just like an absolute pure stroke down the middle. I was like who are these guys? And like I was like holy smoke. Speaking of NFL, do we want to hop to NFL now or do a game now? Um let's do the NFL game. Okay if we're going to talk about the draft, I just came to realize this. It's not in our notes, but did you guys see James Drozd made it to the draft? Yeah and I loved it. He walked up and he said Eagles what happened? And he and then he announced the next two things. I just think that's awesome that he he got so famous just from doing his own reviews and made it to the draft night where he got to announce a draft pick and make fun of the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah you gotta be devastated as an organization to watch that happen. I'm not gonna lie. How would you feel like if you are like picture you look you go all the way to the NFL draft. Okay you're sitting there all the fans are super pumped and like the fans that go there these are the diehard fans. Oh yeah. Okay and not only that but you have Philly fans that are like Philadelphia fans are the most like intense and hostile like will chuck batteries at you as you're walking off the field. How do you think well personally if it were me if I'm that diehard of a fan I travel all the way to Kansas City and I'm a Philly fan and this is gonna sound bad. I feel like you're looking for a fight if you do that. But an autistic kid comes up there and is like Eagles what happened? I would be like chucking a battery at that kid. Not autistic Downs or whatever. I think he has Down syndrome. I would be livid. Yeah but then again if you were that fanatic Eagles fan you know that is like that I think you're going to KC looking to fight a lot of you know for it being in KC. The most vile comments were probably spewed from that crowd. Thankfully most of them were KC fans. Yeah exactly. Credit to James Jones though that's cool. It gave me a laugh every weekend during the football college football. He's punching the punching bag. Didn't they cancel him for a little bit? How do you cancel that? I don't know but he made it back. Speaking of going to the draft where's the draft next year? Detroit. Do we need to go? Should we do a live stream? Live stream? Gentleman's agreement? At the draft? Kind of like Zuma does for the call of duty. Just be off in a corner. Is it always a Thursday? Always a Thursday. First round. Maybe I'll call ahead. We'll make it happen if we need to. I mean I don't know when the draft will ever get back. The draft may never return to Detroit. But if all of our teams are like picking late. I mean the Packers might have a top eight pick. So will the Colts. What am I saying? So will the Patriots. We're screwed. What's the Patriots at? Patriots got a good grade on their draft. Okay speaking of drafts. We can kind of talk about our own teams. Let's start with the local team though. Let's start with the Lions. I think we can all agree. Disagree if you need to. Our initial reaction is Jameer Gibbs was not what we wanted. But then we kind of like slept on it. Gave it some time. You know he kind of got comped to Deebo. That's kind of what I pictured. And I just kind of was fine with the pick. Because I'm at the point where I'm going to let Brad Holmes do his thing. Is that where we all are? I would agree with that. That was my initial reaction. I kind of like let out a little chuckle. I was like like on my couch. I was like no way the Lions took a running back at 12 when there's all these you know high-end defensive players on the D-line that they could use. Jalen Carter was still on the board with me. Yes that's another one. But I do see why the Lions didn't pick him and they talked about it a lot on the radio. We just had James Williams get suspended in six games. I think the last thing we wanted to do was deal with another person that could possibly get suspended in Jalen Carter. Some people were like and so we so we get the running back from Alabama and then we trade Swift. What is it? Like the day after. So it was clearly in the words. And people are like oh Philly got a steal out of that. It's like homeboy was like it's like it is a miracle if he's on and ready to play for a quarter of the season. Yeah. And it's like yeah he was he was decent but he's not like a versatile quarterback or not quarterback a running back like he could run it down your throat but he couldn't do the you know bounce it outside catch it outside the the tight end. And an injury prone running back you got a third and a seventh for him. That's great value in my opinion. He was he was going to be gone after this year anyway so you might as well trade him now and get some value out of him. And it made me also feel better about the Jameer Gibbs pick. Like okay they had a plan. I like this running back room you get Gibbs with David Montgomery who they signed