The 2023 MLB season will have three new rule changes that were tested in the minor leagues. These changes aim to improve the pace of play and make games more exciting for casual fans. MLB has the advantage of experimenting with new ideas and rules in its sub-levels. The rule changes announced have been thoroughly tested in around 8,000 minor league games, equivalent to three and a half major league seasons. The 2023 Major League Baseball season will feel a little different to fans than previous seasons, other than that weird, condensed season we had in 2020. There will be three new rule changes, or additions of rules, which have been tested in the minor leagues over previous seasons. These rules were primarily served to improve on the pace of play as well as making baseball games more exciting and watchable to the casual fan. One advantage Major League Baseball has over other major sports organizations is that it has various sub-levels with which new ideas and rule changes can be experimented on throughout the course of a season. According to an MLB.com spokesman, the rule changes we're announcing today have been thoroughly tested and refined for years in the minor leagues. Each of these rules have been tested in approximately 8,000 minor league games dating back to last season, which is the equivalent of three and a half complete major league seasons.
