Hello, hello, and welcome to the second rendition of Waffle House Wednesday, the special edition episode. I am your host. And this time, I am joined with a very special guest, and that would be... I'm Josh, aka Woody, aka manager of Hocked and Loaded. A man who's gone by many names over the years. Do you have a favorite? You know, I like Hocked and Loaded, man. It's a good play on words. I had to dial it back. There were a couple other options that were maybe a little more explicit in nature, but I would say Hocked and Loaded is my favorite. Nothing wrong with Snack Pack, Chevy Camaro, that was a good one. Might need to bring that one back. He's looking pretty hot these days, but Hocked and Loaded it is, baby. I'm sure we have some League mates that really do appreciate you leaving off where you did. So, I wanted to have you on here today to talk a little bit about this season in review. And I wanted to start with Draft Day. Obviously, I know that you are a man who traditionally has walked in, you know, and just free-handed it, for lack of a better term. Can you tell us if anything changed this year? How you feel going into it? Maybe a player that you really liked and how you felt going out of it? Right. Before I dive in, I just want to say I'm a big fan of the show. I've been watching every week. I'm just really, really ecstatic and stoked to be here today. So, thank you for having me. Now, getting down to business. Pleasure. My Draft Day. All right. Now, this year, I did the most preparation out of any of the previous years, probably combined. So, is that over or under 15 minutes of prep? I would say very much over. In the past, you know, you must have seen me writing on the back of a subway receipt five minutes before the draft, trying to figure some things out, put some names on paper. This time around, much more in-depth. I was scattering YouTube and Reddit, watching all the videos, looking for those. I hear Reddit is a really good stock market device as well. It didn't quite work out for the stock market, but it's been going so well for the football on Reddit. So, hopefully that keeps up. Give me one of your favorite values that you got on Draft Day. You know, it's unfortunate. My favorite guy going into Draft Day, one guy that I was drafting in every league, every mock draft, and that was J.K. Dobbins, man. Unfortunately, we're having him week one, but I was high on J.K., baby. J.K. all day. Man, that man's leg has not worked out for him, but the rest of his body has. Unfortunately, that man is confirmed made of glass. But man, I thought he was going to be this year's Josh Jacobs. That did not pan out, obviously. But I think the biggest value that I got on here from the draft, I'm looking at it, you know, probably T.J. Hobbinson was a guy that I didn't initially plan coming out with, but he was still there in the fifth round. A lot of the mocks I did, he wasn't there anymore, and I was just super happy to be able to jump on that one and get a really quality tight end. He's been a stalwart for your team thus far. Yeah, and he's also the name for my team, the reason for Hoft and Loewen. The mascot, yes, yes. I would also have to respectfully disagree with you on Dobbins. I don't think he's made of glass, because that would imply broken bones. I think, and I propose instead, he's made out of four-year-old rubber bands. Both of his legs are just a bunch of rubber bands stuck together, and as soon as he gets hit, them suckers break. Yeah, that is a pretty accurate analogy. I would actually have to agree with you on that one, yeah. All right, so going into week one, how'd you feel? Did you feel confident? Obviously, in hindsight, it's 2020. You gave Mr. Jay Nasty the business. He dropped just under 140 points. I'm sure he didn't see that crosshook coming, but it happened. Yeah, after week one, I was feeling pretty good. The team, we were a little banged up. Obviously, we lost J.K. Garrett Wilson. Aaron Rodgers, him being gone, we took a little hit in the wide receiver room. The locker room hit. A lot of good things to come out of week one, though, a lot of good things. We got to see some positives. B. John started out real hot. I felt like I made a really good pick there week one. Now, maybe not looking that way, but one to show. If you look at tradable, though, if you look at tradable, might be tradable for B. John, huh? I know I put some offers out there. B. John, I've already fielded a couple offers. I'm the kind of guy, I look for value, but I also don't like giving up too much value. And I think this is one of those instances where people are trying to, you know, this is a buy low scenario. They might be watching the YouTube videos and be like, buy B. John, buy B. John. He's the kind of guy that I think I'm going to keep in the flex position. And maybe later on, getting closer to playoffs, he might come out and really shine. But it's not his fault. He is a hell of a player. He's a healthy young man, as they say it, except not this last week. That's true. Apparently, he was a little sick. But I think the real thing is Smith is sick in the head. That's what I think is going on here. I don't know what B. John did. Maybe he slept with his wife or something. Maybe he fondled his daughter a little bit. I don't know. But all I know is 0.3 points. Are we serious? 