this off. Who's good? I like David Montgomery. He had a bad there's a line. That's a nice nice running back room and just watching a little more on Gibbs here. Watching him I turned on a couple games the one that comes to mind is the Alabama Arkansas game where they're they were down Alabama was down and in a flash they were back up again because Jameer Gibbs had like two really long touchdown runs. He and the SEC every time I watched Alabama he was the most athletic fastest person on the field in the SEC and that's worth noting. Yeah he's a he's a really good back and he didn't have to even pick earlier like that people did for B. John Robinson. Didn't he go to he went to the Falcon Falcon up at eight. Yeah the stats were oh yeah saying Kamara is like the closest like equivalent that they could see is like a Kamara. Yeah which is good you know Kamara I thought Debo maybe he's not as fast or maybe I don't know maybe not as physical good at running routes but Kamara we all know Kamara he's really good. Just without the personality. But yeah it's not the point though you you let Brad Holmes cook and you trust him because he's earned it he's had two really good draft classes his first two years. Yeah I think I like I like the Jameer Gibbs pick more than Jack Campbell I just Jack Campbell I understand like the highest comp you could ever give him is Luke Keegly but. Did he give us a meme just for Dan just be like yeah. He drafted some. Yeah. Not a guy with less. They got to be related right. Because yeah they have to be. Is this nepotism within the Lions? Because all I can ever think of is Blake Korm meeting him in the C-gap and he just didn't touch Korm. Yeah. And Korm walked in the end zone and there are running backs that are faster stronger shiftier than Blake Korm. Yeah. I love Blake Korm but it's the NFL. I worry about Jack Campbell and when you have to drop back and cover cover Jameer Gibbs I know they're on the same team but covering like a Jameer Gibbs that now with a Kamara out of the back. NFL is all about speed. Yeah and matchups how in the world is he going to stay with. So we'll see how it plays out. Yeah. I think he'll be solid no doubt but. He ain't no Micah Parson. At 18 a little bit of a reach. Yeah. So he'll be an interior linebacker obviously. We want to give like a quick two cents on each of our teams so Colts, Packers, Patriots. Sure. We just want to go through that. Fire away with the Colts. How's that save? Um I hated it at first. Clearly they had a way better draft read as did the rest of the teams on Anthony Richardson over Will Loves. So I'm not mad anymore that they drafted him over Will Loves because. He marinated a little bit. Yeah. I had to look I had to think on it and if no one else wanted him clearly he wasn't good. People saw something glaring. Yeah. On the Raz score or whatever. So whatever. We have him now. We needed a quarterback. I did not want Minshew all year because that's just another band-aid. So now we have a guy drafted. Maybe he's the next Jalen Hurts. You don't know. That's very optimistic obviously. I don't think he'll be that good. But. I have to start calling you the optimist. Yeah no. Because I still don't think he'll be good. But you know maybe the next two or three years the Colts will actually put up a statistic that says you know we had the same starter for three straight years. Maybe that's all I care about for the Colts because we've had a different starter on opening day the last seven years. So I want him to start opening day. I do not want Minshew. He can learn from Minshew in OTAs and he can learn from Minshew in the preseason. But I want Anthony Richardson thrown into the fire pit right away and I want him. Make your errors early. No one no one's going to judge you. I mean do your thing. Yeah everybody's going to judge because that's what everybody does. But I personally am just going to be like okay you're a young quarterback. Learn. Go out there. I have zero expectations. I hope they lose a ton of games again and get another draft pick. Yep throw him in the deep end and see if you sink or swim. Yeah but I'm not in the camp of oh well we got a veteran quarterback. He's got to sit. Yeah that's if we're trying to make a run. We got a veteran quarterback just who's a good backup. I like Minshew as a backup. I do not want him to start. No way. So besides that all the other players yeah whatever. We'll just see how they pan out. I didn't really pay too much attention to the third through whatever round. So but Anthony Richardson obviously the biggest splash. He was number four overall. So yeah but Packers did make some money moves themselves. Yep Packers with that newly acquired 13th pick from the Jets went and got Lucas Van Ness the DN from Iowa. Kind of when I when they were there I was hoping my my honest hope was for Jackson Smith and Jigba's