They also discuss the importance of understanding and appreciating each other's love languages in relationships. The speaker shares personal anecdotes about their experiences with love languages and how they can sometimes cause misunderstandings. They emphasize the need for communication and understanding in relationships.
So, my grandpa, not gonna lie, he was kind of a turd, but that was his way of showing love, he was really hard on people, and I think that's because he had a really hard early life, so he wanted all the people around him to be really strong, and so he's like, if you can take this shit for me, then I know you'll be alright. And then one day he's like, I bet you don't even know the name of the flying horse.
And I was like, it's the Pegasus grandpa. And he said, well you know one thing, but you know nothing. I was like... Hi loves, welcome back to another episode of Branded and Tailored. This week we have Cecilia back again as our guest. We realized we talked a lot about love languages, so we decided it was probably a good idea to take the quiz and just generally talk about what the love languages are, and what ours are, and what each other got us surprising to us.
Yep, so let's go ahead and elaborate really quick. So, for those of you that are new to this space or don't know, love languages, what does that mean? So, basically everybody has dominant love languages where they receive love and they also project their love. So, in definition, the love languages refer to the ways that a person prefers to express their love to, so again, just basically what I said, and how they receive it from their partner.
So, the term refers to different methods, and there are five different love languages that, again, you can receive and express. So, one of them being acts of service. So, this is where a person performs actions to your partner to make them feel loved and appreciated. There's gifts, which giving gifts are thoughtful to your partner. Maybe it's something that you're out and about, and you thought of this person, and so you bought them a gift, and here you go.
Here's my appreciation and my representation to show my love for you. Quality time, so spending time with your partner and giving them undivided attention. Words of affirmation, giving your partner compliments and telling them how much you care about them. And the last one is physical touch. So, this involves kissing, hugging, holding hands with your partner, et cetera. So, we all took the love language quiz to figure out what out of these five are the most dominant that we share.
And, I mean, we have percentages for all five of them, but there's a clear runner winner for all of them. So, I guess, Cecilia, do you want to go ahead and tell us your results? Yeah, so my number one was quality time, followed by words of affirmation, physical touch, acts of service, and receiving gifts. I'm not surprised by that quality time at all. I constantly want to be around anyone I care about, so it was not a surprise.
Fair enough. But it is interesting how it's changed, though, because physical touch was definitely my number one a while ago, but now it is not. How long ago was it when you took it? In college. And that makes sense, because if you listen to last week's episode, in college I definitely thought that, you know, sex and, like, being physical with someone meant love, and that's obviously not what I believe now. So, makes sense. Can be true isn't necessarily true.
Yes, exactly. Taylor, what were yours? Because they were very similar. Identical. Quantically, yes. So, quality time, number one, words of affirmation, two, followed by physical touch, then, what was it, acts of service, and then the gift was dead last. Dead last. Not that I don't like gifts, but just not on the hierarchy of things. Not on the hierarchy of things that I need for love, which, yeah, I mean, I kind of said it for previous episodes, I didn't take a test like this to know for sure, but just knowing myself in general, like, no, I love quality time with people.
Absolutely. And I knew for myself physical touch was up there, but I was kind of surprised that physical touch wasn't at the very, very top end, it was right in the middle, behind words of affirmation. So, yeah, that was kind of surprising to me. Well, Brandy, why don't you go ahead and share yours? Mine are teensy different. Where they're not is acts of service and gifts are last. We're like, fuck them. We don't want the fucking gifts.
Don't buy me shit. What's your first one? Mine was physical touch, and it was pretty much actually tied with quality time, so it was 33 and 30%. That surprises me so much for some reason with you. It does? Yeah, the physical touch being first. And then third for me was words of affirmation. So, we all have the same top three. Yes, we do. Why is it surprising for you that physical touch is my... I don't know, I just don't feel like...
I mean, I guess as a friend, that's how I'm perceiving it, not as your lover, because I'm not a lover, so... Damn it. I don't know. I just don't see you as that being the way you would receive love. I definitely think quality time for sure, but physical touch was not... You're not handsy with me, Brandy. Does that mean you don't love me? I really want to touch you. I really do. You do voice that quite a bit.
