The transcription is a casual conversation between Chris Cotney, Elizabeth Walker, and Noah Cotney. They talk about various topics such as chewing gum, the myth about gum staying in your stomach for seven years, and Noah's decision to move out. Noah shares his experience and advises others to pray and be financially prepared before making the decision to move out. Chris and Elizabeth express their pride in Noah and joke about him being a good catch for single ladies. Hey everybody, this is Chris Cotney with Divine Appointment. I'm sitting here, like always, next to my beautiful sister, Elizabeth Walker. Beth, how you doing? Hello! Great! How are you? I'm doing good, technically. I'm actually sitting next to my nephew. Nephew? Nephew? Nephew? Nephew. Nephew. Come on. Nephew. Nephew. Nephew. Nephew. I'm sitting there, and he's dying laughing at me right now. I'm sitting next to my handsome nephew, Noah Cotney. Noah, how you doing? I'm good. I'm good. You doing good? Your hair's getting longer. I know. You have some curly locks. Got an afro now. And one thing I can say about all my sister's kids is they are very well-mannered. Aw. They love the Lord, and every single one of them are unique. So unique. They are. They have their own individual personalities, and Noah is talking on bubble gum right now. Either swallow it or spit it out. Chewing gum. No, I'll just put it in my mouth. Ew. Don't swallow it. Do not swallow it, because it will stick to your stomach. What's that saying? It takes seven years to digest gum? I don't know. Yeah, if anybody's in the sound of our voice, and y'all hear us talk about the seven-year thing about the gum being stuck in your stomach for seven years, we would really love some insight if that's really true. I don't think it is. I think it's a myth. You think it's true, don't you? No, I don't. I'll tell you this, and if anybody has a weak stomach, I'm sorry, but I'm about to say it. Oh, dear God. Me and my cousin, when we were teenagers, when we were hanging out, she... The oldest cousin? Heather. Okay. She was notorious about swallowing her gum. Yeah. We were riding uptown one night, and she was like, pull over, pull over. And I'm like, why? I pull over, and she had to throw up. And I kid you not. A bunch of bubble gum. She had like 20 pieces of chewed up gum. My Lord. I'm like, Heather, no wonder you were sick. That is absolutely disgusting. I get on the candle all the time, but I don't let him chew it, because he's swallowing it. Aiden loves it. It's probably not true. I don't see how, with our acid and all that in our stomach, that it would stay. But, hey. I mean, it's not... It's not good for you either. It can't be nutritious. There can't be any nutritional value in bubble gum. It's flavored plastic gum. Well, you know... Rubber. You know, too, though, when you're chewing it, your stomach is automatically thinking that you're about to swallow some food, so it causes you to have some acid issues, too. Oh, that was great. Great story. Are you serious? I'm serious. I thought she was about to say that it would make your stomach growl. No, your stomach is expecting you to swallow food when you're chewing. But you're not. All three of us is chewing gum right now, and you're telling me right now that it's not good for our stomach. Your stomach's like, I'm waiting. So, it's not... Did you just swallow the gum? No, I still got it. Where? Oh, okay. Okay. We'll keep doing this whole session talking about gum. Yeah. So, outside the gum, let's go ahead and pray. Yeah. Father, we love you, and we praise you, and we thank you for being who you are. God, we thank you for loving us the way that you do. We thank you for keeping us safe. Lord God, we thank you so much for just being there the entire time. Thank you for being there all along, Father, even when we didn't see you, even when we didn't acknowledge you. We thank you for just sticking by our side. Father, I just ask that you be with this session, with this episode. Lord God, I just ask that you speak in and through us, help us hear what you want us to hear, say what you want us to say, and do the things that's pleasing to you. In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Amen. So, we, I don't think you ever introduced him. You just said nephew. This is my Noah. Yes, I did. Did you say Noah? I said Noah Cotney. I'm so sorry. I was too busy chewing my gum. Well, let's just make sure they don't forget his name. Hopefully, they won't. Noah Cotney. Or Oah. Oah. No, I like Noah better. You like Noah better? I'm older, so I like Noah better. You are, he is older. Or Noah Bug. Noah Bug. Little Noah Bug. I remember that name. Did you boop boop? Oh, my goodness. He'll always be my Noah Bug. Noah Bug. He is a very good young adult. Speaking of adult, sister, do you want to kind of ... Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. I'll let them step in. He has embarked on a new adventure without my 100% approval. But he don't need that, because he's 19, right? So, you know, that's a little disheartening for me as a mommy, or mom, or mama of three kids. So, I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm going to let him step in. I'm asking because I'm not there with y'all, so I don't know any of the conversations y'all two have had or anything like that. Beth, I will call you out on this radio right now. Okay. Let me see that again and I will call you out. I don't know what he's talking about. You missed it. But I'm not there during any type of conversations y'all two have. I have questions that's not influenced by anything that's going on as far as you moving out. I'm not picking on you. No. I want to know. Okay. Do you think that you did it prematurely? And the reason why I'm asking that is because there's people out there that's going to be listening to this that's thinking it will be so much better once I get out of her ... You see what I'm saying? Get away from my mom or get away from my dad. It'll be so much better once I can get out from the rules and regulations. Basically, what I'm wanting you to do is really talk to them right now and tell them, just be honest with them. Because this has nothing to do with your decisions. It has something to do with your lessons that you've learned. And I want you to kind of influence your experience and I want you to influence the person that's a younger version of you that may be making that decision in the near future. Thinking about it. Yeah. I don't really think I did it prematurely. Okay. To be honest. Because sometimes I still say the same thing. I'm like, well, when I was with mom and dad, it was a lot easier and I didn't have to be as responsible as I am now. Yeah. And I'm out here having to search a job, trying to find money for gas and stuff like that. I haven't used a credit card when I don't have income. Yeah. And you know, can't use a credit card when you don't have income because you got to pay that back. Yeah. I just think that it's best to stay with your parents for as long as you have to because, you know. Well, you know, we still have a bed. I know. Beth, I'm not doing that. Not right now. We still got that bed. So. The stuff and everything. I mean, if somebody is. Bring it on. All right. So back up a few months and imagine you laying in your bed. Yeah. Okay. Downstairs. And imagine somebody else laying there and they're having the same thoughts that you're having, that you was having then. Moving out and getting out on your own and stuff like that. What kind of advice would you give them? You know, whether to make the same decisions or what to do before they made that decision. You see what I'm saying? So what would you tell them? I would say to pray about it. Yeah. And. Good answer. 100% ready and make sure that's what God's telling you what to do. Yeah. Make sure you have enough money or whatever you need to move out. And yeah, the main goal is just to pray about it. That's God where he needs to lead you. So. Amen. So don't struggle to be ready in order to struggle when you get out. Yeah. That's pretty good. I know. He's a good kid. He is. He's a good man. I love that. Well, he's my kid. Yes, he's a man. He's a man. I like that better. Not because I'm a man. Y'all see man. I see my little Noah bow. But when I said that, he leaned back and broadened his shoulders up like, yeah, I'm a man. Which to me, he is and he's a good man. Yes. Single ladies. Anyways. BreezeMinistry.com. Hit us up. I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. He loves Jesus too. But no, seriously. I'm proud of him. I know that he went through a lot when the Lord called Breonna home. Yeah, they were pretty close. Breonna always looked up to him. Yeah. Even though she was the oldest, she still looked up to him. Oh, yeah. She would say all the time, I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. And Noah, you know that we sit back and we look at that situation and I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say, I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. I'm so proud of Noah. So many different purposes and reasons why God called Brianna home. And not just to set her free, because she's set free. She is set free. But not just because of that. Look what he's done. Look what he's done through her memories, through the way that she's touched people. I mean, behind us, there's this big poster board that says, Bri's Ministry. And the word ministry, the Greek word there is diakonos, and it means to serve. So through Bri's memories, we're able to serve people. We're able to be there for people that struggle the same way that she struggled. So they don't have to go through what we've been through. God will use the fullest things of this world to confound the wise, and the weak things of the world to confound the strong. That's what the word says. You don't realize how bad that hurts. Does that hurt? No, no. He's a man. He can deal with that. I can deal with it. You just don't want to admit it hurts. It don't hurt. It's not even red. I get excited, and sometimes I'll just slap a shoulder or something just to show appreciation. That's not barbaric. When you hit my shoulder with your fingernail, it hurts. I had bruises. He didn't do that. He did this. I did that. Well, you don't do anything like that. Why are you doing anything like that? Because he's a man. I'm a woman. People are listening. Huh? People are listening. We're having our own little conversation over here, guys. Sometimes we forget there's a mic in our face. Yeah, but I can look around and see what God has been wanting to do all along, what God has planned all along. It's hard to see that when you're in the ruts of life. Yeah. To see what God's doing, what his plan is, and that's something I have realized with our death that I have no idea why it had to happen, but I