The speaker is excited about the start of college football season. They discuss their favorite team, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and their upcoming schedule. They also mention a few sleeper teams to watch and their predictions for the Heisman Trophy. The speaker expresses their support for their head coach and their hopes for a successful season. how's it going how you doing what it do baby you know that beat by now you know that banger you know that is the sound of the college football function you know this voice by now it must be Monday nights with your boy cousin Mike coming at you with this bonus episode that I promised earlier in the week of course it is August 25th it is a Friday and we are less than 24 hours away from college football season ladies and gentlemen it is upon us not gonna be able to sleep tonight just because I know what's around the corner and I know what comes on tomorrow it is the start of college football season has came I take a deep breath because we are here baby I am so excited I seriously I probably will not be able to sleep tonight not even kidding I'm so ready I know the matchups are not the best but I I told you I don't know what episode it was I don't care who's playing I want to watch college football and at the end of the episode of course got a couple of you know matchups that you should watch tomorrow or today you know however you're listening of course I'm recording this on a Friday but give you the matchups you know the best ones I know there's not very good ones you know there's two decent games but I'm gonna talk about them and then on the agenda today we of course are going crystal balling we're gonna talk about the last team I'm gonna break down the last team you know the schedule wise talk about them and I'm talking about a team near and dear to my heart I am literally a quarter of a mile away from Texas Tech Stadium the Jones I am a diehard Texas Tech Red Raider I have red and black tattooed on me I bleed red and black I know I say I'm an Ohio State fan but that's my secondary team that is just if Tech ain't playing you know I'm watching Ohio State that's just that's just how it is I know there's probably a lot of people out there that probably say Sam you can't be a Ohio State fan if you're a Tech man and vice versa but it's just those two teams are just near and dear in my heart but my number one true love is Texas Tech you know I have lived here most of my life I have been to over 50 Texas Tech home games I'd say over 50 but I know guaranteed at least 50 so I've seen every single coach play I've seen Patrick Mahomes play Michael Crabtree Graham Harrell Wes Welker Danny Amendola you name them if they if it was the late 90s all the way up until last year I have seen them play seeing all the different coaches we've had so on and so forth good times and bad times but I am a diehard Red Raider and we are going to talk about them and then I'm going to give you a couple sleeper teams you know teams that I did not break down you know of course didn't have enough time you know I did I did a whole bunch you know I did a whole lot of blue bloods I did a whole couple of teams to keep your eye on but I got a couple more teams that I'm not gonna break them down I'm just gonna name them and these teams can make some noise and get into the top 25 you know contend for their conference knock some off some of these big boys easily and then just teams to watch and then next part of the episode is going to be my Heisman pickers you know my Heisman picks I guess I should say and then a couple of sleepers and then just players to watch for especially if you're an NFL fan you can watch these guys live in action and you know if you're a Steelers fan if you are a Ravens fan watch some of these guys and some of these guys will fit exactly what you do at the second level and you can watch them in their college days and get a fast track up to you know next year's draft remember up until April you know and I'm just gonna talk a whole bout a whole bunch of guys and then of course give you a couple of games to watch and that'll be it so I got a jam packed episode no more talking no more news like I said there's no news nothing happened since last time we talked so of course it could happen in the middle of season it might not happen at all but let's move into the crystal ball let's talk about my Texas Tech Red Raiders members of the Big 12 first started playing football in 1925 located of course in my hometown Lubbock Texas they play their football at Jones AT&T Stadium nicknamed the Jones I remember a long time ago it has it's been maybe a little bit last year and but mostly in those middle early 2000s teams did not want to come down here and play especially if you played at night this is a crazy home field advantage crazy fans our stadium holds 60,000 454 currently under remodel if you do watch the Oregon game here in a couple of weeks you'll see some of it kind of done but the rest of it will be done next year and it's going to be one of the coolest looking stadiums and all of the Big 12 for sure and then up to contend with some of the best you know stadium environments how it looks aesthetically at least not the biggest stadium but it's going to look very cool it's going to have a very distinct look it's going to have a little different look than a lot of stadiums but it's going to be cool looking we have 585 total wins not up there I know we are the little brother of Texas for sure can we be a contender for the Big 12 going forward absolutely 585 wins is nothing to sneeze at but you know we'll get up there in the 600s because but of course you know 1925 you know a lot of these schools that I've talked about started playing football in the 1800s you know we just barely started less than a hundred years ago so we're getting up there we've won 11 conference titles haven't won one in a while but maybe this year will change that of course we have zero national championships and zero Heisman's you know that's it is what it is does it hurt to say absolutely but you know we were not a blue bluff I mean it is what it is you know we are the Texas Tech Red Raiders we make some noise every once in a while but we are we've been irrelevant probably for the last 10 years but we are trying to get back to national prominence maybe kind of scratch the surface of a blue blood but you know you got to win games you got to get to some big games you got to knock off really good teams so on and so forth but maybe this year can change that Joey McGuire is our second year head coach he went eight and five last year averaged out to a 61% winning percentage speaking directly from the front lines literally like I said before I am a quarter of a mile away from the stadium I can walk to the