name to be called because that would be the sexy fun pick. But I don't hate it at the same time going with Lucas Van Ness. You can never have too many defensive ends and pass rushers and big strong fast dudes because that's what wins you football games. So don't hate the pick and he's definitely a project pick though. He's not going to start right away and it'll take a year or two to get him to his full potential which I'm fine with because we are not going to be winning anything in the next year or two. The Packers will not be winning the division. No the Packers. Here's a stat for you. The Packers have the worst odds or that sorry the best odds to finish last in the NFC North for the first time since 1990. I don't think we were alive. No I for sure wasn't. Maybe Daniel Vogelbach was. He was born in 92. But it's been a minute since it's been a rebuild and I think it's time to accept rebuild mode. Time to lose some games and get some quality players build up that roster. I think you both have had your fun. Yeah. Jake especially. So what would you give them a grade wise? Probably like a B or B+. It was a solid draft. Couple tight ends. I don't know why they went with two tight ends but they definitely needed to address the tight end position. The one pick I'll say this as much as I disliked him while he was at Michigan State because he was very annoying but he's a very good player. The Jaden Reid pick in the second round. Yeah he'll be good. He could be like a. He could high point a lot of ball. Yeah maybe like a Randall Cobb kind of player in the slot. He's fast and shifty. So I like that. He's a good ball player. Yep. So overall I would say Patriots were like I would say after watching their last season I would say they had issues with the offense. I would say that wasn't necessarily from a talent perspective. It's coaching. Let me ask you this. How many offenses are successful when you have two offensive coordinators trying to call plays against each other? Besides Michigan not many. Well A the one downside is you have Matt Patricia as an offensive coordinator. I don't know why Belichick loves Patricia. So that's your that's your first blunder as if you're the Patriots organization. I think they got him out of there now. Is he gone? He's gone. He is now the Philadelphia Eagles D coordinator and cornerback Darius Slay is with him again. If you remember those two had them falling out and that's why he left Detroit was because of Patricia and how they hated each other and now they're back together on the Eagles. So it's like you had Joe Judge and you had the blunder that is Matt Patricia but you have like we had Patriots during their prime were really known for like their defense specifically like in the back or in the quarterbacks or the cornerback positions obviously with like Gilmore and stuff like that. We were actually able to take we took like a little bit of everything. We took a punter, a kicker, our obviously our main overall pick was Christian Gonzalez the cornerback out of Oregon and then also Keon White from Georgia Tech who's kind of an edge rusher. So defense was kind of our biggest kind of liability. Teams were running up the scores on us and we were able to score as an offense. Everybody but the line scored on you. Yeah. So basically like those defensive backs were our biggest issues and then our offensive line with the other kind of major issues. They kind of spent their last couple picks on like wide receivers kind of pulling from some of those but they love the Michigan teams out there as the Patriots. They've got Bryce Berringer from Michigan State, Amir Speed from Michigan State, Siddie Sow, offensive lineman from Eastern Michigan. I haven't heard of him. They love the Michigan teams from over in the and then they got picked up one guy from Jackson State which we'll see how he pans out from Deion Sanders, Coach Prime. How do you how do you guys think he's going to do? What did I see that he's 40 kids have left the program? Yeah you know like 47 or something. They left like the because there's an open and a close at the portal isn't there? Yeah I think it's you know. I think you can't enter it. When you get there yada yada he could do that and then you can do it for a bit right after spring practices I thought. And every but all those guys left. Last I checked it was like 28 guys entered the portal for Colorado. It's some absurd number. I gotta pull up. And then shortly after the portal closed. Yeah I don't think Colorado will be good this year but I think he's changing the culture certainly. Yeah and the reason I don't think they'll be good this year not even so much that their team is bad but it's who they play. I'm going to read you Colorado's first start to the schedule. First game at TCU. L. Next game home against Nebraska and then they play Colorado State. That's a Matt Rule they'll