Dora Sigerson Shorter

Dora Sigerson, an Irish poet, was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1866. Her father, George Sigerson, was a surgeon and writer, while her mother, Hester Varian, was also a writer. After marrying in 1895, Dora began writing under the name Dora Sigerson Shorter. Dora became a prominent figure of the Irish Literary Revival and started publishing her collections of poetry in 1893. Throughout her career, she developed close friendships with other notable Irish-born poets and authors, such as Katharine Tynan, Rose Kavanagh, and Alice Furlong. Sadly, Dora Sigerson's life was cut short when she passed away in 1918, leaving behind a legacy as a talented poet and a key contributor to the Irish literary scene.
