The speaker guides listeners to get comfortable, let go of worries, and focus on feeling safe. They emphasize the importance of having a physical reference for healing and recognizing safety in the body. By recalling a moment of ease with another person and focusing on physical sensations, one can establish a "safety signature" for the nervous system. This practice helps to differentiate genuine safety from chronic tension and prepares the body to recognize safety instinctively. Further exercises are planned for the following days to solidify these concepts. Before we start, I want you to get comfortable. Not perfectly comfortable, just comfortable enough. If you're sitting, let your back have some support. If you're lying down, let your body be heavy. Take one breath, just one, and on the exhale, let your shoulders drop. Good. I'm going to ask you to put whatever's happening in your life right now. The to-do list, the thing he said, the thing you're still thinking about. Put all of it aside for the next few minutes. Not forever, just for now. For right now, there's nothing else you need to be doing. Nowhere you need to be. No one you need to respond to. Just this. Take another breath. Good. Let's begin. You can't move towards something you've never felt. That's the thing nobody tells you about healing from this kind of relationship. It's not enough to know what you don't want anymore. You need a felt reference for what you do want. Something your nervous system can actually recognize when it arrives. Today, we build that reference. We're not talking about it. We're not describing it. We're feeling it in your body. Right now, safety has a physical signature, just like the loop does. It tends to arrive as ease in the chest, a softening, not a tightening. Breath that goes a little deeper than usual. A tension that can move. You can think about this person and also think about what you want for dinner. You're not locked on. And underneath it all, an absence. The scanning impulse isn't there. You're not bracing for something to go wrong. That absence is often what safety feels like at first. Not a new feeling. The removal of a chronic one. I want you to think of a time when you felt genuinely at ease with another person. Not romantic. It could be a friend, a parent at their best, a mentor, a pet, a place that felt like home. One moment when you were simply safe. Found it? Good. Now close your eyes if that's comfortable. Bring that moment into your body, not your mind. Don't narrate it. Just feel it. What happens in your chest? What happens in your breath? What does your jaw do? Your shoulders? Stay in that feeling for 90 seconds. Let it fill the body. Don't think about it. Just receive it. Good. Name three physical sensations you noticed. Just three words. Those three words are your safety signature. Your nervous system now has a reference point. It knows what safety feels like. Not as a concept, but as something it has actually felt. What if you could recognize safety before your mind had decided whether someone was trustworthy? What if the body could do the checking quietly, accurately, before the loop had a chance to run its interference? That's what you just built. Rest now. We have three more days. They're the ones that make everything else stick.
