In the course Essentials of Management, the second unit focuses on the Concept of Management. It includes an introduction to management, its nature, scope, and purpose, as well as the difference between management and administration. The skills of a manager are also discussed, such as planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. Management is defined as the process of achieving goals through others, and a manager is responsible for directing the efforts of others to achieve organizational objectives. Welcome learners, today we are going to discuss the course Essentials of Management. We are going to discuss the second unit that is Concept of Management. In this, we are going to discuss introduction of management, nature, scope and purpose, management as a science or an art, differentiation between management and administration, the skills of a manager and so on. As far as concept is concerned, management is the process of getting things done through others with the help of some basic activities like planning, organizing, directing and controlling. As far as the definition of concept, the main argument for this is that management is the art of getting things done through others. As far as FHR is concerned, management consists of getting things done through others and manager is one who accomplish organizational objectives by directing the efforts of others. Thank you.