know that it had to happen, and I know that God loves me, and all things work to the good of those who are called according to his purpose. Amen. I know that he has a plan, and I just have to have faith and keep that faith and just know, be still and know. I can't even scratch the surface on what God has done in your life personally as far as the same question I had asked Noah. I feel it's an understatement for me to even ask you that question, because your faith in God is unparalleled with anybody I've ever seen, because when you don't understand stuff, you understand that you don't understand it, and it's okay. When you're not okay, you've realized that it's okay not to be okay, because you know the one person to see is the big picture, and so regardless of what's going on, you know he's got it. Yeah, that's true. My relationship with Christ has grown. I've never been as close as I am, but you realize how much you need God when you're in situations that only he can help you with. Yeah, and you know sometimes he'll put you in situations where only he can help you with. Make a call on him, yep. Yeah, and I think that's what it does with childhood relations. It's a reminder. It's a molding point in our life. It's a time for us to be reminded, hey, I need God, and that's what my experience has been. Noah, do you have a favorite Bible verse? John 3, 16. Do you have another favorite Bible verse? Philippians 4, 13. What? Do you have another favorite one? No, I don't. You don't even have to give me an address. Just quote it. Quote it? Address. Address? The address, where it's located. The book, the chapter, and the verse. The address? It's called address. Let's call it address. Or scripture. What scripture? Or chapter. It's called the address. I've never heard anybody call it address. It's called the address. But I mean it makes sense. It's where the verse is located. It's the book, the chapter, and the verse. It's called address. I like that. Yeah. I ain't never thought about it. I'm not going to call you out right now. Okay? Don't call me out. I know it. I can see it. But I'm not going to call you out. Because I think it would be good content. Blah, blah, blah. I love us. I love us too. I love us. We are very blessed. That's for sure. Yeah. And sometimes when I'm talking, my sister can just look at me in a certain way. And I'm like, I love that woman. Aww. You're so sweet. I'm so for it. I love that woman. Okay. Noah. Let me ask him again. Noah. Do you have another favorite Bible verse? Proverbs 3, 5, 6. Oh. Lean not on your own understanding, but knowledge of him in all the ways. And he will direct your path. He will direct your path. Will he? How do we know that? Does he tell us he will? In the address. No. Oh, in the address. What's the address? Proverbs. Proverbs what? 3, 5, 6. 3 verses 5 and 6. Yep. Is that right? Yes, sir. Wasn't that Breonna's favorite? Yes, she liked it. Breonna's favorite. And she liked Be still and know. Be still and know. And then there's one about believing 9 and 9. Oh, yes. I'll never forget her calling me that time. And that was in the book of Matthew. Yep. What was it? It's when the 9 and 9, when he left the 9 and 9 to come after the 1. And you know, me and Beth was talking about this one day. You remember when me and you was talking about this on the back porch of the church? And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I do. I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, everybody talks about, you know, they interpret that story as, you know, as a story about a man who's a Christian. And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I do. I remember that. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We've got the story hanging all around. We've got another poster over there in the corner. Mm-hmm. But me and my sister was talking, and we was like, OK, look. So, yes, he does leave the 9 and 9. And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I do. I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, everybody talks about, you know, they interpret that story as, you know, as a story about a man who's a Christian. And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I do. I remember that. Yeah. And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah. And I said, you know what? Mm-hmm. Yeah. And I said, you know what? And we was like, OK, look. So, yes, he does leave the 99 and to go after others is lost. But he also leaves the 99 from up there and comes down and gets the 1 that needs to come home. And Breonna has been that 1 twice. Wow, that's deep. When he saved her and then when he come and got her. What? Mm-hmm. That's pretty deep. What? Look at that. So good. So good. So, anyways, we have had an unbelievable service today. Our song director, bless his heart, he's been going through it. Yeah, he decided to headbutt a monkey bar. Yes, I said that. Headbutt a monkey bar. I said that. Yeah, he went 12 rounds with a monkey bar and lost. OK, before anybody, like, gets confused, you know, when you say headbutt, he didn't actually headbutt the monkey bar. He did kind of. What was he doing, though? OK, I will explain. He, uh, so my youngest daughter had tryouts of the college and so I was with her and he decided to take the grandbaby to the park. We have a 3-year-old grandbaby and a 7-year-old who are actually Breonna's children that we're raising. And the 3-year-old is all