It does make sense. She's been giving you hints. Really? Really? Okay, never mind. Take it all back. Every time I'm like, this is... I'm like, you'll turn around and walk away, and I'm like, look at Taylor's butt. Literally. Oh my god. Wait, never mind. It makes so much sense. My butt is so hot. No, I think for me, I have some issues, which maybe we'll get into at some point, but with people touching me, and there's a good reason for that, so I think for me, being comfortable with letting someone touch me is really special.
Okay. And so it's just like a thing that I like it with you. Important. You're not sharing that with everyone. Yeah, no, definitely not. Like I said before, I am a hugger, I'm Greek, all of that, but I'm just not that way with everybody. It's just for special people. And it can be friends too, but definitely with whoever I'm dating. And it doesn't mean I need to be sitting on your lap cuddling with you 24-7, but it's like, my leg will be touching yours, or hold my finger, or...
Hold my finger! Hold my finger's nice, because then your hands don't get so sweaty. Yeah. That's one of my weird things that I do. Yeah, just reach out and touch you. My quality time is basically right there. Statistically, they would not be different. But those are my top two. So just spend time with me, and do cute shit, and hold my hand. I love it. Yeah, and I don't want to touch your boobs. One day, one day.
You'll hear it here first, if it ever happens again. I believe. Do you have great boobs? So much. My confidence just went up. Women need to talk about complimenting each other, and like, every time you have some cleavage on, I'm just like... Appreciate the compliment. Those are some titties. Like, I should... I don't know if this episode is just titties. What is your primary love language? Touching titties. Titties. Yep. I am not surprised that quality time is first for either one of y'all.
Yeah. And I think maybe, like, if we look back at some of our other episodes, it'll make sense why Taylor and I are like, let's just hang out. Like, do something. It doesn't really matter what we do, but like, something. We can have fun having dates at the house, but it's just like, it's about spending time with somebody. It doesn't really matter what you're doing. It's just, we're doing something together. And something could be literally, we're sitting on the couch watching TV.
And that's great. Yeah, it says on here, like, distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to listen can be especially hurtful for someone whose love language is quality time. And that, like, rings true for me. Especially. Like, when, like, being canceled. Mm-hmm. No, I'm not, like, one to do that. Like, if I say I'm gonna go somewhere and, like, do something with you, I'm gonna do it. Yeah. Unless, like, I got my leg cut off or something.
None of us are free. No, like, we're also very good at saying, like, if we can't do it, because that is important to us. Mm-hmm. Like, fulfilling. Yeah. Dates and stuff like that. Yeah. I feel like, for me, with quality time, it doesn't matter if it's with my family or with my friends that I've been friends with forever, or, like, you guys. Mm-hmm. Like, I don't know. Like, to me, when I was initially thinking this, like, quality time, like, well, yeah, it would make sense for, like, I, you know, met you guys within last year.
So, yeah, I wanna spend quality time with you guys. Yeah. To get to know you. Mm-hmm. So, can be good friends. But I also appreciate the quality time that I have, like, whenever my dad comes down to visit me. Oh, yeah. Because it's just this special. So, kind of all over the spectrum. Yeah. My family's great. Like, we're Slovaks. So, if you don't spend, if a visit's not eight hours, it's not considered enough. You have to be there the whole day.
Yeah. Eating out with them. So. Do y'all do that thing, too, where if you have a cooking day or, like, cooking event, it has to be all day long? Yeah. Yeah. Greeks are very much like that. All day. Like, dinner is, like, four hours. We're always eating. Constantly eating. Mm-hmm. My grandma's like, if you're not eating, something's wrong with you. So. So. You know, like, my. Like, not. Why you no eat? You too skinny. We've been eating for the past eight hours.
Ella, Brandy, eat. I'm doing hand motions. I was teaching Taylor backwards in Greek the other day. That's how we were spending our quality time. Oh, then we called your mom. Then we called my mom. Yeah. To get clarification on what your grandfather said. He would share that story. That was really funny. Oh, which one? The flying horse? Yes. The flying horse. The flying horse. You know nothing. So, my grandpa, like, not gonna lie, he was, like, kind of a turd.
But, like, that was his way of showing off, was he was really hard on people. And I think that's because he had a really hard early life. So, he wanted all the people around him to be really strong. And so, he's like, if you can take this shit from me, then, like, I know you'll be all right. Not super healthy. But, like, looking back, I think that's what he was doing. Yeah. So, you know, his way of trying to hype me up would be, like, you're Greek, but you don't speak Greek.
