Chamberlin Rhythmate

Harry Chamberlin created the 'Rhythmate' in 1949. It was one of the earliest electronic drum machines ever manufactured. The Rhythmate operated on tape loops. It featured a sliding head that allowed for playback of different tracks on each piece of tape, or a blending between them. The loops featured real acoustic jazz drum kits playing various style beats. The Rhythmate came equipped with a built-in amplifier and a 12" speaker.