stadium where I live and that guy has really done a lot of good things for this town you know we had a really good recruiting class love the way he talks love the way he listens he does his interviews love how he pumps up the team he is definitely the man for the job he has Lubbock has his back for sure and we're gonna show out for him for sure so if you do not know and I didn't do not know the name Joey McGuire you will soon and possibly at the end of the year and he is our head guy and he is a hell of a coach I would die for that man let's get into the schedule shall we first week September 2nd we take a road trip this is something that I haven't seen Tech do in a while usually we start our year at home you know of course against a non-conference opponent but this year we have to go to Wyoming to play the Cowboys gonna be a tough game you know I know Wyoming is not up there I mean not gonna sneeze on any cowboy fans up there at all but I think the greatest thing that's ever happened to Wyoming was was it Josh Allen you know I think it was I'm pretty sure I'm not sure but we're gonna win that game start off 1-0 week 2 September 9th I've already done Oregon this is when Oregon comes into my hometown I'm still trying I know the game is sold out but I got a couple of strings I can pull or might be able to get to go to the game but Oregon like I said it's coming here to Lubbock I did Oregon predict their schedule earlier this year and they lose to my Texas Tech Red Raiders so we get that dub right there week 3 September 16th we welcome in Tarleton State I actually will be at this game for sure I got these tickets on my birthday from my old lady she is taking me to a Tech game keep my streak alive something I didn't really want to brag about but I have going gone to at least one Texas Tech home game every year since I was 8 years old and you know some years are more and some years is only one but I will keep my streak alive September 16th Tarleton State comes into town we get that dove going 3-0 week 4 September 23rd starts conference season put a star next to this game I put a question mark next to this game we got to go up to West Virginia to play the Mountaineers definitely not a good team do they have their backs against the wall absolutely could they knock my Red Raiders off absolutely definitely a team that we should not be you know we should be cautious against we should this should be a trap game that's a hard place to play you know up there in West Virginia it's cross-country it's a long trip but West Virginia keeps it close keeps it interesting but my Red Raiders still win by 7-10 week 5 September 30th come back home we welcome in Houston the newest members of the big 12 not real was the words I could think of not real scared I mean not not really what I'm thinking but anyway Houston we've played them before we've probably I think we played them two or three times past five years they're not really an unfamiliar opponent coming to the big 12 playing at home we're going to get that dove right there week 6 October 7th we take a road trip to Waco to play the Baylor Bears Baylor came into our house last year and beat our ass I mean the one game I think last year that Tech just did not play very well I know we lost to K-State K-State put a good little whooping on us I think we only lost by you know 10-14 points to TCU last year at their home and then losing the K-State last year I mean I'm sorry K-State Baylor they came in on Patrick Mahomes night he was getting inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame you know he was there you know I had this whole ceremony for him and Baylor just came out and whooped our ass but I think we go down to Waco and lose I'm sorry but Dave Aranda you know that's where Jordan McGuire came from he was underneath Dave Aranda at Baylor and I think he knows his tricks so I hope I'm wrong I hope we go to Waco and win but we could lose that game easily for sure week 7 October 14th we welcome in K-State losing to Baylor the week before we really come out and beat up on K-State and I have done K-State and they lose that game so we win right there week 8 October 21st take a road trip put a star next to this game and a question mark next to this game we go to BYU the new another new addition to the you know the big 12 not real sure you know I'm very unfamiliar with the BYU Cougars the only things I really know about BYU is like you know Ty Detmer you know Zach Wilson not really sure about the BYU Cougars I can't remember the last time I really watched a BYU game I just know I think they play Texas earlier in the year and I think the Longhorns have to go there so I'm pretty sure I'm going to really pay attention to that game I just do not know anything about BYU but I said we go up there and we beat the Cougars for their first win for our first win against BYU in the big 12 conference week 9 October 28th is our bye great time for a bye you know it between 7 8 9 is when you really want to bye you know gives you some time to get ready for the last part of your season week 10 November 2nd we welcome in at TCU I did TCU and I predicted them to beat us that week because I did not know that that was our bye week the same week as TCU this is going to be a lot closer than I think but I did predict TCU to beat us so I got to give us the L right there week 11 November 11th we take a road trip to Lawrence to play the Kansas Jayhawks definitely a sleeper team for sure in the big 12 they have the preseason player of the year in Jalen Daniels and gonna be tough but we go up to Lawrence and we beat the Kansas Jayhawks I'm going to knock on wood real quick and we've done pretty good against Kansas over the past 15-20 years I don't can't remember the last time we lost to Kansas and there's a lot of teams in the big 12 not gonna say any names that have a trouble with Kansas every single year and every once in a while Kansas will beat them but not the Texas Tech Red Raiders we kind of had their number that's why I knocked on wood hopefully we go up there and win week 12 November 18th we welcome in another new addition to the big 12 it's the UCF Golden Knights definitely another team that's a little sleeper and then I'm also very unfamiliar with the only teams in Florida that I really pay attention to I'm sorry UCF but Florida Gators of course you know Miami Hurricanes there's a lot of good teams in Florida and UCF sorry I hate to say it but you ain't one you haven't been one I know you claimed to be national championship national champions that one year I don't know if it was 2017 can't really remember what year it was but you claimed a national championship because you went undefeated now's your chance you know you're in a big boy conference now and you get to come to Lubbock but you get that L