Paul Gannon here with your Monday Sports Roundup and starting with primary, we've got the schools this evening and two big annual primary schools sporting events coming up this week. The first of them is to come in a month called North West Connemara Regional Finals in Clonburgh which were scheduled to go ahead last Wednesday but had to be postponed on the morning due to inclement weather conditions and we're hoping, really hoping that this coming Wednesday weather conditions will be in our favour at the idyllic Clonburgh venue. It'll be girls from 10 to 12.30 followed by boys in the afternoon. Six divisions there, Divisions 1 to 6. Cups going to the Divisional Winners and Shields going to the Runners-Up so very much looking forward to it. Catering for in excess of 20 primary schools. The clubs involved there would be Carna Cashel, Clonburgh, Napier Shea, Renfowell and then Clonburgh on the LGFA front along with Carna Cashel Freshen and Cronin Wales. So good few schools in the catchment area and always a great day out for both students and teachers. Four official referees, they're highly experienced referees. One of them has even refereed a county senior championship men's final on more than one occasion so it's really great to have top class referees at these. So we're very much looking forward to this coming Wednesday St. Archa. And then the following day next Thursday, a big soccer day locally. It's the annual West Coast United Intersport Scannons Cup and this is all of the primary schools in the West Coast United catchment area and this really is a three-way partnership there between the schools and the club. And Gerry Gannon from Gannon Sports in Clifton who is the long-time sponsor of this competition and I just take this opportunity to thank Gerry for his ongoing sponsorship of this. Gerry of course a former player for West Coast United in the 90s when they had a successful era at Division 2 level winning both league and cup and so on and getting to a couple of first division cup finals as well at that time. Big year for West Coast United their 40th anniversary this year so and a new development this year of course the girls soccer and the annual West Coast United Primary School Soccer Cup would be a major factor in the fact that West Coast United are now fielding in girls soccer at both under 12 and under 14. Big plug there for Joachim Leighton as well who really puts in a Trojan amount of work annually from the club perspective in making sure that everything is ship-shaped for the day. And we hope to have Johnny Morris-Burke the FAI development officer as well. Johnny usually makes it out every year so it's really a festive occasion and a massive celebration of the wonderful sport of soccer so we look forward to it. That's Wednesday and Thursday two big primary school events this coming week. LGSA next under 14 Division 3 Grainne Wells lost out during the week there made the long journey down to Minla and lost out to Minla's Kehanna there who are the league leaders and that defeat puts Grainne Wells out of contention to make the Division 3 League Cup final but they will regroup for the Autumnal Championship. Under 14 Division 6 St. James has won 3 Cairn o'Castle 6-14 and that comprehensive victory for Cairn o'Castle at Division 6 level sees them safely through to a cup final Gaeltacht Derby and I Niamh Anna Leitrimor and they are in letter frack this evening to play Grainne Wells B at the 7-15 throw-in for that one but Niamh Anna Leitrimor's place in that final is already confirmed. A couple of adult fixtures for the week ahead in LGSA. Cone Cup West Division 3 quarter final on Wednesday coming June 19th at 7.30pm in Clannan. It's Clannan against Grainne Wells B. If Grainne Wells B win that they go into the semi-final at Division 3 level and if they lose that they drop down to a Division 4 cup semi-final. At Division 2 level in the Cone Cup West this coming Saturday at 12 noon in Carrow. It's on Carrow Rua in I Corn o'Castle. Golf next and results of an Open Stableford competition held at the club last Friday in the men's. First was Stanley Porter on 40 points. Second was John B. McDonagh on 39 points. The gross went to Peter Higgins on 29 points gross and John Flannery there on 37 points was third. The ladies competition winner was Anne Blake Burke on 39 points followed in second place by Sinead Foyle on 39 points. The gross winner there was Margaret Shaw on 18 points gross. And yesterday Sunday the 16th of June it was another members Stableford competition and at Division 1 level there the winner was Kevin Aspel on 42 points. Second Greg Yule on 39 points. Gross winner Finlay Yule on 30 points gross and in third place there John Flannery on 38 points. At Division 2 level the winner was PJ Brennan on 39 points. Runner up Jim Taplin on 39 points and third was Michael G. Mulcairns on 39 points. The ladies victor there was Julie Donilon on 42 points followed by Sinead Foyle in second on 41 points. The gross went to Noreen O'Neill on 26 points gross. In third place was Deirdre O'Connor on 41 points. Fourth Anne O'Donoghue on 40 points and it was the ladies 9 hole competition there which was won by Athene Keatings on 18 points. And I wrap up tonight on this shorter bulletin than normal with Men's GAA starting with Adult West Junior B Championship Clifton 214 Clare Galway 220. Junior D Championship West Clonbar 315 Napiershi 14. Under 16 Football League Group 3A St. James's 3-9 Carnacastle 415. Carnacastle top of that particular league. At Under 13 level Division 4 West Rynvale 5-7 Clare Galway 5-8. A thriller in letter frack last week but Rynvale losing out there by the bare minimum in that and that puts them out of contention to finish in the top two. Under 13 Division 3 West Carnacastle 10-13 St. James's 1-9. They also played Ornmore losing out there by 8-7 to 5-8. Clare Galway 1-8 Clifton 3-6. Clifton finishing top on 100% winning all their matches there finishing top after 7 matches on 14 points in Under 13 Division 3 West followed in second place by Carnacastle on 10 points. Now if the structure is such that the top two play a final then it will be a local Connemara Derby between Clifton and Carnacastle so I'm not sure is it two semi-finals one against four and two against three or is it a straight final but in the event that it's a straight final the two West Connemara sides there have come out on top and they will contest that Under 13 final. And finally GAA fixtures for the week ahead starting tomorrow Tuesday the 19th of June. Under 15 Division 4 Rynvale at home against Clambore at 7pm in letter frack and then at Under 15 Division 3 level it's Saltilnach Macara at home against Carnacastle in the Pearshee that's on at 7pm in the Prairie. And it's a big big weekend at adult level for Carnacastle and Clifton this coming weekend in league. This coming Friday evening actually the 21st of June all these fixtures are on the app but there's no throw in times given yet. They're all going ahead on Friday evening the 21st of June. Clifton making the long trek down to Caltra for their 3B league semi-final. If they win that match they are promoted to adult 3A league for next season which would be a fantastic achievement on their part. They've already beaten Caltra at home in the Round Robin phase but I suspect that Friday night's match is going to be a much tougher encounter. 4A this is a relegation semi-final and Carnacastle are at home to Mt Bellew My Laugh. Hard to see that one going ahead on a Friday night that's some trek for Mt Bellew My Laugh probably more likely it'll be the Saturday or the Sunday but it's down for the Friday night on the app. Huge game for Carnacastle if they lose they are relegated to 4B which is the same division that Clambore and Napiershee and Rindvall are in. If they win they will however retain their 4A status. Junior D Adult Championship West two matches on next weekend I think on the Saturday. Uptoward at home to Clambore and Napiershee at home to Rindvall and then in the Junior B Championship West Carnacastle are away to Clare Galway. So a lot of big games on there in adult football this coming weekend. That's my lot for tonight. Thanks very much to Pat here on Technical and we'll talk to you in a week's time.