lose. And then they're at Oregon and then they get into PAC-12 play but you got Oregon, USC, UCLA's decent, Washington State, I don't know but Utah. They'll lose to the Cardinals. But look at that early schedule. They get TCU, Nebraska. We know Nebraska is not a powerhouse by I mean but it's not like they're playing. They'll be compensated. They'll win. Nebraska will win just because they'll have a new coach as well and they have better athletes. Yeah. Certainly better athletes. There's a very real chance that Colorado could be one and four. Is Colorado, Colorado State a rivalry? Yeah I think so. Big one? Why is it week three? I don't know if it's a big one but it reminds me of like Iowa, Iowa State. Yeah yeah it's true. We always make money off that game. There's a good chance they could be one and four going into their fifth game and then you're starting to be like all right is this Deion guy? You know the players might lose interest. Do you think he's all talk? Do you think we're actually going to see some because I'll be honest it's probably not that hard to turn to a get popular athletes when you're playing in like the what the Sunbelt League or whatever the heck they were in and dominated that kind of level play but when you're going against the real big boys up in the you know big boys. Yeah it kind of it kind of it kind of boils down though. You're playing how different college coaching is at the at the highest level. At that level you're not going against high school coaches that are doing it for their local college on their off time. Now you're going against you know multi-millionaires that are coached at their sole job. Yeah I think it'll be interesting to see. Yeah definitely. We like the Eagles. They basically drafted the entirety of Georgia's lineup. I mean and why wouldn't you? I mean they got Jalen Carter. I mean what did they get him at 10? A murderer. Or 9? They move up to 9? They moved up one pick and got him and I mean yeah you gotta get him. He's gonna be good. He's gonna be good and if you can just get him to pay attention and they got his boys. They got Nolan Smith. They got his boys from last year. They got his boys from last year too on the team. He was the super big guy. Jordan Davis. Jordan Davis is still there. He was bros with him. Like it'll definitely help and stay focused. He definitely will. And he's a freak. Like he was still one of the highest rated players in the draft and they got him for a steal when they did. Then they got Nolan Smith who is a really good linebacker just injured. So will he you know there's always that injury tag but. And not to mention Kaley Ringo the cornerback who had the game-winning pick six against Alabama in the natty a couple years ago. Just a little cherry on top. And then you know Swift wasn't part of the draft but he's still you know if he's healthy which they're assuming he will be. He's a good back in the league. He can run with Miles Sanders and I forget the other guy's name but Hurts is a back as well. So we'll have like a three-back system going which will you know it'll be good. The the Eagles will I think be one of the favorites to be in the conference championship. Them or the Niners. Well well. Watch out for the Lions. Watch out. Detroit. But did you see Dan Campbell? Did you see him get punched in the kidney when Brad Holmes was excited. The video of the Lions' war room after they drafted Jameer Gibbs is great. He can't look like fist bumping dudes in chess. But last kind of big free agent news. A boy Lamar. Yeah. He finally finally got his bag. Him and his mother the attorney or agent. The Jackson law firm. I finally got him paid. I don't remember the logistics of it but it's a nice chunk of change. More than I'll ever see in my life. His kids and his kids kids and his kids kids kids will be set for life. His hair is looking funny too now. He's got that always full blown fro going I think. He's got a fro. Yeah. Yeah. So he's an acrobat. Colt 45. So he and John Harbaugh are just continuing the marriage here uh at least another couple years. That disgusting looking offense that they run. Yeah I'm happy for him though. Yeah you've always loved Lamar. He's a fun little guy. You love his interviews. Yep he's uh I really can't see him playing for anyone else besides the Ravens. It's kind of been there for quite he's been there four or five years now and it's kind of like his world there now. And that is the thing he's always got them in games whether or not he's clutch or not that's to be seen but he's always got them in a close game. Last year they were kind of known for blowing a couple games early in the year when he was playing like they got a big and gave up what was it the Dolphins on a crazy comeback. Yep that was a wild game. I thought there was another game too but yeah I mean he's always fun to watch. He did screw me in