If we focus on progress instead of pass or fail, it would benefit both students and teachers. The goal should be to create students who are literate, numerate, and have critical thinking skills for success outside of school. The current curriculum is overwhelming and causing teachers to leave the profession. I think that if we're looking at achievement, not at pass and fail, but at actual progress, it's better for our individual students and for our teachers. I think our goal should be to create literate and numerate students who can think creatively and critically about the world around them, focusing on their life skills to succeed outside of the schooling system rather than this cluttered curriculum where the divide is becoming lighter and it's becoming harder and harder to keep teachers in the profession because of this.