right there to my Texas Tech Red Raiders November 18th week 13 last week of the season this is Black Friday November 24th we go to Austin to play the Texas Longhorns did the Texas Longhorns and they lose to my Texas Tech Red Raiders that week send them off to the SEC with a little kick in the ass a nice two-year loss to my Texas Tech Red Raiders adios see you later good luck in the SEC looks like my Texas Tech Red Raiders go 10 and 2 floor for my Texas Tech Red Raiders I hate to say it is another seven or eight win season the Oregon game means so much to us this year we lose that game we could possibly lose a couple or more you know but the good thing about our schedule I do like is all of our hard are more more challenging games against teams that actually did something last year we all get them at home you know we get Oregon at home we get K-State at home the reigning Big 12 champs we get TCU at home you know the National Runners-Up last year UCF at home and then going to Baylor and BYU are two just question marks Baylor could be very good they could be a very sneaky team and then BYU the uncertainty that not sure who they are what kind of you know team they are that's going to be a question mark I'm kind of glad that we don't play them until the middle of the season because we can get some tape on them they could be good they could be bad hell I don't know same thing with UCF but that's neither here nor there let's move on let's put the crystal ball away but actually no let's keep it out I did say I got some sleeper teams you know I did not break down I didn't do their schedule I didn't talk about them just because I didn't have enough time I can't do 133 you know teams I can't break them all down you know I just did the Blue Bloods and a couple of sleepers but these are also some sleepers that I just did not get a chance to talk about first one is Notre Dame National Powerhouse for sure you know those gold helmets you know the green Notre Dame always comes on TV they you know they remind me of the Cubs and Braves of the 90s you know that you had cable you could watch the Cubs and Braves those are the only two teams that were always on every single day same thing with Notre Dame if you have NBC you can watch Notre Dame I think every one of their games is always on national TV for sure how they can do what they're supposed to do this year should they you know run the table it's gonna come down to their quarterback Sam Hartman transfer from Wake Forest can he you know take over this team and make it his team and prove that he is a good quarterback because they have a tough schedule and they need to start fast if they start fast you know and start accumulating some wins I know they play like Clemson they play like Ohio State they have a really tough schedule and USC they went to or all those games you could see them in the college football playoff at the end of the year especially with an 11 and 1 or an undefeated year Notre Dame could be very scary it's just can they start fast and can they win those games that they're probably not going to be favored in also the University of Tennessee very scary team I really wish I could have talked about them but um you know losing Hinden hooker losing Jalen Hyatt they got some question marks I do do I believe that their offense is going to take a step back maybe a little bit it's going to come down to the quarterback and still melt in the third a lot of people were saying that he is a lot like hooker he is going to play a lot like hooker and he even has a better arm than hooker so can he step in and you know run that crazy air raid Josh Hyppel style offense and really contend for the SEC because a lot of people will probably forget it wasn't just Georgia last year it was Tennessee that was up there in the top five most of the year they were blowing people out and if it wasn't for an ugly rainy just ugly game against Georgia last year they could have won that game if it wasn't just so nasty rainy you know when you throw the ball you know 65 70% of the time rainy ugly nasty games are not in your favor especially against a team like Georgia that will run it down your throat play some really good defense that's just how it is but Tennessee look out for them and if they were a flash in the pan or are they starting to be a consistent powerhouse in the SEC we shall see I'm gonna go out west talk about the Washington Huskies they have zero amount of pressure I you know I watch college football shows I you know I'm on social media not a lot of people are talking about the Washington Huskies it is all about USC you know Caleb Williams people are talking about Utah who else Oregon you know Oregon's getting a lot of hype but you know the Washington Huskies are kinda under the radar you know and those are some scary teams that you know those coaching staff still say hey no one's talking about you go out and make them talk about you and bulletin board material and Washington is a powerhouse up there in the Pac-12 so be careful of the Washington Huskies they can make some noise this year as well going to the ACC conference we're talking about the University of North Carolina the Tar Heels should have talked about them but like I said ran out of time great head coach you know Mac Brown definitely know that guy not the biggest fan of his you know because he kind of did own my Texas Tech Red Raiders for a very long time but I respect the hell out of him he's an older guy you know I think he's up there in his 60s maybe even early 70s and he's showing that he's a great coach because he's done it twice and you know two different universities he's doing it up there in North Carolina as well they're also another team not a whole lot of pressure on them not a lot of people are really talking about them yeah you hear whispers every once in a while about them but for the most part in the ACC you're hearing about Clemson of course you're hearing about Florida State a lot of those teams are being predicted to win the ACC in North Carolina with a coach like Mac Brown he's gonna have his boys ready and do not be surprised if North Carolina does something that they've been trying to do for the past couple years and contend for an ACC championship and I also want to see Drake May definitely a guy I have talked about this could be a top five you know draft pick come April easily but I want to see how good he can be without his quarterback coach and offensive coordinator he left you know in the offseason so is he a good quarterback or was he just a product of his offensive coordinator quarterback coach their system so I really want to see if he is as good a quarterback as everybody is predicting so we will see about the University of North Carolina want to see I want to talk about A&M just another team