In this podcast episode, Esther talks about the importance of putting in the work and being patient when it comes to building a successful online career. She discusses how instant gratification and the desire for quick results can hinder progress. Esther shares examples of students who quit or become impatient, emphasizing the need for dedication and perseverance. She encourages listeners to compare themselves fairly to others and create a plan to reach their goals. Esther also highlights the significance of patience and the individualized pace of success. She concludes by urging listeners to do the work, be patient, and stay committed to their journey. Hey, I'm Esther, and you're listening to my Help Me Work Online, Esther podcast. I'm a military spouse, mom, and full-time traveler. I've helped hundreds of other women design a virtual career they love. And now I'm here to help you too. I'm the CEO and founder of Virtual Assistant Internship and have been running my own six-figure online agency from around the world. I'm going to show you how to create a virtual career beyond the scams, call centers, and network marketing gigs. So, get ready for legit online job options, resources for every type of remote worker, guest experts, and inspiration of women working online around the world on their own terms. Welcome to your new go-to resource for unapologetically ambitious women serious about working online. In this episode, I will be going over a major issue I see with my new students or followers. It is the number one inhibitors to their success in working online. And today, I want to expose everything just for you. Here we go. I have noticed an unfortunate trend amongst my new students or even followers, and it's this. You want all the goodies without doing any of the work required to get there. Some would say it's a millennial thing, but I would just say it's a generation that has instant gratification in the form of Amazon Prime and phone games built to make you addicted to the dopamine they provide your brain. There's apps like Uber and food delivery. We never have to wait for anything anymore. I purposely have had to help my son learn how to entertain himself in car rides, at meals, or waiting places without a gadget because they are just so readily available now. And I see what an important skill, self-entertainment, and imagination is that's being lost on future generations. Our patience to learn a skill, practice, practice, practice, and get better over time than get paid for our awesome skills has gone away. I see this in my 90-day VA students. They join the program, and some will see how much work it is just to qualify for the online jobs, and they just quit right then. They don't even make it through the first two modules. Some will do those first two modules, then they'll get bored, and they'll start chasing some other online income opportunities because, you know, putting in a few hours and not being able to suddenly make 30 per hour online just wasn't fast enough for them. Some students will start up strong and do a chunk of the course, get an initial job, and think they're okay for a while. But in a few short months, they think it's all of a sudden time to start trying for jobs that are double their current rate, or they want to ask all their current clients to double their rate with them. Both issues are cut from the same cloth. There is a whole lot of work and patience missing up in here. You're going to have to buckle down and do the work all the other girls that you look up to had to do. I don't really want you to compare yourself to women that are way ahead of you, but if you're going to play the comparison game, girl, then play it fairly, all right? Because they paid the money. They took the courses. They did the work, cried and got frustrated, but then kept getting up and doing it again the next day, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. After years and years, this adds up to what you see now. But there's no overnight successes, no quick fixes in this life. Nobody got lucky. And while some things like coming from a wealthier upper class home can be very helpful, they still had to do the work too. Nobody was born with skills. So set yourself up a plan to get where you need to be and stop making excuses of why it won't work for you or avoiding the work with busyness and procrastination because it can always show up like that too. This might look like blocking out two nights a week for two hours each to do your work or even just a Saturday morning. Take it seriously. Enlist family and friends to help you if needed. Now, patience. Patience is one of the most underrated skills you can cultivate. Just like I have to teach my son how to entertain himself without a gadget, your brain may struggle with having to be patient to reach success. With the time it's going to take to get from where you are now to where you want to be. Some girls in the program get a job in a few weeks. Some take a few months. But let's get a little perspective here. Some girls also buckle down and get the course done in two weeks like a crazy person. Some have prior relevant work experience. Others have kids and a full-time job. Still others, they're single, living at home, maybe they're just in school part-time. Everyone is coming from a different place and at their own pace. The point is you need to buckle down and do the work at a pace that challenges you personally. We believe two to five hours a week is doable for everyone, which is why we've kept the program the way it is. But you know yourself best. And if it's 10 hours a week or three for right now, just pick something you can stick with. And when you get off track, just come back. All right. So my biggest takeaway for you today is do the work and be patient. Your success is at your own pace. You can do this. It is not a race. But we are all rooting for you. If this helps, I would love if you would DM me on Instagram, Esther underscore Inman, and let me know. I would love to hear how your online skills, up-leveling, and your job searches are going. We'll talk more then. That's all for now. See you next time. Don't go yet. I have a surprise. Thank you so much for listening to our new baby podcast. It's been an exciting venture for us.
