Emily and her girlfriend Sam are answering questions from fans about Emily's fanfiction. The fanfiction is from Mr. Darcy's perspective and focuses on his insulting proposal to Elizabeth. Elizabeth rejects him and explains how his behavior was disrespectful. Darcy learns from the experience and accepts defeat. Emily faced challenges in coming up with ideas but used the original story as a base. The universal theme is that arrogance leads to rejection and loneliness. The fanfiction is similar to the original but from a different perspective. The structure of the narrative was inspired by the original and was meant to create an awkward and tense feeling. Initially, Emily wanted to make it a lesbian version but changed it to focus on Darcy. The story evolved during the writing process and the final product was different from the initial concept. The podcast is live every Friday at 3pm. Hello. I hope you're having a good day. My name is Emily. Today, I'll be joined by my girlfriend, Sam, who will be reading questions that you guys have sent in in response to my last assignment. If you're a fan of my voice and you'd like to hear more, please make sure to follow the podcast. I go live every Friday at 3 p.m. Thank you. Before Sam says literally anything, before Sam speaks, I'm going to give you a summary on what my fanfiction is about. My fanfiction starts from the point of view of Mr. Darcy when he's asking Elizabeth to marry him, but the way he does it is very insulting and condescending because of her status, which the disrespect from him ultimately leads to her not only rejecting him, but reminding him that she would never marry him even if he were the last man on the planet. The initial rejection took Darcy by surprise, considering he didn't view his confession as demeaning but rather truthful, but only after Elizabeth explains to him how offensive and arrogant he has been acting leading up to this moment, it gives him a sense of clarity, and instead of pushing on the matter, he accepts defeat and takes as a learning experience to better himself as a person. Were there any challenges or obstacles that you faced while writing this narrative? How did you overcome them? I struggled a lot with coming up with just any idea in general, but when it came to writing my fanfiction, in order to resolve that issue, I just referred back to the original story and I just used that as a base to build my story from, so it's... Okay, I'm just gonna stop at that. That's it. I have nothing. I have nothing. That's all I did. Go on. Okay. Alright, second question. What universal theme did you want readers to take away from your narrative? How did you work to convey that universal theme to your audience? Altogether, I'd like to show everyone that arrogance and feeling entitled gets you nowhere but rejected and alone, and I showed this by giving an example of what will happen if you try confessing while being annoying. Next question. Interesting. Okay. Next question. How different from or similar to your original selected narrative text was your fanfiction narrative? Why did you make that choice? Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. You see, the dialogue is similar to the original. I switched it to be in the perspective of Darcy instead because I haven't seen a version of that before. That is... It's pretty much like the same thing. It's just a different perspective. Next question. Okay. How did you decide on the structure of your narrative? Did you consider other options before deciding on that final structure? I... I... You know what? I followed examples from the original to help me to create my narrative, so I tried a lot of different moods and themes, but in the end I just landed on a more awkward and tense feeling for the whole thing. Next question. Okay, okay. And how did your ideas for the narrative evolve during the writing process, if at all? Did your story change significantly from your initial concept to the final product? Well, you see, my initial idea was to make it a lesbian version of the original, but then I realized I just did not have the talent to do that narrative justice, so instead I just turned it to a different perspective of Darcy instead. Any more? Any more questions? No, no, no. That's it. That's it. Oh, that's it? That's it? Okay. Yeah, that's all the questions. Thank you, my girlfriend Sam, for joining this podcast. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Like I said, if you like my voice and you want to hear more, maybe Sam, because she'll probably be back. I go live every Friday at 3pm. Thank you. Goodbye.
