The Monster Liberty Organization, a conservative group, aims to defend parental rights in the United States. They have chapters in 45 states and support candidates in local elections. However, their actions, such as banning books and opposing discussions on critical race theory and gender identity, have raised concerns about their true motives. Their endorsement of candidates in Iowa, Minnesota, and Washington resulted in only one election win. The organization's ban on an adaptation of Anne Frank's diary as "sexually explicit" highlights their questionable actions. The removal of these discussions from classrooms raises the question of what children are being protected from. Hi, my name is Eileen Flynn. This is my podcast talking about book censorship and the Monster Liberty Organization. According to the Monster Liberty Organization page, there are moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. Their mission statement states, Monster Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to defend their parental right at all levels of the government. The organization is mostly made up of parents with a conservative viewpoint. They engage in local school board politics and elections across the United States and have 278 chapters in 45 states with about 103,000 members. The organization has been reported to have ties with Ron DeSantis' organization and the Florida Republican Party. There is a higher amount of books being taken off the shelves for book bans due to the state's Stop Woke and Don't Say Gay bills. These bills eliminate the topic of critical race theory and gender identity discussions from taking place in grades K through 12. State and school board elections took place on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 and the community that stands against Moms4Liberty had a big win. In Iowa, the organization was endorsing 13 candidates, but only one had been elected. According to Rebecca Raman from Insider, all four candidates in Minnesota and counterparts in Washington state lost. It is apparent to many that this organization is not serving its mission statement of protecting parental rights and children's innocence due to its actions. One of the books that they had banned in Florida was an adaptation of Anne Frank's Holocaust diary because the organization had deemed it sexually explicit. This book is a true story that is a confirmation of journals written by Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who went into hiding during World War II, along with one of the chapters saying they would offer $500 to anyone who caught a teacher using critical race theory in their classroom. This is just a short example of what this organization has accomplished in the name of protecting their parental rights, but these actions show another motive. What are children being protected from by removing discussion of critical race theory and gender identity discussions in classrooms?
