The transcription recounts the final moments of Ichabod Crane in Kitteritown, who was pursued by the Headless Horseman. Ichabod tries to reach the church bridge for safety, but the Horseman throws his head at him, causing him to fall and be trampled. The story concludes the retelling of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Rubin. The speaker thanks the reader and creators of sound effects and music, then wishes everyone a happy Halloween. Happy Halloween to all our fellow travelers out there. With the deafening chill of autumn seeping into the pastures of our lovely campus, it's time again to recall the final moments of poor Ichabod Crane in Kitteritown. An avid spiritualist, even Ichabod's psalms and superstitions were enough to save his neck from the undying legend of the Headless Horseman. But then again, it's time to see where this led him. And what brought Ichabod to his end. An opening in the trees now cheered him with the hope that the church bridge was at hand. The wavering reflection of a silver star in the bosom of the brook told him that he was not mistaken. He saw the walls of the church dimly glaring under the trees beyond. He recollected the place where Brom Bones' ghost competitor had disappeared. If I can but reach that bridge, I thought, Ichabod, I am safe. Just then, he heard the black steed panting and blowing close behind him. He even fancied that he felt his hot breath. Another convulsive kick in the ribs, an old gunpowder sprang upon the bridge. He thundered over the resounding thing. He gained an opposite side. And now Ichabod cast a look beyond to see if his pursuer should vanish. According to rule, in a flash of fire and brimstone. Just then, he saw the goblin rising in his stirrups and in the very act of hurling his head at him. Ichabod endeavored to dodge that horrible missile, but too late. It encountered his cranium with a tremendous crash. He was tumbled headlong into the dust and gunpowder. The black steed and the goblin rider passed by like a wind whirlwind. And with that comes the end of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Rubin. I'd like to thank the voice of our reader today, Lily Gates.