And you're a woman. So, you're stupid. And you don't even know Greek mythology. And he would say this shit all the time. And then one day he's like, it's that you don't even know the name of the flying horse. And I was like, it's Pegasus' grandpa. And he just looked at me and said, well, you know one thing, but you know nothing. I was like, all right. Whoa. All right. But I do know the name of the flying horse.
The flying horse. Oh, my God. And then he got me this, like, really fancy, nice, like, Greek mythology book for my birthday or whatever it was that year. And gave it to me. And I was like, mm-hmm. I see what you did there. Yeah. And then Taylor really likes the way that he, he would say son of a bitch a lot when he'd get mad. And Taylor really likes the way that he would say it. So, we'd be fishing or something.
And he'd be all pissed because he couldn't catch anything. And then I'd be trying to tell him how to do it. Because it was a pond in our house. So, I was like, these are my fish. I know how to catch them. Like, just listen to me. These are my fish. Yeah. This is my territory. This is my pond. You know nothing. You know nothing. Women don't know how to fish. Grandpa, you got to set the hook.
I know what to do. So, yeah. There's so many times I remember just sitting down there fishing with him. And he'd be like, son of a bitch. He's biting my bait and that's getting caught. Son of a bitch. Beach. Salama. That was son of a bitch. I had to go to the house. I was like, mom, what's a salama beach? She's like, son of a bitch. Oh. I was like, is that a Greek? Like, it doesn't sound Greek.
I don't know what he's saying. Yeah. Good times. But, yeah. That was my grandpa. Love languages. Being mean. That was a favorite because I would do it back. There you go. Got a dish out. Always fun learning like your own love languages. But then it's also, I mean, it's essential. It's beneficial to know other people's love languages. You know, you don't have to throw a quiz at them and say, hey, take this really quick for five minutes because I want to get to know you.
I mean, you certainly can and open a conversation, but just maybe an observation and kind of note and whatever. Whatever they ask you to do or what your conversations lead. Like, okay, this person likes when I hype them up. Maybe words of affirmation are their top for love languages. I'm going to make sure whenever I see this person, I really highlight what I appreciate about them, what I'm proud about them. Something that they've done this week and I want to hype them up about.
I think it's definitely important to understand how people show love because it can be different from how you receive it. And you have to understand, especially within a relationship with a partner, it's like, oh, they're actively showing me love in their way. It's just not how I receive it. So that could become really difficult when it's like, you're not loving me. Yes, I am. I'm loving you. It's just not how you receive it. You're not loving me the way that I want to be loved.
Yes. Do either one of you have a good example for that? I do. Okay, please share. Yeah, so my receiving gifts was 3%. So I'm clearly very into that. And my ex really liked gift giving and it would make him so happy because he'd come home with something dumb. But he liked it and he thought it was cool. And so he thought it was really sweet. I'm just like, oh man, you know, you gotta quit doing this.
But this is one of my favorite stories to tell. Like, woke up one morning, it's Easter. Who really celebrates Easter unless they like eat with their family? Yes, you eat, that's celebrating. You know? But he's like, stay in the bed, stay in the bed, don't get up. Okay. He brings this like heart-shaped omelet, which I was like, this is cute. I like that. This is breakfast in bed. Like, that's adorable. Thank you. I like that. And he's like, okay, now you can come downstairs.
Oh my god. And I walk out of the room and I start walking down the stairs and I notice that there are little Easter eggs on the stairs. And I'm like, oh god. Like, what did you do? And so I'm picking up Easter eggs, walking down the stairs, get down the stairs, and there's Easter balloons. And I'm just like, what the fuck? You make me clean a house as a gift? And so it's like, that would be really cute for somebody else.
It's a sweet idea, but it's just not the way that I receive love. Or he'll be like getting flowers all the time. I'm like, they're gonna die. I'm gonna have to throw them out. So, you know, like, to me, like, getting gifts is more meaningful when it's something that doesn't happen often. I like giving gifts. Like, I'm obsessed with giving gifts. I like giving gifts more than I like receiving them. I like doing acts of service for people more than I like people doing acts of service for me.
So I think, yeah, my receiving languages are different than my giving. That was one of my favorite stories. Because I just tell people sometimes, like, oh my god, it's so adorable. And I'm like, I hated it. I hated it. That was the worst thing ever. Can you believe you laid Easter eggs all over the house? You put candy in them, too. I was like, you put in a lot of effort. And it's just like, you don't listen to me.
