because you know I asked you before you wouldn't tell me what you mean yeah I was like I really want to know like what's going on with the program and like how because I was very first of all reason I didn't bring it up I was very impressed because I came in today and the kids wanted to play chess and they just get the chess boards out themselves and they just start playing each other and they're improving and they're getting better and um they're changing and because chess chess just makes you strategic you know you don't even realize how smart it's making you and it's because you're building like new neural pathways strategy you know makes you build new neural pathways in your brain and so it's like it transfers over to other things that you do in life it makes you better at other things you just don't realize it so watching them um playing the chess and knowing that they're developing it developing uh by playing the game and they want to do it I was super impressed with your program because I didn't know how that how well really I didn't either right because sometimes you get though it's a hit or miss I didn't did this program in Ohio I did it over at East Allen County before COVID yeah and uh it do it just hit different you got them times where you got kids that sports to be there because parents just making them stay out of school but these kids have been coming because they really want to learn chess yeah and then they know like that first hour sometimes I'll flip it around sometimes it'll be chess and then sometimes it'll be the mentoring part and then I'm able to pull them put them sit them in games and then kind of pull one at a time yeah have a conversation with them see where they're at see where they're what's going on in their life and where I can help right and how I can guide them and also tell them how the way they play in chess is the way they're moving in their life whoa yeah that hit different Mr. Davis it's supposed to it's true yeah that hit different so basically you was able to just make an evaluation like of how they even move the pieces if they're impulsive if they're patient yes if they know how if they're strategizing who's sitting there what are you doing all right are you engaged are you um just are you gonna move yeah relax a little bit so the chess is a huge because the chess really gives you some type of um some type of information so you can mentor yes yeah that makes a lot of sense so um so with that how many people actually came a bit because I know Scott been coming to yours Scott um oh names yeah uh we got we got a couple locals from around the neighborhood yeah that's good yeah uh a few kids from the class right and we got our our number one stunner I'm saying his name Renard our number one stunner so Renard yeah he's been here for everything every time yep Tuesday Thursday and he's excited each time that's what's up yeah so I mean like so probably about it's probably about six about six of us six man Thursday's be popping yeah and then I also have a helper Mr. Williams yeah local from around the neighborhood really strong male positive guy and sometimes when I'm missing cues he's picking them up and I'm like oh that's a good partnership oh hold on I just did a scene did it check the camera it's Michael what happened it just stopped yeah there's some settings that I gotta figure out tricking cameras anyway so um yeah like I was really I've been really impressed with your program and I know I know you just ain't saying you're impressed because that's like we trying to not only be posers but I mean like don't don't get it twisted like I'm I'm I've always been impressed with the way you handle your audio animation and just the way they get pulled in don't act like they just getting on that we had a kid that's my blow-up kid I ain't got said man this is my blow-up kid and uh remember he told you I don't want nothing to do with music I don't want to I don't want to write raps or do none of that that's not the music I listen to like we was just forcing rap like take some rap and you make rap yeah and you in and you know what at first I was you know I told you I was like man you got to find a way to get that that that one kid engaged and then I see how you just kind of ease off of him and then as he seen what you were doing with the other kids and how he came to you yeah so I thought that was pretty good I didn't I didn't think that was gonna work with that particular kid yeah and I seen the way you wrote the man and then like me and him talking to his parents because I had to have a conference or a meeting if you will yeah and uh how excited he was about Joseph really oh my god you gotta come and listen I did music and uh it's for video games and I'm like he right she's like how does he keep going from these different I'm like we trying to help we're trying to fix and then what did she ask who the mother he she asked how's he going from these highs and lows with us like especially with the incident yeah and then not just the incident but that's not putting him out right he been at plenty of schools and they just kick him out yeah gone and then you know the way we handled it was different and we just told him because we care and then I did I take the approach of sometimes being aggressive or you know coming a little harder with him because I have to maintain structure back there but then the way I seen you ease off and then he came to you I thought that was a good bait and I wanted to you know commend you yeah on doing that because that was that was great thank you yeah you know I don't know how much I am for the whole music and all that like you know I see what you're doing and you're doing a good job as well man to just keep on keeping them going the way they is and because they can't wait till Tuesdays either they they on Tuesday night they telling their parents we got to be here on Tuesday and Thursday from five to seven that's amazing bro so yeah that's keep on working bro what you're doing is doing good as well yeah I mean that's