If you haven't, it's this old movie from the 60s starring Burt Lancaster. Now, it's a real-life story, and it's about this inmate at Alcatraz that adopts a bird and how it changes him for the positive. Now, this episode really reminds me of that old movie. That's one I really loved. So here's some history. In 1975, in a state mental hospital, an inmate, just by accident, he adopts this injured sparrow. Now, the success it had in changing this inmate's behavior made the authorities look at the possibilities of a program like that. Now, fast forward to today. All 50 states, all of them, now have animal programs in their prisons. In this episode, five women of the Paws in Prison program, they join me, and they talk about the amazing changes it's made in their lives and the dogs they're training. These really strong women, they really, really own their past. And because of this, I think their future is going to be even brighter. I love this episode, and I'm absolutely sure you're going to love it too.