Like, not buying things. Yeah, I think that was part of it. And then it's like the quality time, right? Like, part of that is talking to somebody. Like, you don't listen when I talk to you. That's huge. I'm asking you to stop doing this stuff. So I do think there's, like, definitely importance in knowing what people's love languages are. Because, right, you know, like, okay, this is something that matters to you. This is how you show love.
I need to appreciate that. I need to acknowledge that. But I think there is a level of, like, listening to your partner. They're like, hey, you know, I really need words of affirmation. And you're not somebody that really gives them. Like, you can make an effort to do that. And I've had to have two friends. They're married. Their love languages are completely different. Like, she's very words of affirmation. He's very acts of service. So he's doing all of these things all the time to show her that he loves her.
And she's just like, he doesn't even tell me I'm pretty. And I'm like, bitch! He's trying so hard. Like, you'll need to listen to each other. Like, you stay home so you can take care of the kids. And he, like, he does so much for you. And I get it. He's just not saying the things you want him to say. But that doesn't mean that he doesn't love you. Like, look around. Yes. So I get very frustrated with those two.
And I've had, like, marriage mediation sessions with them. And I'm like, I'm not married. I've never been married. But, like, I see what the problem is here. Like, she wants you to tell her she's pretty and, like, all of these things. And you're over here, like, outside doing stuff for the house. And she's just like, you don't want to spend time with me. You don't tell me I'm pretty. I'm like, but you're providing a home. And, like, doing that and having that look nice is important to him.
And it's how he's showing her he loves her. So it's just like, those two are such a good example of, like, pay attention to your partner's love language. Because, like, you can be feeling like you're putting in so much effort and, like, exhausting all the effort. Just have to pivot. Yeah. Right. It's not how they're receiving it. Yeah. Yeah. That's why, like, communication is so important. Yeah. Can you elaborate on maybe what you told us about your partner and their love language and it doesn't align with yours? No.
At all. So mine's quality time. And I think his also maybe that too. But he is such a provider and, like, making sure I'm okay. And, like, for my birthday, I think it was last year, he got my, like, car infected. Like, acts of service. Like, doing things for me and, like, all of it. And I'm like, I love that. And, like, I love feeling taken care of. But, like, again, I just want to, like, sit.
And I want you to tell me that I'm pretty. And watch a movie. Maybe touch my butt while you do it. Amen. But it's, like, definitely a mature thing. Because, like, I think back to my, like, college relationship. And there was, like, no way that I would have been able to see that, like, he was trying. Or my ex. They were trying. But it's definitely something that I have to actively work on within myself. Is to, like, recognize that and, like, affirm him.
I see that you're doing things that are showing me that you, like, actively love me. Again, that's not how I receive it. So, yeah, he'll be like, oh, I want to wash your dishes. And I'm like, but I just want to, like, sit on the couch and, like, talk. Like, we can do dishes later. And he's like, but no, that's how he's showing me he's loving me. So, yeah, we don't have to do the dishes right now.
Not how I need love. And that's not how I want to be loved right now. I mean, these love languages, they differ between life stages, between how serious your relationships get. I think back to when I moved in with my ex, I mean, years and years ago. But I kind of, I wish I would have taken a quiz like this then to see how that all changed. Because acts of service then, I used to get on him all the time, like, hey, like, you know, I'm making dinner for us.
Like, can we compromise? And can you do the dishes while I walk the dog? Like, I think that's, I mean, I'm spending all this amount of time and energy to make a meal for us each night. Like, that's the least you can do. And I would get so mad at him because he would just neglect the dishes all the time. He's like, yeah, yeah, I got it. It's fine. And then leave the dishes in the sink.
And then I come home and they're still in the sink. I'm like, all right, cool. So, now I have to do the dishes because I need those dishes in order to make the meal for the next night. So, yeah, that would have been a hard one for me. But now I'm like, I don't live with anybody. So, I don't know. Maybe it will change. We'll see. I think part of it, too, is like some of these do kind of overlap at times.
So, that's a situation where it's annoying when you don't do the dishes because then that means there's less time that we get to spend together. To do the quality time and talk and just. There's not time that we can just sit and be together before bed. Yes. Because I am working a full-time job and doing everything at the house. Like, help out. Yeah. Help out so that we can have time to spend together. Yeah. So, we can give love in the way that we have time to show each other in the way that we're both receiving and giving it out.
