Nothing to say, yet
The speaker discusses their interest in science fiction and a TV series involving time travel. They mention the existential questions raised about maintaining or changing the future. They also reflect on how people would act differently if they knew the future, using the example of COVID-19. The speaker concludes by stating that although we don't know what the future holds, God does, and he has our best interests in mind. Good morning and welcome to Coffee with Chris. You know, I like science fiction stories, TV shows, and movies. And recently I've been watching a science fiction TV series that involves time travel. And the characters, the bad guys, are trying to change the future for the worse. And the good guys are trying to maintain that future. And then there's been this question recently of, should they maintain the future? Is trying to maintain the future problematic? Is trying to change the future what creates the future in the first place? So it's all these sort of existential causality questions. But, you know, I think it also raises questions for ourself as well. About if we had that hindsight. If we could just see the future and know, just like these time traveling characters. They've seen the future, they know how their actions result. Or at least they think that they do. It makes us wonder if we had that kind of hindsight. If we could know the future, would we do things differently? I've seen people post about what they would have done had they known this current COVID situation was coming. They may have spent time in a restaurant. Sitting in. In their favorite restaurant a few more times. They may have visited their loved ones for a longer time. You know? We all wish we knew what was coming, don't we? We wish that we knew what was going to be coming tomorrow. And when this whole thing will end. But the thing is, while we don't know what's coming, we do know the one who does. God knows the end from the beginning. I believe it's Isaiah 46.10 that says that. And, you know, that he knows the end from the beginning. And he does what he wants. You know? And I'm not saying that all of this was his intention. But he works through it because he knows what is coming. And he has the best for us in mind. So I just want to encourage you today that while we don't know what's coming next, he does. And he cares for us. And he's got the best in mind for you. Anyways, God bless. I'm going to go time travel.
