Hello everybody and welcome to Serial Slayers I am your host Brandon. So tonight's topic is first I need to put out a disclaimer it is going to be vulgar it is going to be real because something I'm going to do is I am going to actually produce and read for you the letter that was sent to the victim's family kind of disclaimer like you know hey if you can't stomach this kind of stuff about cannibalism child molestation rate this one is not going to be for you talking about who it is and I'm sorry ahead of time my dogs are acting up I'm trying to control them but sorry this gentleman right here over there that is Albert Fish that is the wolf of Wisteria the gray man the Brooklyn vampire the boogeyman himself okay now I wanted to talk about different serial killers from the history current anything like that true crime so tonight you know the first one was about Elizabeth Bathory but now we're going to dive into a cannibal amongst cannibals so here's the funny thing all right everybody might not think that compared to like Dahmer and those with the numbers he only had three okay it was assumed between three and nine but he was only convicted of three but the severity of what it is that he did is really what gets it but we're going to dive into a little bit of his backstory firstly he was around if you will 1870 to 1936 and if you guys are wondering what I'm doing I researched all this so I have to return to my notes that way you know you know I'm not just making this up as I go along okay so he was born in 1870 and died in 1936 via electric chair which we'll get into towards the end of this here podcast but he was only active air quotes for anyone who's listening via audio book or anything like that also real quick the pictures that I mentioned is just Albert Fish it'll be Grace Budd the note two other things it's nothing detrimental you're not missing out on anything I promise it's just for visual optics if you will so he had three child murders between 1924 and 1928 now we'll get more into who she was but his most notable murder is this here this is Grace Budd she was 11 and we will come back to that in a little bit but I want to talk a little bit about his backstory and kind of what got him there if you will so the majority of his family had mental illnesses his mom had auditory hallucinations dad was 75 when he was born I don't know if that makes a difference or not but Wow yeah so he was he was 75 when he was born and he passed away not long after and when that happened both Fish and his siblings became wards of the state while they were wards of the state is where it said that Fish developed his air quotes passion for pain he was a sadomasochist to the fullest and we will get into that as well he had a passion for pain and it said that the people at the orphanage you know they would beat the kids they'd sometimes make them beat each other there was a wooden board with needles that was used which is important to note when he left when he left the orphanage his mom got on a straight and narrow and he went back home in 1880 he continued beating on himself because of how much he liked he liked it he did it for sexual gratification and it should be known that not all serial killers kill for sexual gratification unlike what many people believe that is wholeheartedly a myth that is not true so he returned home in 1880 and this is disturbing in and of itself he liked to beat himself with a wooden paddle that he made with metal spikes and he also did this here now for those who can't see what I'm just picking and showing he would shove needles into his own groin and his abdomen for pleasure he did this for pleasure yes if you can see what I'm showing you those are all needles in his groin that he jammed in there himself out to say the least so he that was how it was progressing until he developed an unhealthy relationship with what they called a tele tele telegraph boy which got him into that I don't want to butcher the pronunciation of these psychological abnormalities if you will but this boy got him into an 1882 introduced him to the two of them they both mean the same thing it's the consumption of human waste eating feces drinking urine this telegraph boy got him into that and that became a new part of his sexual prowess if you will he mentioning that nail paddle he would actually utilize that when he would rape and beat boys he would beat them with a paddle with nails the metal spikes because he he liked to hear them cry out which is another excerpt of one of the three victims he talked about I'll read that to you here in a little bit here's a kicker that is rather astounding if you will excuse me I had to wet my whistle he got married in 1898 and had six kids of his own but he never abused any of them he never touched any of them nothing but he would continue to rape and molest young boys our children throughout in 1910 he met a gentleman named Thomas Keaton on a painting job because that's what he would do he would go around and he would he would oh I'm a painter or I'm hiring somebody for a painting this is how he found his victims so this guy Thomas Keaton hired him on for the painting job ten days later he tells him that hey I need this painted out here at this location the guy shows up and he realizes it's an abandoned barn and Phish proceeds to lock him in there rape and torture him for two weeks up to and including cutting off half of his penis for fun when it was all said and done Phish left him a $10 bill and just disappeared so he raped and beat a dude with a wooden paddle with spikes and cut off half of his penis and gave him ten bucks for his troubles okay that's uh it's one way to make your money stretch I guess I don't know no I'm kidding I digress he he did admit later on that he did believe Mr. Keaton was of diminished mental capacity if you will and that's why it was so easy for him to take advantage of and do what he want because if you guys look backwards on my things here sorry um still backwards there we go Albert Phish was not a big man he was not an imposing figure at all so that's that's why it's like okay you can kind of tell well I shouldn't say that because depending on how you inundate somebody like knock him out drug him whatever you can you can take advantage of anybody depending on your size I mean it is what it is but again this is back in the 1800s when he was convicted he said that he was having audible hallucinations as well and God told him to kill the kids and you know how the types that revert back to religion are they they swear that you know no this is what I was told to do I had to do it so now I'm going to pull up over here and I'm going to read for you this letter this is from Phish to Grace Budd's mom now the reason that it's just so disturbing so I'm going to put this I'm going to put this Phish I'm going to put the letter up here on the screen for you you might not be able to read it I will read it for you no problem so here we go here's the entirety of the note all right and again sensitive viewers apologize but this is what it what it says so this this was sent to her mom after she had been missing for some days says my dear mrs. Budd in 1894 friend of mine shipped as a deckhand on a steamer Tacoma Captain John Davis they sailed from San Francisco to Hong Kong China on arriving there he and two others went ashore and got drunk when they returned the boat was gone at that time there was a famine in China meat of any kind was from $1 to $3 a pound so great was the suffering among the very poor that all children under 12 were sold to the butchers to be cut up and sold for food in order to keep