amazing thanks for I didn't even know that that he I know you didn't tell able to see you know the other kids music the beat he made and then listen to the other song that the other kid made and admired that right I just felt like I think he felt like he just couldn't do that you know he's like I but I can't do that that's not what I do but I was like but what can you do you know like I was like you got to do something that you do bro right you ain't got to do what they're doing right do what you do and then when he found his own lane and started making his own sounds and then it was appreciated by others like that his peers they heard it they liked it and now and see and I can understand so we're talking a little bit from our day-to-day into our after school program yeah so I guess the only thing that I was saying to you when I was like hey no man you gotta you gotta keep him engaged you gotta you got to pull him in it wasn't that I was thinking like you wasn't going to help him as effectively as you helped the others it was more so that this is a part of our emotional and social healing process and we've added that into our day reporting curriculum yeah so he has to be engaged right you get what I'm saying so and then I see how the other ones are like you spark that interest and now everybody just want to get to you for the after school can you call my mom Mr. Davis and tell her can you call my grandma no I'm not because you're supposed to have known this we just didn't start this thing you know this journey didn't happen today we've been told you guys about it so I just want more people to engage bring your kids on out yeah Mr. Allen can you just kind of I know I cut you off but can you kind of just explain more about the program the audio program and where you going with it yeah so we did create a nine week curriculum um and the whole idea is for we so we call the the curriculum we call the program heart chords heart chords right and the whole idea is like a violin chords or is it I mean it's not specific you know I just thought the reason that we're talking about the chords is because what I was talking about with the music is we strike an accord right with the sound within the person you know like when they hear it it's like it's something in it that inspires you right you know what I'm saying so and then like so the the vibe of the sound because through the music and the beats I can teach them about like notes octaves and different and how the different notes make you have different feelings so they can learn more about what they're listening to and how it's impacting their circumstance or their reality or their mind or their psyche or spirit you know I'm really it's really an orientation to give you because now I listen to specific things because I don't want certain things in my mind like give you if like certain types of music if you listen to it like I don't really listen to a lot of rap oh anymore like I listen to my own music that that I make that when I rap right but I don't listen to other you understand the message that you put out yes I'm hypnotizing myself with my own message I'm like so I'm trying to teach them kind of how to I like old school and love making music yeah I like that I like the skate connection skate music remember oh yeah computer love okay hey don't go down this rabbit hole with me but the whole program the whole thing is to really um teach these to really create a whole new um a whole new genre like a music of like music that's like I call it manifestation music but it's really powerful music about your future so I got one kid he's rapping by his football he's rapping about like he was here to win and never fail that's it all on the field you know that he's rapping about him doing great scoring touchdown so it's like that's now repeating in your mind that's who you you're becoming that it's like a mantra and then Scott he I was like Scott tell me oh and then the other kid yeah we can't say their names so then the other kid he told me I want to run track and I was like okay let's write a song about you running track so he wrote his song about him running track being successful at it doing great and he started repeating it and repeating it because he had to I told him like you before we go in the studio you got to rehearse you got to learn the verse you know you got to know it you got to be able to just spit it out with the feeling and and meaning and to do that you have to know it so then I got him rehearsing and it's like a mantra they're saying their lyrics over and over and over so now that's just burned into the back of their mind but it's positive you know so then when they wake up like here to win and never fail they wake up with that on their mind you see what I'm saying exactly exactly so it's like I'm like you need to you need to um a music like it's like a soundtrack to your life if you ever had experiences during different times in your life there's different music that you was listening to yes that relates to that time period you know what I mean so what I'm trying to show these kids how to do is create their own soundtrack to their life like this is when I was going through this I made this when I was going through this I made this and what I'm also getting them to then because what I want them to realize over time is wow I made this song and it came true because my music comes true my videos when I make videos they come true when I make animations they come true manifestation they manifest you see what I'm saying I'm no doubt I'm with you so instead of like sit here and meditate I'm manifest I'm like nah let's make some music about your future let's show you know what I'm saying let's strike some chords let's get some good vibes see that's that's like that's a new weapon for the new age you know like bow and arrows yeah I can be seated here in indiana and blowing shit up I got a little too excited and looking like a man but yeah but yeah that's cool manifestation yeah like I mean how do you really fix stuff you gotta like