In this case, good thing, headline from Petapixel, this photography drone info website, AI drones will detect sharks and alert California beach goers. Yeah, okay, so they're trying this out. University of California Santa Barbara Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory is launching an initiative they're calling this Shark Eye, which will deploy AI-backed drones to detect shark activity and keep swimmers safe in Cattaro Beach in California. They say this is a popular place for surf camps, it also happens to be a nursery for young great white sharks, oh gee whiz. Now, haven't they done this before? Haven't they had drones flying over looking for sharks yet? But it's kind of hard to detect with the glare of the sun and sharks and swimming in the water and all that stuff, so they haven't had like a big success rate to do this. But now, they've got AI technology, which is going to make sure that the thing swimming, that's a shadow, that it looks like a shark, maybe, probably, sort of, kind of is a shark. Then what happens? Well, Shark Eye's AI-enabled drones monitor all this stuff, and if it's spotted, it sends a text to 80 people who have signed up for alerts, including local lifeguards, the surf shop owners, and the parents of children who take these lessons, wow. It's about 60% accuracy without this AI, and so they're hoping to build upon that as well. Of course, somebody has to monitor the video feed and all that and make this happen, but I think this is a good thing. I'm approving this. I'm Big Rick Stewart. I'm not going to go take surf lessons at Padaro Beach, but, you know, you make the call. Maybe not lessons anywhere else. It's the Line Country Saturday soundtrack at 99.3 The Vine. I read this over at Mashable, Apple at the Worldwide Developer Conference for all the people that make all the cool stuff for us. That happened in June. They announced this new thing called Apple Intelligence. Okay, kind of like AI, but Apple Intelligence, they call it. This is a headline. I tested Apple Intelligence on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and here are the ways that it spoiled me rotten. It sounds really cool. How about this? In the Safari browser on your iPhone, you can tap a button. It will basically give you a summation of whatever the article is that you're about to read. You know, it goes on and on and on. You're like, okay, just give me the highlights. Give me the, like you would say, the cliff notes of this, and you tap a button, and then Safari, the Apple browser on your phone, will say, oh, all right, here's what you really need to know. That's pretty good, right? How about if you're going to write somebody an email, and maybe writing something in an informal way, that's not really, you're not the best at that, or maybe making it kind of funny. Your email's come off as too serious. You can highlight the words writing tools, and then you can pick your desired tone, and it will change your email around, and the wording, and more, to make it a little more friendly, or a little more business-like, or whatever. That's really cool. Also, how about all those photos you have, say, photos of your dog, or whatever. They're all scattered around your phone, right? You can go to your Photos app on your iPhone, coming up with this Apple Intelligence, type in photos of black dog, and it will group them together for you, so you can have a look. It's all very smart and very intelligent. And if you're looking at a really cool article, like maybe this one, you can also say, hey Siri, send this article to Bob St. Laurent. Come on, how cool is that? Looking forward to trying it out. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 99.3 the Vine. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. I'm Big Rick Stewart. Coca-Cola have released a new flavor, and I don't know about that. Sometimes I think they just release weird flavors to get noticed by people. Like this guy, and then I talk about it. It gives them free press. They aren't really thinking this is going to take over the world. What do you think? Coca-Cola popcorn flavor. I saw this in a website I've never seen before, but I think it's true. Dexerto. Dexerto. D-E-X-E-R-T-O. Coca-Cola have released a new flavor, and despite its popularity among some customers, they say some aren't so sure about it. You probably haven't seen this. I'm going to tell you why. The new flavor is called popcorn. It is a super buttery flavor, reminiscent of everyone's favorite movie snack, of course. The news is shared by popular food blogger Snackalator, who said, I love drinking some Coca-Cola with popcorn, so it makes sense. But then it also doesn't make sense because it's in the Coca-Cola itself. So he asked his audience what they thought about this. One Instagram user had a suggestion for trying the new drink, saying, it's kind of weird. Maybe you could just try soaking popcorn in cola and then drink it. All right. One said, as much as I'd want most of these new things in America, I'm thankful we don't have this one, one proclaimed. What's that all about? Well, this new flavor evidently is only available in Germany. You know where it might be? It might be in Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, right on the strip, there's this Coca-Cola shop, and you can do flights of Coca-Cola, like just how you do flights of, you know, beers and whiskeys and wine and stuff. You can do flights of Coca-Cola. You see families and kids in there all the time, and they have all these weird flavors. Maybe they have popcorn. Maybe they don't. I'll keep them separate, thank you very much. And make mine a diet. I'm Big Rick Stewart. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack at 99.3 Divine. It's the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack. Prince Documentary is dead in the water. Prince is a new musician. After four years of production due to, what they say, dramatic factual inaccuracies. And this story is from Variety. A six-part Prince documentary for Netflix was in the works, and they've been working on it for quite a while. Now they say dead in the water. After representatives for the late artist's estate claimed a first cut of the film was filled with what they called dramatic factual inaccuracies and sensationalized renderings of certain events from his life. Oh, gee. Hollywood does that? Oh, my God. Shocking, right? That's really unfortunate, though. The deal for the documentary called for a six-hour series. The people that were behind this actually made nine hours, so they see that was a violation of the agreement. Netflix is trying to work all this stuff out, but it's not easy. And they could release this, evidently, without the music of Prince, but who would want to see that? Without the music of Prince, the Prince estate has to kind of be on board. To make things even more complicated, Prince died without a will. His estate is kind of split into two different parties handling two different things. But everybody says that the whole thing is just not good, and so they all nixed it. They maybe wanted more control, and the estate felt the documentary was not sufficiently positive. I could see that. Prince, while he was alive, and now the Prince estate, both have been very tight about controlling rights to his music and taking down YouTube videos and more. So they have gotten together and released some things that you can check out as a Prince fan, but I was looking forward to this. But right now, not going to happen. All right. I'm Big Rick Stewart. The music lives, though. It's the Flying Country Saturday soundtrack at 99.3 Divine. It's the Flying Country Saturday soundtrack. I'm Big Rick Stewart. I like to follow the news from Lake Tahoe, because I kind of like Lake Tahoe, right? You as well? Everybody likes it out there. Yeah, I know, not so much the traffic jams and, you know, putting on chains and stuff like that. But you know what? It's a great time to go to Tahoe. Kind of like right now. I just want to go skiing, of course. Tahoe Daily Tribune says, the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery Complex, don't worry. No more than that. Released a bunch of fish recently, these are trout, at Meeks Bay Lake Forest Boat Ramp in Sand Harbor State Park. This is just the start of a summer-long stocking plan from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Stocking will continue throughout this summer, releasing around 100,000 at various publicly accessible Tahoe locations in California and Nevada. Now, this is a really interesting story. It's got a lot of history to it. Having brown trout, rainbow and brook trout, the Lahontan cutthroat trout is actually Lake Tahoe's only native trout species. It's also the largest. It is huge. It can grow up to be four feet long and 40 pounds. You're going to need a bigger net, maybe a bigger boat. All right, so what's the story behind all this? Well, the fish actually, people kind of thought it had gone away. The big place for this is Pyramid Lake in Nevada, which is kind of close to Reno. And they are huge out there. But they were gone for a very long time. They actually found this species of trout. It's very specific. In like this guy's pond. Kind of in the middle of nowhere. And they were able to kind of rehab this and reintroduce it into streams and places. So to have this come back at Lake Tahoe is a really big deal. And it's pretty exciting. And the officials up there say that they're looking to look forward to the growth, survival and distribution of this threatened fish. We have much to learn and understand about the LCT and their home waters of Lake Tahoe. Wow, this is such a great story. All right, I'm Big Rick Stewart. A little wildlife story in the mix today. I've got an update for you from Hollywood Reporter. One of the most popular streaming shows ever of all time. Ever, ever, ever. The people behind Squid Game have given out this information. First of all, you should know. This series ranks first all time among Netflix series regardless of language. Both in views, 265.2 million measured by total viewing divided by running time. In total watch time, people have watched this show 2.2 billion hours. Wow. Over its first 13 weeks of release. That is just wild, right? All right, so when can you watch the next season? Well, here you go. The show's second season, there's only been one so far, scheduled to premiere December 26th. They say that is like one of the most popular days for streaming shows. I used to think about it like, yeah, I think I streamed a lot on December 26th. Netflix and Squid Game's executive producer, writer, and director also announced that a third and final season will premiere in 2025. All right, so open your Christmas presents, do the thing, crazy, clean up the house, and then just lay on the couch and watch Squid Game. This is not my favorite show. I just wanted to say this. And if it's yours, that's fine. If it's not you, that's all cool. I never want to, you know, try to make you think the way I think. I don't need that in life. It's like way too violent. I don't know if you should let kids watch it. But again, like, you know, you do you. It is like crazy. I really wasn't paying attention. And it was on where I was, and then I look up and people just get like machine guns. And I'm like, no, this is not my thing. I'm more of a Dragon Ball Z guy these days. I'm kind of retroing back. That's part two for Squid Game, coming to Netflix. I'm Big Rick Stewart, the Wine Country Saturday Soundtrack of 99.3 The Vine.