others from starving a boy or girl under 14 was not safe in the street you could go in any shop and ask for steak chops or stew meat part of the naked body of a boy or girl would be brought out and just what you wanted cut from it a boy or girls behind which is the sweetest part of the body and sold as veal cutlet brought the highest price John stayed there so long he acquired a taste for human flesh on his return to New York he stole two boys one seven one eleven took them to his home stripped them naked and tied them in a closet then burned everything they had on them several times every day and night he spanked them tortured them to make their meat good and tender first he killed the eleven-year-old boy because he had the fattest ass and of course the most meat on it every part of the body was cooked and eaten except head bones and guts he was roasted in the oven all of his ass broiled broiled fried stewed little boy was next went the same way at that time I was living at 409 East 100 Street right rear side he told me so often how good human flesh was and I made up my mind to taste it on Sunday June the 3rd 1928 I called on you at 406 West 15th Street brought you pot cheese and strawberries we had lunch Grace sat in my lap and kissed me I made up my mind to eat her on the pretense of taking her to a party you said yes she could go I took her to an empty house in Worcestershire or Westchester excuse me I had already picked out when we got there I told her to remain outside she picked wildflowers I went upstairs stripped all my clothes off I knew if I did not I would get blood on them when all was ready I went to the window and called her then I hid in the closet until she was in a room when she saw me all naked she began to cry and tried to run downstairs I grabbed her and she said she would tell her mama first I stripped her naked how she did kick bite and scratch I choked her death and cut her into small pieces so I could take my meat to my room cook and eat it how sweet her tender little ass was roasted in the oven it took me nine days to eat the entire body I did not fuck her though I could have and I wished she died a virgin and then that last part is some like oh don't worry I was polite about the whole thing that letter alone so they didn't know it was him but the letter gave way to the authorities to be able to locate and talk to him how he came to call on her that day again he put out an ad for an assistant for painting and when he showed up because she had an older brother again and I'll put her up here again sorry great but had an older brother and that's who fish originally went to see because he was going to hire him and you know do what he did with the other boys but when he saw grace he shifted all his focus to her gave it a hundred percent to her what baffles me and this is something that will lead into Friday's podcast this is in the 1800s they met this man because they were trying to offer their son services to bring money to the family okay this man was not a friend of the family he had known them but a day or so and then says oh my niece is having a party she's about your age can you come with me and then mom and dad let grace go with this guy that they don't know like what the hell this is like yeah go party it's cool and then you know his party it was his party he ate her up so that is the majority of the story of Albert Fish there's multiple documentaries out there the one I watched I think it was on Peacock something I'm not sure it was kind of monotone there's not a Netflix style like you know some of the other ones that we've viewed but he faced the electric chair as you can see there in 19 January of 1936 now when he was convicted he began talking about well there's some other boys too according to him his belief is that he claimed to have a child in every state they didn't believe him they said he might have had three to nine like I said they can victim of three the other two one was a four-year-old boy named Billy Gaffney in 1927 the other was I don't know how you say his name Francisco would butcher the last name in 1924 in Staten Island now it didn't take long to confirm that body because that boy was found in the woods apparently he went out playing with the kids or hiking and fish lured him to the woods strangled him with his own suspenders and was going to dismember him and eat him after raping the body but he thought he heard somebody coming so he left but real quick I will read you what he stated when they mentioned Billy's death so he's talking about Billy Gaffney the 1927 this is his statement to the police that I took tools a good heavy cat of nine tails homemade short handle cut one of my belts in half split the halves into six strips about eight inches long I whipped his bare back till the blood ran from his legs I cut off his ears nose slid his mouth from ear to ear gouged out his eyes he was dead then I stuck my knife in his belly and held my mouth to his body and drank his blood which is kind of where the Brooklyn vampire comes into play so there you have it a brief synopsis that's pretty in-depth actually it's pretty much everything if you look up anything on Albert Fish that's what you're going to find is everything that I just told you Albert Fish the boogeyman the gray man and again his most I don't want to say notable but of his victims the one that drew the most attention largely because of that letter is young Grace Budd here but yeah he took nine days over the course of nine days to cook and eat her in this abandoned house and if you go watch the documentary they actually did dig up the backyard and find some other stuff but yeah he nine days to cook and eat this 11 year old and then had the audacity to send the mother a letter see and that's the thing that gets me that's that's the one right there I was formerly a parole officer you know about a decade ago and I had a client if you will who I asked him when he came out so what was your crime because I always like to hear somebody side tell me what in your words what happened so I was murder so okay so what happened well I found out you know my wife was cheating on me and so I went to the park and I killed her and then I killed him and then I called 9-1-1 I said hey you need to come get this body XYZ and dispatcher I was like really tell me what he's like well the dispatcher tried to be like oh stay on the phone the couch he was like no I gotta call this guy's wife and let him know he ain't coming home and he proceeded to take the guy's phone and do just that and I was like stone-cold like just okay like that's uh to tell somebody hey I just did this person you see a lot of interviews and stuff like that like they don't divulge it a lot of times I think that it might help them you know I have a I have a extra get out of something you ain't getting out of jail but get out of something card if you will and it doesn't always go the way that they think that it will but I don't know yeah and that's that's kind of weird that you know he didn't do it for fame he didn't do it again I'll have to look into that but but really the fame of serial killer he wasn't one of them he wasn't doing it for notoriety and fame he specifically was doing it for sexual gratification and you can go so far as to say for hunger I mean you know it is what it is but yeah so that's the story of Albert Fish like I said you can find his documentary on multiple just look up the gray man I know it sounds weird but look up the gray man because that's who he is that's what he was I'm Brandon your host and I want to thank you for stopping by serial slayers Friday two days we
