The speaker reflects on the meaning of the word "friend" and how it is often used casually. The speaker intends to tell a story about their own friends and how they contribute to their life. It took me a while to figure out what the word friend truly means. We tend to throw the word friend around to just anyone, and sometimes it can get confusing when we're using it all the time. Growing up, I wanted to make everyone my friend. This person in class, that person on the street, this person at a cafe, or maybe someone from a library. And while I do think that we should treat everyone with kindness and with love, at the same time, figuring out what a friend is is important to find and to build a community. This is a story about my friends, the ones that make up my life.
