Hello friends today we are going to study about the laser I want to welcome all of you in this lecture of laser. So laser is nothing but a light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Lasers are used for different applications in a medical field in industrial purpose and in a day-to-day life. Laser is a quantum electronic device which produces a beam of coherent monochromatic highly intense light of beam of visible light. So we want to study first the characteristics of laser. So the first characteristic of laser is coherent. So coherent means all the laser beam produces a same phase wave. So it indicates that all the photons which are emitted from the source of light emits all the photons in a same phase. Then second characteristic is monochromaticity. It indicates that it produces a light of unique color. So the color depends upon the frequency of the photon. Third one is it has highly intense beam. So as the emitted photon has equal amplitude then the intensity of laser beam is very high. If it travels in a straight line so the property assist with the laser beam is a unidirectionality. It has less divergence. So laser beam is nothing but a beam which is used in industry to cut, weld, drill the metals. Also in a medical field in a surgery different types of lasers of low intensity are used to make automatic operations in a medical field. Also the lasers are used for entertainment purposes for different lightning sources in a different DJ sources and all things. Thank you