not a lot of pressure SEC of course has always been Georgia Bama even last year talking about you know Tennessee LSU it's the stat conference it is the best conference in college football there is no question there is no doubt but two years ago they had the number one recruiting class in all of college football and last year didn't plan out for shit I do believe they went five and seven did not make a bowl game I know they beat I think it was Tennessee last year for you know a real good quality win easily but Jimbo Fisher that's you know fire under your seats get a little hot you can't have you know a really good recruiting class two years ago and it not plan out especially with the money that's been spent so on and so forth they have a target on their back but they're also one of the teams that can make some noise if everything hits everything works out right for A&M and then can make some noise as well South Carolina talk about the Gamecocks they're another team no pressure nobody's really talking about them I want to see how Spencer Rattler does a lot of people will know that name of course he was at Oklahoma oh Kayla Williams thing happened so on and so forth so he went to South Carolina to play football there because he was going to get the starting spot can he back that up because he was one of the top quarterback recruits a couple of years ago I do believe it was like 2020 2021 not real sure but it was around that time and of course he was one of the best recruits in the country so can he live up to it and also South Carolina's schedule is ranked one of the hardest schedules in all of college football I know they have to play and I think Bama Georgia LSU I mean they play so many hard teams and you know a couple of them are going to be on the road but if they you know cut real off a couple of them you know maybe go nine and three ten and two but also they can they have the potential to knock off some big boys in the SEC and also the last one I'm going to talk about is Tulane the green wave if you've been listening to me for over a year you know that I was a just a big fan of the Tulane green wave last year did some great things you know they were a just a team that you just were rooting for there's that underdog there you know I do believe that they were in I can't remember I don't know if they left conferences this offseason but I know they're in the American Athletic this year and they're kind of favored to you know win that conference and I know they lost TyJ Spears definitely one of my favorite players from last year but can they live up to that hype can they have that foundation year they had last year and just take that next step and be relevant because who's to say Tulane wins another 10 wins this year and maybe the big 12 goes after him you know so you know you want to win you won't you don't want to be in a lesser conference you want to be in a bigger conference you want to step up and win class and if Tulane you know wins 20 games in two years that is definitely claims to say hey pick me I'll help your conference I'll put some eyes on your conference I'll make it interesting also the UTSA Roadrunners also another team in the American Athletic for sure that can make some noise Traylor I do believe is the coach down there in San Antonio and he's been doing some really good things I do believe that those two teams them and Tulane are the best teams in that conference they might be playing each other at the end of the year for the conference championship but these teams they have every no pressure you know they Tulane I know is ranked though AP top 25 I do believe they came in at 25 exactly and they're gonna have a little bit of pressure on them but can they win their schedules not you know the hardest because they're really not playing the best of the best but you got to play the schedule that's in front of you so I can see Tulane you know possibly making some noise so those are my sleeper teams teams to watch out for pay attention to if I talk about them later in the year to watch please watch them for sure alright let's put that away those are the teams to watch out for pay attention to and don't be surprised if they knock off a big boy or you know towards the end of the year have a you know a shot at getting into the playoff all right let's talk about some Heisman guys some guys who could possibly win the Heisman and also some players to keep an eye out for for you know your awards that's quarterback receiver you know so on and so forth I got a big list for you so without further ado I got three tiers I'm gonna start off with my tier ones these are all probably names you probably have heard for sure and then we're gonna get into tier two these guys maybe you know who you are where they are or if you are a fan of that team you definitely know who that guy is and then my tier three is gonna be probably 75% guys that you don't know but could make some noise could contend for trophies at the end of the year for best position so on and so forth but also when it comes to draft time can these guys I will probably be talking about dang near every single one of these guys when it comes draft time breaking them down because I kind of want to give you guys advice to as well guys to look out for so when you're watching these games and then when it comes to draft time you go man I remember X he played against so and so and had a really good game I watched him with my own eyes so you can be well prepared when it comes to the draft process as well let's start off with tier one these are guys you probably know about more than likely the Heisman will come from this tier Caleb Williams don't need to say much more about that gonna have a great year I do believe he is going to put up monster stats if he stays healthy but I just do not see him winning back-to-back Heisman's it is so hard it's only been done by Archie Griffin and I don't see it that ever happened and again Drake May is the other one this is another guy that is you know if he has a really good year you know stats wise put some wins together he's going to be talked about as one of the best quarterbacks going into the draft process in April I have talked about him as well at North Carolina Jaden Daniels the quarterback for LSU great quarterback I mean he is a hell of a stud LSU has a tough schedule it's going to come down to him if he has a great year statistically leads those LSU Tigers to where I think they can be Jaden Daniels is a name that you should pay attention to Jordan Travis is another one the quarterback for Florida State the thing is Jaden Daniels and Jordan Travis play each other first week one of those guys is going to take a step back starting week one you know you go oh no one at all are all in one I should say it kind of hurts you you