The Angels of Mons

"The Angels of Mons" is a story that gained popularity during World War I, which tells of a group of angels that protected British soldiers during the Battle of Mons. The story was developed by Arthur Machen, but is considered fictitious. It is believed that the legend was spread through rumors, mass hysteria and urban legend, as well as possibly through propaganda. Although there were claims of visions after the battle that supported the story, it is generally accepted that "The Angels of Mons" is a work of fiction.