boy. He is just wild. And he wanted to play tag. Well, Pawpaw didn't want to play tag, but he views everything as a challenge and will not lose, refuses to lose. So Kandan, which is the 3-year-old's name, ran over there and said tag and ran away from him. And, um, he stood up and went to run. He had his hat on, so his vision was kind of limited. And he had his head down a little bit and went to run and ran right into the monkey bar, knocking himself down. Coffee, everything. Yeah, he, uh, he hurt, I mean, it jarred him pretty bad. He's got, like, whiplash and bruised head. He's definitely concussed right now. It's like no way. Bless his heart. Then ain't nobody talking about the monkey bars. Oh, they've probably been all over. Listen, you know, there's got to be some kind of getting on them because they can't be safe anymore. They can't be safe because that hard of a head hitting bars that hard, I don't think it's safe for the kids to play in that area anymore. I think there needs to be a safety review. Inspection? Yeah, for sure. Hey, I might have knocked some sense into him. It's crazy you said that. Chris said that too. I said the same thing. I said the same thing. I was like, you know what? No, he had plenty of sense. Yeah. He married me, didn't he? That's what she told me a while ago. She said, well, he married me. And I'm like, okay, so yeah, he's got smarts. Yeah. And this morning when he come in, I told him, I said, brother, because those of you who don't know, God led the church to ask me to give a sermon this morning. And I didn't know that if Nathan was going to be able to make it or not. And his phone's ringing. Oh, it's mine. Oh, okay. Oh, that's my phone. I'm sorry. But anyways, and he got up there, and I know his head was hurting. He didn't get back until like 4 o'clock this morning. And I was like, bless his heart, man. And he got back, his eyes was red, but he still sung. He still praised the Lord. And even when he spoke, you could tell that he was just tired. Like he was dealing with something. And he's got blood pressure. You know, he takes blood pressure medicine. I know I don't care that I share this. It's just something to pray about, guys. But his blood pressure was a little elevated as well. So yeah, he's not feeling the best. But he's, you know, he did, he got up, come to church, praise God. He went home early to get some rest. So y'all just lift him up in your prayers. Yeah, because this morning I told him, when we got done, they gave me a hug and everything. And we got up from the altar. And once everybody walked away, I looked at him. I said, Nathan, you know, I don't have a, well, I won't go into detail what I told him. But one thing I did tell him was that it wouldn't have been the same here this morning without him standing up there with me. Aw. Because it wouldn't have. I know that meant a lot to him. Well, it meant a lot to me that he was here this morning. You know, because, you know, that man right there has stepped up. He's a good man. I hate that he wasn't feeling good. Yeah. He's normally very chipper and he likes to aggravate people. We need to get him on the show. I already told him I was. What'd he say? He's good with it. Well, I mean, he says that. No, no, he's good with it. Oh, so I got on here before he did? Yeah. You're actually the only, well, we had a couple of step-ins and a couple of things that we slid in there. But as far as sitting down, you're the second person to do it. Okay. Your sister was the first one. Okay, okay. But, yeah, we're going to have, like, next weekend, is it next weekend, Step Up? Yeah. Mental health awareness is the month of May, so we're going to be setting up a table, a stepping-up program throughout the point in Sylacauga at Blue Bell. Yeah, and keep in mind that this show is recorded, so it may have already come to pass by the time you get this, but they can still look it up, right? Yeah, and the next event's going to be May 18th, and it'll be in Clay County at the Ashland Park. Same mental health awareness stepping-up program, same thing, it'll just be in a different location. Like I said, that'll be May 18th. Okay, so they can still either find this episode of our podcast, or they can still catch it. We'll be sharing it on social media, too. Yeah, well, we'll be there recording it anyways, right? Yeah. I would love to go live there if we could find a way. But anyways, so, no, do you have anything you want to share, any great revelation that God's shown you lately? Well, God is good. All the time. All the time. God is good. Amen. He got baptized not too long ago. Yes, he did. Yes, he did. Was the water cold? No, the water felt good. I actually wanted to get back in there after I got baptized. It felt that good. I wanted to... Double portion. Just stay in there and swim around for a little while? Yeah, I wanted to stay in there. It was warm. It felt good, though. A little double portion, that'd have been great. Oh, yeah. That's awesome. I'm so proud of you. Thank you. You're very welcome. Well, thank you, guys. We've enjoyed this session. and Noah will be back with us for sure. He may even do his own. Yeah. He's very savvy when it comes to technology and stuff, so. We'll definitely be hearing back from him. And I guess, Chris, if you want to pray? Absolutely. That sounds good. Noah, would you like to pray? Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Amen. Amen.
