In this episode of "Faith Alive in 5," Dr. Faye discusses the importance of surrendering control to God and allowing Him to lead. She emphasizes the need to let go of fears and insecurities that hinder surrender. Practical tips for surrendering include prayer, embracing uncertainty, seeking guidance from scripture and the Holy Spirit, and surrounding oneself with a supportive community. Dr. Faye encourages listeners to share their experiences and reminds them that the choice to surrender is theirs. Welcome to Faith Alive in 5, the 5-minute gospel. Now here's your host, Dr. Faye. Welcome back to Faith Alive in 5, the 5-minute gospel. This week we're wrapping up our theme of surrendering control with God with today's focus on letting go and letting God lead. It is a profound act of our faith to release our grip on control and allow God to guide us on the path he has planned. Why not? He's the creator, right? He's the potter and we're the clay. We look to him to lead God and direct our steps. Psalms 37 and 5 says, commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will do it. God will do what we trust him to do. The concept of letting go of control and allowing God to lead us is kind of foreign to a lot of people. It's often easier said than done, isn't it? That we can say, let go, let God, let, you know, pray that God will bless me. I mean, we likely say, we say a lot of things just in passing and none of you realize that we should focus in on those things, to really let go and let God, because surrendering our plans and desires to God, he can work wonders in our lives when we just decide to give it up, when we just decide to quit struggling with it, quit fighting over it, quit trying to measure up to someone else's expectation of who we are or who we should be and start following the leadership of the Holy Spirit, the resident one who is inside of us. Understanding the need to let go is extremely important. There is a need for us to let go of control and allow God to lead us. So as long as we're holding on to control, we're holding on to the stress, we're holding on to the anxiety, we're holding on to the frustration, we're holding on to the things that we need to let go of and they're standing in the way of our God flow, of the plans that God has for our lives. Letting go allows us to experience a level of freedom that we've never experienced before, a level of peace that we've never experienced before, and the abundant life that Jesus talked about in St. John 10. As you pause for a moment and reflect on the areas of your life where you struggle to let go of control, what fears or insecurities may be holding you back from fully surrendering to God's leading? What is housed there that is blocking you? Are you still blaming your parents and now you're 50 and you're still blaming your parents? Come on, honey. It's time to let them go. You're still blaming your ex and he's already remarried with five other kids. You're still blaming someone from your past about your present moment when it's you, it's you, it's you, oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer, right? Here's some practical tips that I want to leave you with today to help you to let it go, honey, let it go. Practice surrendering through prayer, releasing your worries and desires to God. Just do what Jesus talked about in Matthew 6, to take no thought for your life. What are you meditating on that for? Meditate upon the kingdom of God. Go within the house, find the coin that was lost, be the merchant, sell everything for the pearl of great price. Go on this journey of self-discovery by practicing surrender through prayer. Surrender. Ask God to help you, by the way, hello, to help you surrender. I promise you, he will. Some of you are afraid to ask him because you don't really want to let go, you're afraid to ask God. Ask him, ask him, and he will help you to do whatever it is you're asking him to help you to do. Embrace uncertainty with faith. Just say, God, I don't know. It's okay to say, I don't know, knowing that God's plans are always for our good. Just say, God, I don't know what you want me to do, I don't know who you want me to marry, I don't know where you want me to go, or where you want me to live, I don't know how to fix this mess I've made in my life. Here it is. Will you please, sir, I know you can't, but will you please just take this and do whatever you want to do with it. Here's my life as a living sacrifice. Seek the wisdom and guidance from scripture and from the Holy Spirit. Crack the book, you'll crack the code, folks, I promise you. Read it aloud and it'll read you. Surround yourself with supportive community, whether it's your local fellowship in church with people that you can communicate with. Maybe it's just a support group, I don't know, maybe it's just your circle, your book club, your friends, your whomever. Get around people that can hold you accountable, that will look at you and say, girl, you know that's not right. Guy, you know you need to straighten up and fly right. Go home to your wife and kids and get out of the streets, dude. You know, surround yourself with people that will hold you accountable. Yeah. And I want to hear from you guys. Share your experiences with me. Share your conversations with me. I want to hear from y'all. You can text me, you can email me and be in touch and so help me to help you even more.