10 snaps for B. John Robinson? Did Cordero Palacios get that much better of an athlete? I don't believe it. I don't believe it. I think the Falcons, unfortunately, have a history of underutilizing star players. I mean, just look at Kyle Pitts. But hopefully, that run game picks up. I know the Falcons like the run game because, I mean, Desmond Redder, let's be honest, he's a load of crap. Yeah, hopefully, that picks off later. Well, I mean, I got to say also, kind of going back on the trade talk, you're a man who enjoys many trades. I know you are famous in the league for offering a bunch. And your strategy seems to be that if you throw enough at the wall, eventually, one will stick. So you've made four so far. You're leading the league currently. Do you have a favorite? And tell me, give me a little bit of information why. I do have a favorite. To preface this, I will say one of the reasons I love trades, it might be an addiction, but it really is mental health. I'm not going to lie to you. It's mental health, man, all the way. If I don't make a trade any given week, I feel fatigued. I feel depressed at the end of the week. I need to make trades to live. It's like water to me. But my favorite trade so far would be… 70% trades, ladies and gentlemen, 70% trades. We don't need as much water. We need trades, baby. But my favorite trade so far is one that people didn't really like initially when I made it. They said I lost the trade. And that was Warren and Jerome Ford. I gave them up. You know, I spent the bag on Jerome Ford. I'm not a fab, I know. But I got Alvin Kamara, and he's the guy that was on my original list going into the draft. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to grab him, and I wanted him bad. I wanted him bad. I know he's 28, he's an aging back. But coming off that suspension, I knew he'd have some fresh legs, and maybe he'd be able to see a little bit of his old self. You know, really put up some numbers. And that's what's been happening so far. So that would be my biggest win, I think. One of the ones where I have a little bit of regret would be that trade where I acquired T. Higgins. I mean, that trade, it depends what Tank Dell does coming off that concussion. But that almost looks like a wash for all the parties if T. Higgins doesn't pan out, wouldn't you say? I think it was fair. I know I ended up dropping Jared Boff right away. He was just kind of a trade tool just to get the trade through. T. Higgins, hopefully there's more to see. Hopefully, there's a greater story here. Hopefully, Joe Burrow and the Bengals can turn things around. Obviously, Jamar Chase can get hot. We saw that. He threw a 52 bomb. Oh, yeah. But I'd like to see something more out of Higgins. I know he has the potential. I know he was a top 20, top 25 receiver last year. I think he can do that again for sure. Now, do you regret trading away Tua after seeing the trade that went through today, this morning, in fact, between Shane and Dogs Up in the Smug himself? I can't say I don't feel a little something after seeing that. I mean, he gave up a couple of the players that I gave him. So Tua and Ford in that trade. If I knew I could get Aaron Jones and Pittman, you bet I would have done it. You bet your ass. Yeah. I will say... Spicy here today. Air force, Tua. I just got to be raw. I just, you know, we got a little military mouth every now and then. So I apologize. All right, drop and give me 50 then. 50 fabs spent on CJ Stroud today. How you feeling about that? You dropped him, Jack. I did drop him. You know, all that talk from Hustle saying, hey, you're wasting bench space. I think it finally got to me. I dropped CJ Stroud. I picked up Devin Single Perry. You know, that's what they call him these days on the Reddits. But yeah, I'm surprised 50 was dropped on him. You know, I've tried to trade him several times and, well, sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Well, enough talk about quarterbacks. I think I should have you speak about the thing that I wanted to get you on here, which as much as you are known for trades, I also know you to be a man who loves to overreact and loves to make opinions and take stances and stand firm as long as possible. A traditional military man don't give up any ground. So I wanted to have you on here today to talk about the current situation of the league. For those of you that are unaware, seven weeks into the season, we only have seven more to go before playoffs start. I feel like this year you have three groups. I can't single anyone out, but I'm sorry, Matt, but you only have one win. You're the first category. The rest of the teams going up to number three, three through nine, either have three or four wins. So it's really anyone's game. And then obviously you have Dustin and Shane up at the top. So talk to me a little bit about who's your favorite right now if you had to plant your flag other than yourself? Because I know you want to say that. No, I can't lie and I hate to jump on a bandwagon here, but it's got to be the Goofy Gang. Dustin's team is extremely strong. I know he's dealing with some injuries, but he's still able to turn out wins regardless. He's got Justin Jefferson just waiting for playoffs. David Montgomery is soon to come back any week now. It's a strong team and he's definitely a force to be reckoned with. I see him staying atop. However, there is a fraud in these rankings. A fraud you say? You know, Bolton crushing clergy, Shane Manet is a fraud. He's a fake, it's- Call him out right here, right now. Have you played him yet? I don't think he'd make a losing trade today, but I already was predicting a downfall for