know you're gonna have a tough schedule you got to win out especially if you are a team like Florida State and LSU that is going to contend for their conference title and try to get the playoff you can't be a two loss team and make it to the playoff everybody knows that so Jordan Travis quarterback Florida State another guy that he just like LSU he has everything on his shoulders can he have a good year lead that team to prominence he could be invited to New York Bo Nix quarterback of Oregon guys been there for a while can he do it you know can he have that pressure he has been a good quarterback for a couple years can he take that next step take Oregon to you know the Pac-12 championship take them to the college football playoff Oregon has a lot of eyes on him this year they got a lot of lights Bo Nix is the guy that can possibly do it Quinn yours I have to talk about him quarterback of Texas Longhorns five-star recruit definitely one of the best recruits that Texas has had the past five years but they do it every year can he take that step he's going to have Archie Manning right behind him and what's I can't think of the dang kid's name but um not Archie Manning Cooper Manning's son Art was it Art oh hell man I'm sorry I should have thought about that my bad I did not write it down everybody's probably screaming at me so-and-so Manning but yes Cooper Manning's son is in Austin but Quinn yours is there for the job he has to take it and he has to keep that little Manning boy off his ass and if he has a good year they know they win 10-11 or go undefeated Quinn yours could be in New York as well Dylan Gabriel the quarterback for OU I don't know if I should have put him in my tier one that guy has some question marks I do believe he was at UCF you know suffered a horrendous injury left UCF and came to Oklahoma Oklahoma didn't have a very good year last year I know they were breaking in a new head coach but that is not an excuse especially for the teams like Oklahoma they are expected to win 10 games every single year can Dylan Gabriel take them over that hump and make Oklahoma relevant especially right before they leave the big 12 to join the SEC JJ McCarthy quarterback of the Michigan Wolverines definitely a guy that is I I love his game I will love watching him that Michigan offense is a juggernaut I mean golly they're a hell of a team Michigan is definitely got a whole lot of eyes on him the future is definitely bright with the Michigan Wolverines JJ McCarthy is a great quarterback he's not a really wing it kind of guy he's not gonna throw the ball 50 60 times but he is going to get you those yards and get you those first downs score those touchdowns when you really need it and then he's established as well he's been there for a while he's running mate Blake Coram in my opinion he was better running back than Dijon Robinson last year I know that is going to be a hot take and I know you everybody's probably like oh that's because you hate the Longhorns bullshit that dude was putting up some really good numbers last year and if it wasn't for him getting hurt I do believe he would have won the Doak Walker award last year instead of Dijon Robinson so and if he wouldn't got hurt I think maybe you know he would have got drafted a little bit around Dijon Robinson to not talking shit about Dijon not one bit is he a hell of a you know running back absolutely but a lot of people forget that Blake Coram was running away with the Doak Walker award last year and even talking about Heisman last year before he got hurt he was having a hell of a year so watch out for Blake Coram Sam Hartman the quarterback for Notre Dame he's got some pressure on him you know you're the head coach you're the quarterback of Notre Dame can you you know get them Notre Dame is hungry Notre Dame is one of those you know franchises one of those universities that haven't been a prominence in a while I do believe that they went to the college football playoff nine years ago eight years ago can't really remember what year but they got blown out they have not been very good I'm not saying very good but expectations are kind of like oh you there are blue blood they expect to win 10 11 games every single year can Sam Hartman do it for Notre Dame Michael Penix jr. quarterback of UW this guy is great I watched him at Indiana I do believe he took the Indiana team and the Hoosiers team and said hey we're a football school as well he was pretty good there transferred out to UW pretty sure that's where he came from I know that name I could be wrong I am so sorry but Michael Penix jr. quarterback of UW if you don't make some noise don't be surprised that Michael Penix jr. is the straw that stirs the drink last but not least Marvin Harrison jr. wide receiver Ohio State big-time baller man if Ohio State wants to contend for the Big Ten championship this year it has to go through Marvin Harrison jr. I know their quarterback room is a little cloudy I'm not really even sure who their starting quarterback is but whoever it is you look to Marvin Harrison jr. as often and as often as possible that guy needs to have 10 catches a game in 100 yards and a touchdown a game for Ohio State to be relevant I know they're going to try to run the ball a little bit more especially with an unproven quarterback but Marvin Harrison jr. is the best wide receiver and could be a top-five traffic in April absolutely let's get into tier two Cade Club Nick sorry a huge recruit out of Clemson he stepped up last year DJ ugulele whatever his name was sorry he stepped up he really had a great year for Clemson I know Clemson kind of didn't do as good as they usually do but they still won 10 games and Cade Club Nick is going to have another you know a little bit more games underneath his belt he can make a big step forward especially with Garrett Riley as his offensive coordinator in Clemson so don't be surprised you don't hear the name Cade Club Nick middle of the year or the end of the year Tanner Mordecai the quarterback of Wisconsin same thing I do believe he was at I can't really remember where he was I want to say Wisconsin I could be wrong I'm not real sure but I know yeah he is in Wisconsin right but I feel like he was somewhere else and transferred to Wisconsin great quarterback and they're gonna sling the ball a little bit up there in Wisconsin it's not going to be the Wisconsin that you if you're a Wisconsin fan they're not gonna be smash mouth anymore they're gonna try to throw the ball a little bit and Tanner Mordecai is gonna have to do it himself Grayson McCall quarterback for Coastal Carolina this is another guy Coastal Carolina is definitely not a team that gets talked about a lot you know I do believe that they have a good baseball program but every once while you hear them