Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a rare psychiatric condition found in 1% of the general population. It is also seen in 12-14% of psychiatric patients. Despite its prevalence being similar to schizophrenia, there is limited research on DID. Prevalence Rates of DID Limited research indicates that dissociative disorders are observed in 12-14% of the psychiatric patient population. However, DID is found in 1% of the general population. DID has an estimated lifetime prevalence of around 1.5%. Despite prevalence rates being similar to those seen in schizophrenia, DID remains under-researched.
