Inspired by the American avant-garde “Hard Bop” school and composed on a three-beat rhythm, this composition features a two-tone harmony upon which two contrasting melodies converse, serving also as links between free improvisations. An sudden bass motif occasionally intervenes to break the linearity of the structure. Like the entire “Exhibition” album of which it is the flagship piece, Exhibit offers several colorful modulating climates linked specifically to each of the improvisations.