Yeah. Exactly. Especially if it's somebody who, like, you don't cook dinner with. Like, if you cook dinner together, then maybe it's not as big of a deal. Yeah. Because you're spending time together. You're doing something. Hey, can you pass that? Like, what do you want to do? Like, what are we eating? You're doing it together. But if they don't do that, and then you're cooking, and then you have to walk the dog, and then you have to come home.
Like, you're, like, so tired. Yeah. At the end of it, it's just like, you don't appreciate me enough to do the dishes so that we can sit together for another 15 minutes. Right. That's what it starts to feel like. Yeah. And one of the things when we first moved in together is, like, I did this whenever I would go over to a friend's house and we'd have dinner. Like, my parents were very lax. Like, dinner time wasn't a time where we all sit at a table and talk.
Like, it was very, like, hey, here's pizza. Grab pizza and then watch TV. Like, it wasn't a, you know, an occasion. Yeah. We just kind of, like, talk in passing and move on our merry way. Because, I mean, like, I mean, I was always training, and, like, I would eat really fast and go pitch. Or, you know, we were always constantly on the move. So, it wasn't anything special. But, to me, like, I wanted that moment for us to debrief as a couple and say, hey, like, I've had a day.
You've had a day at work. Like, let's share a meal and, like, talk about ourselves. Let's communicate on, I mean, we can talk about work if we want to. Or we can talk about, well, like, our upcoming trips or whatever. But, to me, like, I wanted to build that quality time each day because that was important. Yeah. I think it can get, like, dangerously in the territory of, like, you're supposed to do that. Like, we talked about last time.
Like, this is the bare minimum. Like, you doing the dishes is, like, okay. But, like, that's what has to be done to, like, run a household. So, like, you have to, like, take the extra steps in doing other things that are not, you know, just, like, the daily things that have to be done in the household. Mm-hmm. I agree. And that's why I think we're all very much in the area of we want partners. Yeah. This is our home.
It's not my home. Yes. This is our home. So, we're going to do this together. Exactly. If we are going to be together, we do things together. Right. My mom don't want to be a mom. That would be weird. Right? Yes. I want a partner to do things with and to build a life with. Mm-hmm. It's going to be work. So, you know, get in or get out. But it is interesting, though. There are some guys that actually do want women that are going to act like their mom.
Yeah, because, like, I think that goes into, like, childhood trauma. If you have, like, an overbearing mother or, like, a controlling mother, then they don't know how to function by themselves. So, like, they need a woman who's going to, like, micromanage them and do all the things for them like their mom did. Like, I know some guys who literally went to college and did not know how to use a washing machine. Oh, yes. It's like, what the fuck is going on in here? Mm-hmm.
It's failed parenting. Like, you're literally supposed to get them ready for life. Do y'all want me to tell you a bad story about a washing machine? I had such a turd. My mom wanted me to start washing my clothes. And so I was like, okay, I'll do that. I knew how. I just didn't want to do it. So I washed a pair of socks. Just socks. A whole load of socks. And my mom was like, Brandy, you're not doing laundry anymore.
And I was like, okay, cool. Got it. I did that on purpose. It worked. Now I think about it, I'm like, oh, yeah. That's bad. It's real bad. But I was like, I am so clever. You know, in college, as an athlete, you can sort of get by without doing laundry because they have laundry loops. So they have a big loop. You just put your clothes on the loop, you close it, and then you put it in the laundry basket, and they do the laundry for you.
And then when your laundry's done, you just grab the loop. And then you're good. So, I mean, I knew how to do laundry because I wanted to wash my nice clothes whenever I went out and about. But as far as, like, athletic gear, I never had to wash. It was great. And then you're out in the real world, like, oh, crap. No more laundry loops. But whenever I do become a mom, I'm bringing that loop into our household.
Because there are times, like, my sister and my mom would steal my clothes. That's so annoying. Like, no, my shirts are on my loop. My shirts are on my loop. They're my loop. You can't take them. This is Tay's loop. I mean, actually, that is, like, not even a bad idea if you have multiple people that you're washing for. Because then stuff's already sorted. We had laundry loops in high school that we would, like, put our uniforms on or our workout clothes.