fantasy last year so shout out Lamar there. But I just want to say my first two quarterbacks in fantasy last year which we will have a full-on fantasy episode. My first two quarterbacks were Trey Lance and Lamar and neither of them made it. Who did I end on? Who did I end on? Uh it was you made it to the top you were top four in the league with no you made it to the championship. I made it to the championship. You made it to the championship game with nobody. It was the Jets was it Mike White? Was he the guy who did that? No. Mike White. Okay. Was it David Jones? I had Danny Dimes. I had a lot of quarterbacks. I had Deshaun Watson, Danny Dimes and I was asking them because I remember playing you in the semi. I think I played Jake in the semi and I was asking them to do better than Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Like physically they should have put up better numbers which they did which is so weird to think about when you slow down and say Danny Dimes and Deshaun need to put up better numbers than Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Who was the MVP last year? Yeah the year before. Yeah. How bad is that? You sucked for me this year. Yeah. I'll never forget it. Didn't you end up getting that one seed regardless? I think you were the one seed. I held the one seed for quite a while. I think going into the playoffs you were. Yeah I was. But we will get into fantasy because we are all very frustrated about a certain thing in that but that is for a different time. Well idea down the stretch. Come time for the new fantasy season. We can do a podcast. Live action in person podcast. Oh yeah. Of all the picks that we do. I think that could be. Yeah we need to definitely get all the guys together. For the draft you're talking. Yeah yeah yeah. We'll do a little update. We'll keep you in the loop. Yeah. We do. Actually might as well say it now. We're going to Clifford's bachelor party this weekend that we are all in. We're going to Cedar Point and the punishment for our fantasy football loser does go to my cousin. He either had the choice to do the blazing challenge at B-dubs or run a 5k in a costume. Due to certain circumstances he ended up choosing the run in a costume but won't be able to be down. He works up northern Michigan so he won't be able to be down where we live for a run. But he is in the bachelor party as well. So we will have him walking around. I just got this confirmed from Ben's wife. Ben did in fact win the fantasy. So he is picking the costume. I am informed that he picked a unicorn with a hat. Oh yes. Like the llama skin. He will be walking around in all day at Cedar Point. Look at the weather. No. He doesn't ride rides either does he? So he's just going to stand there all by his lonesome. All the boys go on the ride. He's going to be sitting there in a lava costume. Live update. Home run Ibanez. Hey. 5-2. Heck yeah. No. 5-2. Yeah. Let's look at the weather real quick and then we'll hop into the game. Hop into the game. Absolutely. Let's look at Cleveland's weather. And on Saturday high of 67. Low of 58 and some rain. It's only bad for the dragster. They put you on every other ride and the dragster doesn't exist. So we're fine. He won't be overheating too bad. That's better than like an 80 degree and booming sun on you. He can't wear it into the park. He needs to make sure that. I don't know if they'll let him in if he wears it. Put it in a backpack and slap it on. Or one of us just like stuff it in our shirt because they open up the bag and it's like why is there a unicorn thing in here. I feel like they wouldn't care. I don't know man. People from Ohio are weird. Yeah you're right. That is a valid point. Stuff it in the undies and walk on through. Stop. Okay gentlemen. We have a game. And I wanted to stay on the route of quotes. Okay. From movies. Lord of the Rings. It is Lord of the Rings. This is Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Okay. There are no. I wouldn't even say that. One of them might even be from the Rings of Power. I have 78 of the best Lord of the Rings quotes. What are we going for? Why is it 78 every time? This is off a parade. So we're going to do 18 again. So nine a piece. Okay. And whoever has a better score after that. So got it. Keep track of the scores and how many we're at because I'm not. Who wants to go first? Insert epic like music for this. Shire music. Oh no the uh. What's the song where it's the. Oh yeah in the Shire for the uh for the birthday party. Yeah it's like flaming red hair or something like that. Okay are we ready? Sure. Mic in hand. Mic in hand. Your first quote. Okay. Even the smallest person can change the course of the future. Do the Gandalf the Galadriel. Gotta go Gandalf first. The Galadriel. It is Galadriel. I love it. You are right on though. Are you ready Craich? Yes sir. Your time will come. You will face the same evil and you will defeat it. Fine. Nothing's coming to my mind. Can't really picture anything. I'm good boys. Um pretty wise. It sounds like you'd be like Pippin and Merry. Yeah. Intelligent being. Please tell me there's one by Smeagol in here that just sounds absolutely wild. I will talk like Smeagol. Say it one more time. Your time will come. You will face the same evil and you will defeat it. What is it Elrond? Is that your answer? Yes. It's Arwen to Aragorn. Oh dang. I was on the elf train. Uh zero zero. Jason. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold it would be a merrier world. If more of us. Is that Bilbo? If more of us. Read it one more time. If more of us valued food. I didn't say anything. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold it would be a merrier world. I'm going Bilbo. It's Thorin talking to Bilbo. I can see that scene though. Wasn't it when he was dying? It would be a merrier world. It certainly isn't when he had dragon sickness. That is true. So it had to be in the third movie. Yeah. Okay zero zero still. Jake and I have an absolute barber. Oh there's just so many more like prominent characters. That old speech kind of saying you don't have Yoda with this distinction. Yeah. All right fire away. Okay. Ah that's a laugh. He's looking for a more prominent character. I am. I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone. Arwen. Yeah. Stupid that was easy. Okay. I like it. Jake. Okay. This quest stands upon the edge of a knife stray but a little and it will fail to the ruin of all yet hope remains while the company is true. Is that Gandalf? It's Galadriel again. You just started guessing Galadriel a little. But in the end it's only a passing thing this shadow even darkness must pass. Samwise Gamgee. Yeah. Jake are you ready? Yeah who made this that James guy? What happened? May it be a light to you in dark places. Are you fighting you purposely pick out a Galadriel? Um great what is the score two one? Yes. Okay I'm reading these quotes I think some are from the book so I'm trying to stray from them because I don't even know some of these. Um do the potatoes cook? Um You can do a visual quote. A couple of these are so easy. Insert potato. Um it's a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small thing such a little thing. What is Boromir the favorite son? The ring has awoken it's heard its master's call. Hold on. Galadriel. Gandalf. Yes. Yes. Ever since I was like it's gotta be in the intro I'm thinking. All right we're at three two. It's a dangerous business Frodo going out your door you step into the road and if you don't keep your feet there's no knowing where you might be swamped off to. Bilbo Baggins. No it's Frodo quoting Bilbo Baggins. Still three two. All right four two. No. Um okay. Jake. Jake do not trouble your hearts over much with thought of the road tonight maybe the path that you each shall tread are already laid before your feet though you do not see them. Jake. This quote rings no bells. Say it one more time. Do not trouble your hearts over much with thought of the road tonight maybe the paths that you each shall tread are already laid before your feet though you do not see them. Is it Elrond? It's Galadriel. Stupid. You should be an absolute troll. Um um okay. You are the luckiest the canniest and the most reckless man I ever knew. Say it again. You're the luckiest the canniest and the most reckless man I ever knew. Gimlet? Yeah. When it's not everyone comes back from falling. Let's go. Are you ready Jake? Yes. Are you looking on your phone? Texting my girlfriend. Uh-oh. For the time will soon come when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all. The face he's giving us. I wish you could see. Say it one more time. For the time will come when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all. For the time will soon come when hobbits will shape the fortunes of all. Do I dare say it? Galadriel. Let's go. Four three. Yeah something like that. Um. Um. There's no way Galadriel had this many lines. It's not like how many people care about what Galadriel says. There hasn't been a single Aragorn quote. Oh there has. There's heaven. Just say and my foe. Who is that? And my ox. Uh you cannot hide. I see you. There is no life after me. Only death. Sauron. Yes. When in doubt follow your nose. Technically two people have said this quote. Gandalf has said this and then Bilbo also said this as well. Correct Gandalf. Uh is it five four? Hey I'm trying to cover my cover my tracks and I know Bilbo also says it but he's quoting Gandalf as well and Gandalf also exclusively says it. Gotcha. I can avoid being seen if I wish but to disappear entirely that is a rare gift. There's our Aragorn quote. Six four. All shall love me and despair. All shall love me and despair. All shall love me in despair. And despair. Is that Galadriel doing the thing? Like the that thing? Is it Galadriel? I never understood that. I don't know half of you. Half as well as I should like and I like half less than half of you. Half as well as you should. Oh Bilbo. You are getting lost. A wizard is never late Frodo Baggins nor is he early. You will find more cheer in a graveyard. Give me. I can't say it in my voice. Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgment even the very wise do not see all ends. Is that Gandalf as well? Yes. Are we at seven six? We'll do first to nine. First to nine. Okay. Um. Let me look. Let me look. There can be no trust between hammer and rock. That's from the Rings of Power. It's the dwarf dad. Or. What was the dwarf's name? Are you looking the subject? No. Vermeers is up and we have. He popped out don't worry. Oh he did. Light work. Your answer. Seven six. First to nine. I can't remember his name. I'm gonna have to pass. I don't I don't know his name. King Durin the Fed. If you would have said Durin. I wouldn't have given it to him. All right seven six. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clear. Those were the stories that stayed with you that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. Say it one more time. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. Is that Sam? It is Sam why seven seven. We're tied. You're running out of cards. Jared an avalanche can start with one stone. Boy I'll even show you a picture. What's the picture? It's a guy. That can ring the bell. Oh man what is his name? It starts with a T. Is it like Tiberius? It's not Tiberius. Uh-oh. Oh the tiger's just. Okay we made the catch. So he's still in school. Wow what is his name? Is it Tamiris or something? Farazan. I knew something. Jake nothing is evil in the beginning. Nothing is evil in the beginning. Still seven seven. Nothing is evil in the beginning. It's Eladriel again. Uh Jared if we didn't do everything we weren't supposed to do. No sorry if we didn't do everything we weren't supposed to we'd hardly do anything at all. I'm gonna say that's like a Merry or Pippin quote. Maybe. Sounds like you feel good to me. If we didn't do everything that we weren't supposed to we'd hardly do anything at all. Stop doing your voice. Okay this one's a little harder than the last one. It is eight seven. You need this. I know. Did you see how Zbilla was arrested? And did you see how Zbilla was arrested? I did. I did. I did. I did. I did. I did. I did. I did. I did. It was a speeding violation. How does the boy reach the pedals? He drives? Yeah. Uh give me Mary. Nori Brondifoot. Oh my word. That's wild. You should give him his rings of power Garmin. Beauty has great power to heal the soul. Sure sounds like Eladriel to me. Beauty has great power. Beauty has great power to heal the soul. You told me to glad you had the chance. It's Eladriel from the rings of power. Oh. Right on the tippy of my tongue. Oh man. Okay. We'll go to some easier ones again. The board is set. The pieces are moving. We come to it at last. The great battle of our time. Gandalf. Eight eight. Now are we saying if you get this you win? Or does he get a chance? Alright. It doesn't matter. As for your speed. Okay. Potatoes. Potatoes. Potatoes. Nine eight. You shall not pass. Gandalf. Um. Fly you fools. Gandalf. Gandalf. The old world will burn. In the fires of industry the forest will fall. A new order will rise. Say again. The old world will burn. In the fires of industry the forest will fall. A new order will rise. A new order will rise. It's no bad thing to celebrate a simple life. It's no bad thing to celebrate a simple life. Stumpkin. Hey Bilbo. It is. A real easy money. A real easy money. Thought that one was gonna get you. Now I'm done. Yet such is off. Yet such is off. Yet such is off. Yet such is off. The course of deeds that move the wheels of the world. Yet such is off. The course of deeds that move the wheels of the world. Small hands do them because they must. Small hands do them because they must. While the eyes of the great are elsewhere. While the eyes of the great are elsewhere. Honestly I might go with her. Say it one more time. Yet such is off the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world. Yet such is off the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world. Small hands do them because they must. While the eyes of the great are elsewhere. We got out of the ending by the way. Elrond. Yes. Is it? Yes. No shot let's go. Okay I'm running out of quotes. This day does not belong to one man but to all. Let us together rebuild this world that we may share in the days of peace. Here everyone. Okay. Give me the hardest one again on there. Give me the hardest one again on there. Give me the hardest one again on there. Give me the hardest one again on there. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um.