their football program Grayson McCall is the guy that runs it and could have a good year as well Will Howard quarterback of K-State being in a power conference being the reigning Big 12 conference champions Will Howard is the guy that stirs the drink he could make some serious noise especially after losing Deuce Vaughn a lot of players on their defense is going to come down to Will Howard and can K-State repeat as the Big 12 champs Spencer Rattler gotta talk about him South Carolina I think I've talked about him already earlier in the episode can he do it can he go to another program and make them relevant and win some hard games Spencer Rattler could do it as well Joe Milton quarterback of Tennessee a hell of a hell of a guy I saw him a little bit last year at the end of the year when Hendon Hooker went down with the knee and he has a hell of an arm and that offense is going to really show off what he can do and Tennessee is going to be really relying on him can he have a really good year Cam Rising the quarterback of Utah the back-to-back running Pac-12 champs and he is the reason why he is a hell of a quarterback Utah is starting to get you know a little bit more eyes on them those you know mountain teams don't always really get a whole lot of recognition and Cam Rising is a sleeper for sure in the Pac-12 future Big 12 guy DJ Ugalele Oregon State that's another team I should have talked about Oregon State can make some noise in the Pac-12 this year and DJ is coming in with a little chip on his shoulder you know he left Clemson he's going to Oregon State and Oregon State team that could easily win eight nine or ten games upset the likes of you know Oregon you know USC Utah and make their state as you know hey look at us you know we're not even affiliated with the Pac-12 anymore because the Pac-12 is going away so DJ you could definitely make some noise at Oregon State this year Devin Leary the quarterback of Kentucky another guy Kentucky doesn't really get talked to much unless it's basketball season he can do his thing in Kentucky a running back Quin Sean Judkins sorry running back for Ole Miss saw this guy last year playing against Tech in the Texas Bowl we kind of stuffed him but he was doing his thing in the SEC last year and he is coming back definitely one of the top running backs in the country next year last year and this year so don't be surprised if the offense of Ole Miss runs to Quin Sean Judkins down there in the running rebel state Austin Reed Western Kentucky quarterback this is a team that's a lot like Texas Tech they fling the ball don't be surprised if this guy has 4,500 yards and 45 50 touchdowns at the end of the year and if Western Kentucky go in some games this is a guy that could be talked about especially from draft Brock Bowers probably should have put this guy a little bit higher the best tight end in the country out of Georgia you know who that guy is definitely a guy that can be drafted top ten people saying he's the next Travis Kelsey I absolutely do see it and he even wears red you know and he is a stud I don't need to talk more about Brock Bowers guy is the best tight end in the country and like I said could be a top ten draft pick next year my first defensive player and it is just it I mean you watch this guy I watched him last year he was a freshman love his game I'm a defensive guy I played me some defensive line I played me a little bit of linebacker this is one of my favorite college football players seriously going into this year Harold Perkins jr. linebacker for LSU and he is going to be on full alert week one against LSU I mean Florida State sorry I love his game and he is a thumper he is one of those old-school linebackers he is fast he runs I think like a 4 3 4 4 40 200 and something pounds just a just a stud Harold Perkins jr. linebacker at LSU next guy another defensive guy cornerback out of Bama Kool-Aid McKinstry definitely a guy that could be drafted top 10 he is a sauce gardener he is a Joey Porter jr. prototype you know he is a stud standout quarterback he is probably going to be drafted first round next year but you can watch him firsthand from Bama Alabama Alabama quarterback sorry okay tier three these are guys that you don't know but you probably should know and if you do know these guys I am super proud of you and you were a college football fan these are also guys that pay attention to could make some noise at the end of the year wide receiver a Mecca Ibuka out of Ohio State this guy's going to be a running mate with Marvin Harrison jr. he was going he's going to be the number two guy Marvin Harrison jr. gets doubled don't be surprised if a Mecca Ibuka starts getting some recessions and starts getting some noise you know throwing at him as well Frank Harris quarterback of UTSA hell of a quarterback I see UTSA play a little bit last year he is the straw that stirs the drink I know I've said that a lot but he is a good quarterback he can make some noise Troy Benson the running back for Florida State if Jordan Travis is handing the ball off he's going to hand it off to him he is a stud he is a workhorse in the running back room for Florida State Raheem Sanders running back for Arkansas he's up there with Quenshawn Jenkins as one of the best running backs in the SEC and the country do not be surprised if he has a really good year the guy's going to get the rock about 30 times a game maybe even 35 Arkansas is a smash mouth type football team and Raheem Sanders is going to be the guy that's going to carry the rock Will Rogers the quarterback out of Mississippi State can he do it I mean he's going to have that team absolutely on his back they will go as far as Will Rogers takes them absolutely so watch out for Mr. Will Rogers from Mississippi State Bucky Irving the running back for Oregon gonna see that guy firsthand week two he's gonna come down to Lubbock and he's gonna take that pressure off Bo Nix they're gonna have to have a running attack at some point in time during the year especially playing in the Pac-12 when you have to go to these mountain teams and it might be a little bit of snow on the ground and every once in a while it rains you gotta have to have a running attack and Bucky Irving is the guy that can do it in Oregon Romain Idunze wide receiver for UW he could have a great year as well Michael Panix Jr. is going to be looking at him all year the dude can have a hell of a year for wide receiver Jalen Daniels I have to talk about him I probably should have put him higher but it's just Kansas you know he is the quarterback of course for the Kansas Jayhawks it's gonna have a lot of pressure he is the preseason Big 12 player of the year and he's gonna have a whole lot of pressure I just don't know with his surrounding he's gonna have to do it by himself