him. I think that team, he's got some big names, but I don't think it's enough to carry. I think he's holding on to too much risk. I don't think it's going to go well for him. So I'm saying Shane is going to take a dive down the standings. That's my bold prediction. Shane's team has had the fortunate luck of having the lowest points scored against him this year. He has also put up 850 points, which is not bad, but it's not nearly as good as Dustin's, up at 1,000, and they share the same record. I believe Dustin actually lost to Shane earlier this season. So if that gives you any context, which all the more impressive. So you're saying Shane's team is frauds. I think we have someone else who shares their same record on here who would like to say some words about Shane's team. What's up, guys? It's your lead leader, your boy. Shane, I know you're not listening to this, but if you are, what's up? It was nice on the top, wasn't it? Well, unfortunately, you can only put up 120 and win five games in a row so long. Now is 120 a bad score, Dustin? I mean, it's all right. But if you're trying to win chips, you can't put up 120 every night and expect to win a chip. Spoken from the league leader himself, ladies and gentlemen. Calling the clergymen out. All right, well, thank you, Dustin. Thank you for joining on the spot. We appreciate you. So moving on, Woody, I would like to ask, which one of those group teams do you see rising after this week? Maybe taking a playoff spot, maybe making a playoff push. Who knows? It's all up to you. What do you want to talk about? Yeah, yeah, there's a couple of teams I like in this really muddled middle pack. I feel like there's a good group of five or so teams that are just really just drawn at sticks and competing against each other in the middle. I like Quack Pack in the future. To be completely honest, I did not like his draft. I thought he had a very bad draft. I was not high on it. A lot of people would agree. I think a lot of us looked at it, and as we do every year, we say, what is he doing? And then it turns out that he ends up having a competitive squad, and we were all just wrong. It turns out the three-time champion knows a little bit about fantasy football. Who would have thought? Yeah, I see Breece Hall on the come up. I like the Quack Pack, man. I like him. I think he's going to make a playoff push. I also like Dogs Up In This Mug. I can't believe I'm saying this about a Joe Stockert-run team, but I like the team, and he just made a very good trade for himself today. Not even one that he offered. Shane offered him that trade, and I think he won that trade big time. Aaron Jones is a great pickup. I know he's been dealing with injuries, but he also has elite upside. So I love that trade for Joe. I see him coming up. He's at three and four right now. I could see him getting eight wins this season. Well, that's spicy right there, especially since Joe is currently only have 794 points four in this league, which is good enough for third to last. But it's a bold take show, ladies and gentlemen, and he made a bold trade today. So guess what? We'll see if that works out for him. So what's a team in the middle pack that you feel, you know, if hypothetically, because I think that your answer would probably be the answer that everyone would give currently for who would end up being last. But let's just say that team in question rips off five wins at the end of the year, finishes with six wins. That's never gotten last place. I don't think it would this year. Who do you think takes that other spot as being last if, hypothetically, some things shake up? Hypothetically, you know, it is possible. You know, Kyle and Williams could come back better than ever. Who knows? Um, but that last place. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Squeak Squad, but it's you. It's you. And why is that? There's a lot of weaknesses going on here. Obviously, he's got some star running backs in Saquon and Eckler, but I don't think they can they can carry the squad here. That's not going to do it. You need to be well rounded. And this team is not well rounded. Why is that? You look at that wide receiver room. I've seen a lot of wide receiver twos. I've seen a lot of a lot of guys that just aren't the guy. You know, no star. You see, you see Jalen Waddle. He's not the guy. I need you. Just the guy. Yes, sir. Terry McLaurin. I don't think he's the guy. I think there's a real scary Terry, but I like the guy. There's a real sharing of targets over there. You got Amari Cooper. That one, great talent, but without a consistent quarterback output. I don't think you're really going to see him hit his ceiling here this year, at least. Also, same Howell as a starting quarterback right now. Really? You know it's bad when you got when you got old Sammy boy up there. Philly's defense, too, going up this week. I don't know. Do you think he throws for yards? Do you think he can get the ball out of his hands before that massively overpowered Eagles defensive line is in his face? And then let's let's talk about the elephant in the room. Joe Mixon. Back to hurt him again. Oh, I mean, when you're making these these choices. I mean, how many how many times do you want to get hurt by Joe Mixon? And how many times is it ever going to end? There's no doubt about it. I'm ready to be hurt again. Wow, that was spicy, ladies and gentlemen. And we'll be right back to finish off the show after a word from our very special sponsor. And we are back, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for listening to our advertisement. We received no ad revenue. So every bit of your support helps every bit. Anyway, like and subscribe, like and subscribe this podcast that doesn't exist. Outside of the circle, of course. But anyway, I feel like I feel like we made some bold takes. We've planted our flag today. Man, we've called some teams out, complimented some other teams. Woody, I gotta say you've made some good trades this year, man. I really like what you've done with the team. I didn't believe in Kamara. I wasn't a believer, but I am now. And you know what? Sometimes you got to be a little bit bold. So I feel like you were the perfect man for this segment. Anyway, I wanted to ask one final question. And last week, obviously, I had the question for Ian about who would help him eat some waffles in Waffle House. And based on your prediction, sounds like he might need a little bit of Eddie Lacy in his life coming up after this season. But you're a man who has really planted his flag on quarterbacks this year. You have asked me to increase the limit of quarterbacks on our roster, which is a big which has never been something that I've ever had to consider. It's not like I have these restrictions on there to, you know, plan out some evil scheme. I do it just so that, you know, there's a little bit of fairness and balance to the league. And also because who needs more than three quarterbacks? I mean, if you're doing- Value is value, my friend. Value is value. Man, I disagree. But that's just me. That's just me. I'm not the one who's, you know, currently four and three with a pretty solid roster. So before we head out and before I ask you the one final question, I just had one more that came to mind. Is there anyone that you wanted to say is available for trade that for the right price, of course, maybe one player on your team for the right price that you would be willing to move off of? Sure. Yeah. I know what people want me to say. I'm not going to say that. Bjorn, he's mine for now. I'm going to ride that wagon until the wheels fall off. We beat that one to death earlier today. So- We did. I've got a few more. You tried. You tried. I tried. But looking at my roster, I do have- The one thing I do have a lot of is wide receiver depth. So I could be looking to make a change there. I'm talking Devante Smith, Deontay Johnson. Your boy. Even if you want- Tyler Lockett, if you want to give it a go. One player, Josh. One player. This isn't a trade frenzy episode, man. Come on. One guy. If I had to pick one guy, Devante Smith would be the guy. I think he has a lot of upside. I don't think A.J. Brown can sustain the output he's had for the entire season. You've got to throw to this Heisman winner at some point in time. He's getting some targets. He just hasn't had the big splash plays. And look, he was the PPR wide receiver 9-10 last year. So the guy is more than capable. I'd be telling Devante Smith that if someone had something good for me. All right. Hey, you know what? I respect it. And I'm a big old fan of A.J. Brown. And this has been an incredible run that he's been on. So I will say. I think that Smith might have some upside moving forward. I heard he's got some upside this year, as some might say. But one final question. Since you love your quarterback so much, if you could take the female version of any current NFL quarterback home as your significant other to meet your parents, who would it be and why? Oh, it's Matt Ryan, hands down. Matt Ryan himself. Why is that? Matty Ice. Look, I've always been a guy for the brunettes. And I don't mind a cougar. I prefer a sugar mama. And you know what else? I like to do a lot of activities. I like to spend time. And last I checked, he's got a pretty open schedule. So he's also technically not retired. So that does count as an answer. I think we'd have a good time together. I know he seems like a pretty decent human in female form. He might look pretty good, you know, little milf action, maybe. I don't know. Maybe bring him home to the parents. Hopefully they like him or her in this scenario. I'm not a homosexual. Like, I'll say that on air. But yeah, Matt Ryan, Matty Ice, baby. Hey, that's a perfect, that's his perfect girl name right there, Matty. How would Minshew feel about this? Seems like you just moving off of Minshew mania for no reason. All of that sturdy, solid, you know, teen cornerstone, your team mascot and dynasty. And you just, you just refuse to put up with it. And you just, you just refuse to put him in your lineup. You wanted to play Danny Dimes over him. Eric Carr, you can't throw the ball more than five yards without throwing his receiver. If I had to make an analogy, I'd say he's more equatable to, you know, the side girl, the mistress. How's Minshew going to feel about that one? Not real good, but let me tell you, those luscious locks, they, I like to run my fingers through them, let me tell you. All right, well, on that note, I'm going to cut this episode shorter than, uh, than we could make it. And I appreciate you guys for, uh, for tuning in. And, uh, maybe we'll have something special next week for you. Hey, thanks for having me, man. I've had a great time. Talk to you a little bit about, come on, come on. Do you like waffles? Yeah, we like waffles. Do you like pancakes? Yeah, we like pancakes. Do you like French toast? Yeah, we like French toast. Do you like French toast? Yeah, we like French toast.
