Deforestation is harmful to the environment as it leads to the cutting down of millions of trees every day for paper, wood, and furniture. Using electronic alternatives, recycling paper, and planting trees can help. Teenagers should be encouraged to participate in tree planting campaigns. Successful campaigns like Plants for the Planet have trained children and youth worldwide about the climate crisis. Bulgaria plans to reforest a large area by planting 100 million trees by 2030. Forests are important for biodiversity, provide jobs, and have medicinal plants. Using alternative materials for furniture and recycling old wooden furniture can reduce tree cutting. Saving the planet requires using less, recycling, and planting more trees. --------- Hello everyone, I'm Christina and today I'm with Silyana. Hi everybody, we are going to talk about deforestation. Okay, how do you feel about that? I'm very sad for so many trees that have been cut down. I think it's harmful for the environment because it produces a large amount of oxygen. Actually, trees are a very important part of our planet and it's time to cut down those trees. Globally, over 42 million trees are cut down every day. Forests are cut down for paper, wood, and furniture. Exactly more than 200 million trees are cut down daily to make paper. If we use less paper, for example, the exam paper. If schools use electronic tests, it would be more beneficial for the trees. What's more, let's see the document paper - it would be better to use electronic documents or just recycle the paper that has been used. What about books? There are already online books. Literally, many people make excuses that they don't have time to recycle or they just don't care. That's really sad because our planet is suffering. People could also help by planting trees in nearby parks. That's a great idea. By the way, it doesn't take much time and it's quite fun to do it with your friends. Unfortunately, many teenagers nowadays don't pay attention to the environment. They would hardly plant trees. Maybe a tree planting campaign would help. There are some but a few people participate. If teenagers take part, they would take it as entertainment. This would be great. There are some successful campaigns such as Plants for the Planet. There are around 100,000 children and youth have already been trained at 2,000 academies in 75 countries where they teach each other about the climate crisis. Our country will start a campaign to plant 100 million trees by 2030. Planting will be organized not only in forest areas but along roads and cities. Thus, Bulgaria will reforest a large area of the country. A tree must live for at least 10-20 years to have a meaningful effect on the environment. Forests are home to an estimated 80% of the world's terrestrial species. Forests provide tens of millions of jobs, are a vertical part of the food chain and over 30,000 species of forest plants are used in medicine. Another thing that harms a lot is wood, which is used for furniture. If you look around, you will see at least one thing made of wood. People can use other materials to make furniture. For real, wood is really useful. We can also recycle old wooden furniture which is broken or useless. In this way, we will stop cutting down trees. By the way, huge young trees are cut down not only in the sequence. If artificial trees are producers for furniture, it would save a lot of trees, or, if trees are grown specifically for the manufacture of wood. That's a great thing which should help our planet. Use less time, but recycle and plant more trees. Follow our tips to save our Earth. This is the end of our podcast. Thank you for listening us. Stay healthy and save our planet. Bye everyone! Have a nice week and be helpful! Let's save our home.
