Upward and Awkward is a podcast created by Amy and Nancy, two divorced single moms who met in midlife. They share their stories and experiences about navigating love and life. The podcast aims to create a community where people can feel less alone and find connection. They cover various topics such as relationships, boundaries, trauma healing, and the power of companionship. The podcast will launch in early 2024 and invites listeners to follow them on Instagram for updates. All right, take whatever trailer. Hi, I'm Amy. Hi, I'm Nancy. We are the co-creators and co-hosts of Upward and Awkward. Upward and Awkward is a place where the weird, hard parts of life and love are perfectly normal. This podcast emerged from our long talks, musings, and life experiences and our fascination with other people's stories and the inspiration they provide. We met in midlife when we and a mutual friend went dancing at a Rihanna-Beyonce dance party. Okay. We became fast friends when we discovered we were both divorced moms who'd lived around the corner from each other for many years. What's that? Try it louder. And... Write down. Just start. We met in midlife. All right. We met in midlife when we went dancing with a mutual friend on Valentine's Day 2020, Beyonce versus Rihanna. We became fast friends when we discovered we were both divorced moms who'd lived around the corner from each other for many years and had similar stories when it came to navigating love and life right down to our early days as young girls in the 70s and 80s who were awkwardly tall and skinny with voracious appetites, busy creative minds, big hearts, and the true belief that we had landed here from another planet. We're two divorced single moms who've made it through some difficult times thanks to the support and people and spaces where we got the gift of showing up exactly as we are. Along the way, we've forgotten and remembered countless times that we're not only not alone in this thing called life, but that having companions along the way can be revolutionary. On this podcast planet, we'll share our musings and fathom the lessons we're learning when it comes to living and loving with a high-vibe, inclusive, and ever-loving community of people who, like us, are doing the brave, badass work of taking things upward even when, and especially when, it's hard and awkward. People need spaces for honest talk on topics that so many are pondering, feeling, and living. This, we feel like, is a modern-day story circle. At many times in our lives, we wished for spaces like this. We want this to be an intergenerational, communal space for people of all ages and life stages, Gen X, Gen Z, millennials, and maybe even a few boomers like our parents. Some of our episodes will be two-way conversations between us. Others will bring in guests who we love and admire and think you will, too. A safe space, a refuge in the wilderness. When you come here, you'll feel less alone, isolated, and a bit less extra. We know we're not the only ones looking for a place to land, learn, get centered, while having fun, and feeling connection. Some of the topics we'll cover are what we tell our younger selves, divorce, dating, relationships, female friendships, motherhood, boundaries, being women in the world, including from artists, writers, musicians who inspire and heal us. What makes a person a safe space? How to shed old layers and make room for new growth. Trauma and post-traumatic healing. And the medicinal power of not doing life alone. Upward and Awkward is produced and recorded in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. The premiere season will launch in early 2024 on wherever you listen to podcasts. We invite you to pull up a seat. Follow us on Instagram at Upward and Awkward, and we'll come back together here when we launch season one soon.
