Class ranks can have a negative impact on students depending on their personality and expectations. It's important to focus on working to your potential rather than comparing yourself to others. Grades don't define your worth and colleges consider more than just academic performance. Social and emotional intelligence are also important for success in life. All right, so recently we saw how, you know, the class ranks came out, you know, on everybody's transcripts. Do you think that the competition of these class ranks between students affects them in a negative way? I think that's on an individual basis, you know, I think it depends on the student's personality and, you know, what their expectations for themselves are. I also feel that, you know, it's more about, I always tell my students, you know, working to your potential. And if you've put all your effort in and you've tried your best and you're working to your full potential and if it's an 80 or whatever that may be, then that is good enough, that's what we want to see. I do feel that sometimes, you know, students, the class ranks do affect them negatively because they see it visually, they want to do better, and sometimes, you know, it's never good enough. So I think, again, it's a matter of just reminding ourselves that we're human and that, you know, we're not always going to have perfect grades and that's part of, you know, growing up and part of life that as long as you try your hardest and do your best, that's what teachers want to see, just working to your full potential and putting all your effort into a class. Yeah, and also everyone has their own needs and their own situation and everyone is different, so everyone's class ranking is going to be different because everyone's good in different areas. So even though students put a lot of pressure on themselves, they have to say to themselves that, you know, everyone's different, just because I'm not the best at one thing doesn't mean that I'm even better at something else. And honestly, at the end of the day, those are just numbers and that's kind of something that everyone has to come to terms with. Right, and that's a great point, again, you know, just about it is just numbers and, you know, when you, if you decide to go to college, they look at everything, they don't just look at your grades, you know, they look at how you are as a person, how you're writing your essay, what clubs, what extracurriculars, so it's not just about grades, so I think, you know, we need to remind ourselves that intelligence also means social and emotional intelligence, not just academic intelligence, and that as you move through life, you need to have all three to be successful.