That's so weird. I've never heard of that. Yeah. That way they didn't have to, like, go through who's shorts or who's shorts. All of your stuff's just on your loop and hang that on your locker. Like, the fact that we don't have this as a normal practice is crazy to me. Like, especially those families that have eight kids. Yeah. How are you getting by with just throwing everything in the laundry unit and then just hope that there's no fights? Like, he didn't wear my shirt.
I mean, I got in fights with my sister. Yeah. Like, one sibling, let alone multiple siblings. Derek wasn't stealing your clothes. He was not stealing my clothes. I would steal his clothes. Fair. So he'd be getting mad at me. Hey, bro. Nice hoodie. Speaking of hoodies, the guys, maybe this is going back to trauma of all the hoodies stealing. But there's guys even now that, like, I see in their profiles, like, hit me up if you want a nice hoodie.
Like, bro, I don't want your hoodie. Because I don't want your high school hoodie. I don't want a hoodie that has your, like, mouth name on it. That's high school stuff. Like, if I want a hoodie, I can get my own. And plus, I want it matching with all my other outfits. And I want it nice. Yeah. But also, it's just like, I don't want some random guy's hoodie. Like, if you were my boyfriend, it would be different.
Right. But not in my Tinder bio. Right. Yeah. I want your hoodie. Yeah. Don't you love the pick up lines? Like, you'd look great in my hoodie. Love that. You would look great in some handcuffs with the hoodie colors on. Swipe left. Give that. Just kidding. Just kidding. No, thank you. Yeah, there was, this was a long, long time ago, I remember there was one that was like, swipe left if you're a bitch. I was like, I'm sure this is going to work out for you.
Oh my gosh. Yeah. You really showed them. You really showed them. My sister uses this with her kids, the five love languages, because she was like, they all receive love differently from like, a parent as well. So she was like, I have to have, I'm like, very conscious of how, when I'm spending alone one-on-one time with the kids, of like, doing things specifically to how they receive love. I was like, wow, that's like really, I never thought of it like that.
Like your kids are going to have different love languages, that you're going to have to approach them in different ways. That's great parenting. I know, I was like, you go first. Yeah. Is there one kid that like, I can just see the kid like, yeah, I want gifts. Every time I go to the store, I just want my mom or dad to buy all the gifts for me. Oh, probably, yeah. Anne always wants something. She's always like, so excited when like, you buy her something, but it's really interesting because Henry, he's 11.
He just wants to spend time. So like, he'll be actively doing something, like we'll be playing board games, he'll be like, what are we going to do next? Because like, he just wants to keep spending time with people and like, doing things, I think it's like, really cool. But it's like crazy that, you know, even at that young age, you develop a way of receiving love. And even if it's different, like, he's so young. Yeah. They have a way.
Right. Well, how about the kids where maybe their top way they receive love is physical touch, and they never receive that from their parents. Now that's a trauma. Yeah. Now as they're adults, they're seeking that physical touch and like, the wrong faces. Yeah, well, that's interesting, because my second one is words of affirmation. And I kind of make sense, because like, we were not a family of like, talking about your feelings, or like, crying, like you went in your room, and you did that alone.
Like, there was no time for that. So it makes sense as to why it's second, because like, I was lacking that within my childhood of not having my parents, you know, listen to me when I was a fat, or like, there was just no like, talking about your feelings. So now as an adult, I like, need it. Like, to like, talk about that with people, or my partner, or whatever. It's crazy. Childhood trauma. But yeah, my family is very similar in that aspect, too, just didn't talk about feelings or whatever.
So now, as an adult, and reflecting on all those experiences, now, whenever I see my mom get upset about something, like, I really take my time and like, well, Mom, like, instead of just blurting out and just screaming, like, tell me why you're upset. Or like, I'll try to be like, so patient, so calm. You know, I want to, you know, do it right back, because that's the natural reaction, right? You know, sometimes teaching your parents, too, of like, hey, like, I can tell you're frustrated.
It's okay. Like, oh, God, especially with technology. Taylor, this virus keeps popping up. Like, Mom, the little red X on the left-hand corner, click it, and it goes away. Well, how do you do that? I'm like, God, you know, it's funny. My grandma first got her iPhone. She couldn't figure out how to work it. So she called my dad, like, come get this shittin' thing before I throw it in the yard. And she figured out how to use it.
