The speaker's school has a monthly celebration where students receive raffle tickets for being kind and respectful. The speaker won one of these awards but was unable to attend school the day after because they had to go to Georgia for a week and a half. Now, at my school, we have a little celebration every month where students get awarded a raffle ticket for being kind and respectful and stuff. Now, of course, being the kind gentleman I am, I won one of these awards. Yeah, no biggie. But the thing is, the ticket winner wasn't announced a day after the tickets were handed out. Not that important, right? Well, it was for me! Because the day after I won, I had to go to Georgia for like a week and a half! Meaning, I couldn't go to school that day!
