The speaker and their father have very different personalities and routines. The speaker likes to relax and sleep in, while the father is an early riser who likes to be productive. The speaker finds it difficult to adjust to their father's strict schedule, even on Christmas morning. As a result, the speaker plans to avoid their father as much as possible to avoid conflict. It's hard to imagine two people more different than me and my dad, so Weber came up with the saying, like father, like son. Never met the two of us. For instance, I've been trying to take it easy over the holiday break, and I like to stay in bed until I can't stand the taste of my own breath anymore. But my dad's one of those guys who likes to get up at the crack of dawn and start getting things done. Once I'm out of bed, I'm one of those people that likes to ease into their morning, and for me, that means spending a few minutes warming up over the heating vent. But I guess my dad's just not wired the same way. Even on Christmas morning, dad's in full drill sergeant mode. I know he just wants to be on time for church, but there's gotta be a better way to get your kid moving. So after today, my plan is to stay out of my dad's way as much as possible, because the combination of the two of us just isn't working.