She loved it. But she was real mad about it for a while. Technology with, like, parents and grandparents. Another thing. So, like, none of us have words of affirmation as our primary, but it is up there. Yes. And so I wonder how much of this goes back to us, like, Taylor and I saying, like, don't just compliment me. If you're going to compliment me, give me real compliments. Yeah. So I wonder how much of that is just, like, we don't need it all the time.
But, like, I need, to me, I need to know that it's because you're paying attention and you're acknowledging the things that I'm doing and you're paying enough attention that you can give me a real compliment once you figure out that you're spending quality time with somebody. But, you know. Right. So that's just, like, don't be as compliment me. Yeah. Because some people just like to be as compliments. I haven't thought about that. Yeah, I think words of affirmation and quality time are very closely related.
Because you can't give those compliments if you don't, like you said, if you don't spend quality time. And then those, they don't mean anything because in quality time you're talking most of the time. So if you're able to listen and then come back at a later time and be like, hey, I'm affirming what we talked about and, like, showing you love through this way. It's very intentional. Words of affirmation is very intentional. Absolutely. Not just the physical.
You're so beautiful. I know. I know. I know. I know. Thanks. Yeah, that would not go well with, like, any of us if you only just told us how pretty you are. We'd be like, I concede myself. I tell myself everybody in the mirror is cute. Yeah. Like, there's definitely a day, like, I know all of us, like, we have to look in the mirror and be like, I'm, like, fucking cute today. That's nice, you know.
Salé. Right. But if that's the only thing somebody tells you, it's just like, wow, like, is it the only thing that you notice about me? Do you think that, like, you have similar love languages to your friends? Huh. Do you think, like, friends hang out with similar people who have, like, similar love languages to them? I think so. I think so, because I feel like most of my friends that I'm close with, quality time would be definitely up there.
Yeah. I think that's something that we all share. It's like, it doesn't really matter what we do. Just want to spend some time with you. If there's something that you want to do that you enjoy, I'll do that with you, because I want to see why you like it. Yeah, yeah. Like, I went golfing with my friend and her boyfriend. Like, I'm not a golfer. I did not enjoy golfing with my ex, because she was really good at it, and I was not, and so it gets mad, but.
I think it was fun going with them. Because it was just like, we're doing something together. We're outside. We're like, we're playing. And she posted a picture of me jumping the ball into the water on Instagram. And she said, this definitely didn't go in the water. You can see the ball heading straight towards the water. I'm like, you bitch. At the very, the opposite spectrum for all of us, gift giving, or not gift giving, but receiving gifts.
Like, I can't imagine us hanging out with anybody that just wanted gifts. Yeah. You know? I can't believe we hung out and they didn't give me this. Or they didn't buy me something. Right. Yeah, it would be very difficult. It's just a different mindset, just like a different personality trait that either one of us show with. Yeah, we'd be like, okay. But then it's interesting, because I'm with somebody whose love languages are different. But you're able to work through it.
I guess you have more patience if you're like, this is your partner, besides just a friend you hang out with. I think that's really funny, because we've all been friends long enough now that we've had birthdays. And every single time it's been like, hey, what do you want for your birthday? And it's always like, I just want us to spend the day together. Yeah, or I don't even think we say that. It's like, what do you want to do? Yeah.
I've never said to either of you, what do you want for your birthday? I'm like, what do you want to do? Because we all just want to hang out. We all just want to hang out. Yeah. Yeah, we just want to do cute shit with my friends. Yeah, like eat food and hang out. And hang out. We have this thing where we color coordinate for birthdays. It's a must. It's a must now. It's so underrated. It's so underrated.
And if you go somewhere and color coordinate for the group, you will be the coolest people there. We love good themes. And color is a great theme. Color is so good. Taylor did blue. Did you do green? Green. You did red for me yesterday. So Taylor, you're up next again. You're going to have to pick a new color, or do we keep going with the blue? It's your day. Yeah, don't you? Oh, gosh. Day two. Day two.
Maybe I'll put a poll out there. Like, all right, so here are the remaining colors of the rainbow. What do we pick? I don't know if I'm... I could pull off a yellow, but yellow wear is hard. I was kind of saying you look really good in yellow. I mean, yeah, I do. You look really good in orange. Orange is good, too. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. We'll see. Purple's going to be pretty. We'll see.
We'll see. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
