This podcast discusses the benefits of participating in physical activity, particularly the sport of League Tag. It highlights how sports can improve fitness, mental health, and overall well-being. The speaker shares her personal experience, emphasizing the positive impact the sport has had on her mental health and the opportunities it has opened up. League Tag is not just a women's sport, but also a learning sport for children, helping them develop skills and confidence. The role of social media in promoting the sport is also mentioned, as well as the importance of collaboration and support within the game. The speaker concludes by encouraging children to participate in team sports for the physical and mental benefits, as well as the lasting friendships that can be formed. Hi, my name is Chloe English, and welcome to my podcast for assessment to digital literacy. I'd like to welcome fellow teachers and students on my podcast in regards to my hobby, League Tag. Physical activity can help people of all ages improve their fitness, control their weight, reduce mental health issues, and prevent developing poor health conditions. Enrolling yourself, children, and all families into sports is a great way to maintain a healthy level of physical activity, as in most cases it requires you to attend weekly training sessions as well as games. As for myself, I play League Tag. I have found this beneficial for myself as I have found not only a great passion for playing the sport, but the friends I have made within it has been great for my mental health. Whenever I am stressed and anxious for my personal life with university and work, engaging in sport and being around my friends refreshes my mind and allows me to regroup. While this has been a challenging hobby, it has also been very rewarding, opening other opportunities for myself, like playing Austag and Nines League Tag. For myself this season, we have been very successful in only losing one game, which resulted in us being crowned minor premierships, and we're set to play our grand final this weekend where we hope to be able to bring home the major premiers shield home as well. League Tag is more than just a women's sport, it has become a learning sport for children of young ages to grow confidence and develop skills for them to play competitive sport once they come of age. Studies have shown that 73% of children that have grown up playing League Tag slash Austag have now eventuated into playing Rugby League. With the support from social competitions of Austag, the NRL player development framework and social media platforms such as YouTube, this has become a popular sport. Social media is a big role in any type of hobby or sport. By using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and specific sport apps such as MyLeague, it is a great way for clubs to communicate and advocate for the sport and social competition. Coaches, players and families can use these to discuss everything in relation to the game such as training and any potential clinics their kids may be able to participate in for the growth of their skills and game. In order to succeed and gain confidence in this game, a great way to collaborate may be having clinics and help from experienced and professional players to teach participants developmental and mind skills to encourage them to believe in themselves. By learning to be a team player and show children the understanding of their friends that may be at a different ability to themselves, it encourages the players to be supportive and encourage their friends throughout the tough times. As a shy person myself, I have grown great confidence within this game from the help of experienced players at training. This has improved my game in the sport immensely and I look forward to playing my grand final as the experienced players get to watch me see the player that I have now become with the help of themselves. In conclusion to my speech, I argue that sport is a great way for children to develop their mental health skills and physical skills as well as becoming confident within themselves. Encourage all children to get out there and play a team sport because the most fun part of it all is that you get to do it with your friends and the friends that you do get to improve with, you have them now for a lifetime.
