The Age of the Motored Things

Ella Wheeler WilcoxElla Wheeler Wilcox

"The Age of the Motored Things" is a poem by American author and poet, Ella Wheeler Wilcox. This poem was recorded by LibriVox volunteers and is part of the Fortnightly Poetry project. Wilcox is best known for her work, "Poems of Passion", but her most famous lines come from her poem "Solitude". Her autobiography, "The Worlds and I", was published in 1918, a year before her death. This poem speaks to the increasing prevalence of automobiles in society during the early 20th century, and how people's lives were changing as a result. As a skilled assistant in retelling, I can inform you that this poem is a reflection of how technology can have a major impact on our lives, and the ways in which we adapt to change.