and sometimes that is not the best thing to happen to you you gotta have weapons not sleeping on the Kansas Jayhawks not at all but he's going to have a lot of pressure on him can't he live up to it Richard Reese running back for Baylor saw this guy last year ran all over us he is a hell of a running back definitely one of the best running backs in all of the Big 12 so pay attention to him Will Shipley running back for Clemson another guy he is going to help out Cade Klovnik in Clemson and Garrett Riley up there in Clemson likes to use his running backs every once in a while you know kind of a running back by committee thing but they're always going to run some screens you know a running back needs to be a threat in the pass catching environment as well with Garrett Riley so can Will Shipley do that in Clemson and he could be a contender for the dope Xavier Worthy wide receiver for Texas Longhorns definitely a guy a number one receiver he is a hell definitely one of the best receivers in the Big 12 and I mean I'd love to talk shit about the Texas Longhorns but they are just star studded they get four and five star recruits every single year Xavier Worthy is one of them and he can make some noise in the Big 12 and in the nation for sure if he has a great year Frank Gore jr. yes Frank Gore jr. he has a boy and he's playing college football do you feel old yet running back of in Southern Miss I'm not reaching this is a stud if he's anything like his dad he could put up some noise he's gonna play for Southern Miss so you're not really gonna get to see him very often but if they start winning games they might start putting them on TV and he is it just you know you know who he is he is a son of a football player Frank Gore journeyman you know been all over the NFL had some really good years and just played till I think he was like 40 something but just Frank George Frank Gore jr. running back for Southern Miss Nicholas Singleton running back Penn State Eagle Howard pool there's that that's who the offense is going to run through up there in Happy Valley and Penn State's another one of those teams they like to run it down your throat and in order to be a team like Ohio State and Michigan you're going to have to run the ball and play really good defense this is a guy that can have the offense run through him Penn State can make some noise in the Big 10 you heard it here first Johnny Wilson wide receiver Florida State another guy Jordan Travis is going to be looking out for down there in Tallahassee could be hell of a guy he had so many receiving yards and touchdowns last year offense really ran through him they have a lot of mouths to feed down there in Florida State but this is a guy that has to eat for these Florida State Seminoles to make the noise that they are planning on making Braylon Allen running back for Wisconsin I know I said Wisconsin is going to try to throw the ball a little bit more this year because their offense was just so woeful do not be mistaken do not be downtrodden Wisconsin fans they are still going to try to run the ball as often and as and if it's working they're going to do it don't get me wrong they will definitely run the ball and Braylon Allen is the guy that's going to tote the rock hopefully he's like he has Rondane kind of you know talent in them for sure Jonathan Taylor absolutely he's going to be a guy running the rock for Wisconsin and if Wisconsin has a good year I think they're going to have this could be a guy talked about at the end of the year Aeneas Smith wide receiver Texas A&M definitely a guy that has to eat for Texas A&M to have a good year he has to eat could be a guy that could win the Balintnikoff is one of the best wide receivers in the country and a couple of names to talk about Tyler Shuck, Barron Morton, Taj Brooks, and Jaron Bradley Jr. all Texas Tech Red Raiders if we have a good year this year those are the guys that you could be hearing their name not just at the end of the year but come draft season for sure so I had to talk a little bit about my Texas Tech Red Raiders I mean I got to throw in a couple of them right at least I put them in tier three and not tier one right but anyway let's see here talked that oh yes one a couple more things and then I'm going to let go I know this is a longer episode than usual but got to talk about it you know this is the last summer episode technically before season starts and then it's going to be balls to the wall talking matchups breaking matchups down so on and so forth but I think it was January February March I came out with my college football playoff rankings at the you know who I thought was going to play for the national championship come you know 2024 I took Georgia at number one Ohio State at two USC at three OU at four at five Michigan at six was Clemson and at seven was my Texas Tech Red Raiders I'm going to change it up I I know those are predictions I know but that was so early but after everything I have done this summer and looking into so many schedules and predicting and so on and so forth I have to get a revised one right hey we all make mistakes I'm going to take that one as well but I got a new one this is going to be hopefully how it pans out come January I think at the end of December January whenever whatever it is the college football playoffs of this year this is my revised list coming in at number ten Wisconsin going to have a really good year I do believe they can they can make their claim in the big ten easily knock off a team like Michigan and Ohio State so on and so forth could have a great year at number nine Texas Longhorns can they do it though I probably a lot of people are predicting them to make the college football playoff predicting them the wig the big twelve I haven't seen it I know I love I know a lot of people out there going ah Mike you're a Texas Tech fan you hate the Longhorns they just don't do anything year after year they get these predictions and get this hype and you know patting them on the back but they just don't do anything with it show me prove me wrong Texas at nine though could have put them very much lower they could lose a couple of games this year as well at number eight my Texas Tech Red Raiders I know a lot of people are like oh you're gonna be a homer you're a homer you're a homer absolutely but I absolutely do believe that this team can be special like I said before when I predicted our schedule and talked a little bit about my boys we can win every single damn game this year we have a tough schedule absolutely but we play the best teams at home going to a couple of nervous you know home-filled environments on being a visitor but can we win 10 11 12 games this year and make ourselves nationally relevant again absolutely there's more than whispers going on in Lubbock Texas I hear our names being brought up along the lines of ESPN you know Fox Sports CBS there's a reason why we're going to be on national TV a lot this year because we're being predicted to be pretty good one of the best teams in the big 12 and I do believe we can take a step forward at number seven Penn State they I love your team Harpo love your schedule of course it's going to be tough playing Ohio State in Michigan but you can beat Michigan you're playing Michigan at home going to you know the horseshoe I know that's a tough thing but it is what it is can you have a good year absolutely could you go undefeated absolutely but I can see you guys only losing a couple of games either number six the Alabama Crimson Tide I know I predicted them to go 12 and 0 and that was a mistake on my part I am a man and I will admit that I made a mistake when it comes to the Alabama Crimson Tide their quarterback situation I do not know who their quarterback is absolutely do they have some of the best recruits in the country absolutely the best college football coach of all time absolutely but quarterback play means something but be putting them at six that's you know it's kind of a diff to Alabama absolutely they expect to be in the playoff every single year number five Ohio State same thing with Alabama I don't know who their quarterback is I don't know who's going to run that offense is Ryan Day a good head coach yeah he wins a lot of games absolutely but he's 0-2 against Michigan the past two years and this could be 3-0 he might not even be up there in Ohio State at the end of the year so that's just why I put Ohio State so low number four this might be a you know a head-scratcher but I got the LSU Tigers in there I know I predicted Florida State to beat LSU at the first of the year but if LSU wins that game against Florida State week one I could put them on a fast track to possibly winning the SEC east or west I can't I can't remember which one they are but making some noise and winning some games they got some winnable games on their schedule tough schedule absolutely but LSU can do it I love their quarterback and I love their coach and I love their defense those are three things that just makes me you know confident in the LSU Tigers they could make some noise in the SEC and make it to the college football playoff number three the Clemson Tigers Cade Clubnick this is going to be his second year Dabo Sweeney as their coach one of the best coaches in all of college football absolutely Clemson is just one of those teams you know they're not going to lose two games this year but if they do the sky is falling in Clemson number two is Georgia very easy schedule I predicted them could they lose one and still make the playoff absolutely not the hardest schedule I do love their coach they are the back-to-back rating national champions they should go undefeated or at worst lose one game and make it to the college football playoff yet again and number one the Michigan Wolverines I love their quarterback you know I love JJ McCarthy I love Blake Coram Jim Harbaugh is a hell of a coach and I love their schedule they just have so many check marks they have so many boxes that I checked Michigan is a great team I do believe they're the best team in the country could I could see them playing in the college football playoff national championship at the end of the year absolutely it would not surprise me so with that being said big shout outs to Canada India the United Kingdom Gabon Ireland Morocco and Poland all you fans out there across the oceans that listen to this country bumpkin down here in Lubbock Texas taught college football hope you enjoy yourself thank you for listening please please keep promoting this guys we want to see football function be all over the world we want to touch every single continent we want to touch every single country we want to be everywhere we want to be the greatest college I'm not just calling football but football podcast out there absolutely so time for me to bow out it's time for me to tap out time for me to bid you adieu and tell you that college football baby it is right around the corner it is literally a couple hours away hours away gonna get up in the morning watch me some college game day watch football dang near all day and that is another thing let's talk about some of those matchups sorry I will not bow just yet I will try to get through this as fast as possible UMass at New Mexico State I know this is going to be a snoozer game these are two of the worst football programs in all of college football I'm gonna call it the shit bowl but it comes on at 6 at E on ESPN so if you want that it's like I got that itch turn on the ESPN at 6 to watch two of the worst college football teams of the past five years absolutely Ohio at San Diego State this one also comes on at 6 this is on FS1 San Diego State could be a sleeper team that could be a scary team that could make some noise San Jose State at number 6 USC this one comes on at 7 o'clock on the Pac-12 network I'm not sure I don't have Pac-12 network so I can't watch it and I'm not going to somewhere to watch it either I'm not a big USC fan they're gonna have a good year hell I don't know but Lincoln Riley they're going to have a good offense and Lincoln Riley is synonymous for having shitty defenses you can ask Mike you know an OU fan I guarantee he would tell you that I don't think Oklahoma has had a top 25 top even 30 40 defense since Lincoln Riley's been around in all of college football so USC has a 30-point favorite against San Jose State scares the living shit out of me there's there's big pressure big pressure big bullseye on USC I wouldn't be surprised if USC wins by 50 but I wouldn't be surprised if they only win by 14 that 30-point spread scares the shit out of me and last the game of the week Navy at number 13th ranked Notre Dame this is in Dublin Ireland this come one comes on at 130 Central Standard Time on NBC of course the home of the Notre Dame fighting Irish Notre Dame is favored by 21 points scary scares me to death as well Notre Dame did not start fast last year I do believe they lost their first game of the season the first or second game of the season and if they don't come out fast and beat up on Navy Navy can do that it can be an upset this happens all the time some of these highly ranked teams play that first game they kind of overlook their non-conference opponent and they will win and don't be surprised if this happens to either USC or Notre Dame it could happen absolutely college football is the just synonymous for upsets so that being said now I'm going to bow out I gave you your matchups to look for tomorrow I will see you soon big shout outs to the boys at the football function Mr. Ritter Mr. Minifield Mr.