we don't really we don't realize how things actually work man but manifestation is so real in your life always you know and even if you don't programs that no matter what they run in hand in hand they intertwine because father first is who are you can't know who you are if you don't know what you are that sounds dumb as hell I know in the moment but you know this is crazy then it go over to you and then you like manifestation then I can bring it back and you know yeah you have to know who you are to manifest things in your life bro and he's gonna listen to me and so when we go in there when you run these ads put some of your music on there so I can hear it taste because I like it go ahead my bad all right anyway so so when he came in here and he came in the studio I had to teach him how to slow down and how to get in his own and how to focus and how to how to say the words and enunciate the words like how to pronounce the words right and get it out and get the feeling out like and all of that stuff was a test to his goal the focus the calming down the channeling you know the spirit you know what I'm saying like I'm like you gotta you gotta channel your inner spirit bro like you gotta let the words come out you gotta let them fall out bro you can't if you try to say them if you try to say them to the beat it come out whack bro it's like it sounds like a robot you sound like a robot bro you can't sound like a robot you gotta deliver it with feeling and heart and meaning and he just did it over and over and over repetition then the sending you back and you don't even realize you're doing the exact same thing yes it's the principles though bro we teaching them guiding principles not it's not like an everyday you did this wrong just correct this now it's no it's these guiding principles that teach you how to teach yourself yeah because once you got principles bro you correct yourself that's big you know just like a computer that 30-day delete yeah you got like a little 30 days you need it we need more space some of us operate on their on that 10-day delete but see the thing is principles remain right when you learn principles that you don't delete that those are your guiding guidestones yeah that's your guiding light so it's like when you have principles you can dis-earn circumstances in the moment your principles allow you to gain dis-earnment and more experience the greater level of dis-earnment you'll have so the more experiences you have the more dis-earnment you'll develop so you need experience and principles for great decision making abilities and you know what i'm i'm i meant for great decision making abilities there you go perfect perfect uh i think too a lot of times where we might miss the mark even with having these these profound great teaching experiences that we're talking to kids and i'm not just talking about kids but i'm talking about adults as well using words that they don't understand but playing like they know what they're talking about like uh not you but i'm saying like dis-earnment that'll be used that'll be used the kid will use it manipulation the kid will use that they'll use that word they didn't heard it and they didn't heard it in certain contexts in their lives and other parts of adult lives yeah or might have heard it in church but they really need to understand what the words is because i've sat there on my round talks yeah in the morning yeah and just said a word and asked them what do it mean and they told me what they thought it mean but out of these five kids that i had at the table everybody had a different meaning for the same word and i'm like where did you get this from um so i showed them what it meant and i'm making them write it down now in their journals right that's powerful and they're using it let me go let's go alan they're using it but it's very important that us as parents we or us as individuals human beings yeah start learning what we are saying so that manifestation happens in a timely manner that's correct you talking about etymology and i mean it's called etymology etymology is just the definition it's the true definition of words of words because a lot of times if you don't you'll you'll say something and it'll mess up your whole manifestation yep and the thing is we don't odd word that we use we don't know the real definitions like we use words incorrectly all the time yes like for instance did you know that when you say when you say do you understand me you're asking someone to stand under you like if the police pull you over when they ask you do you understand and you say yes i understand you're giving them power you're giving them you're giving away your power and this is in the dictionary of legalese that's what's great that's why they come to the side and they say do you know why i'm pulling you over i don't answer questions no no i don't answer questions get on with this ticket my car don't smell like nothing bro get on with you we're not friends they're not doing us any favors i don't know they're not doing us any favors bro they're not doing us any favors they don't pull you over and say hey well you were doing 90 i'm gonna give you 74 you're still getting a ticket yeah the 90 increases it to reckless driving and then they got to do words means and sometimes we like even when we use compound words both those words in the compound word have their own meanings but we just discard that like we're not saying anything and like words are waves okay waves and sounds have effects so you can't really change the meaning of a wave you cannot you can't change the effect of a sound that's why words have meaning and both of them hit so if you misunderstand what our words what words mean and you use it wrongly it still means that yep you still manifest in the thing that you don't want even because you don't know what it means you see what i'm saying so it's so powerful to just understand what you're saying in the words you're using because then you can you can start understanding why certain things were happening in your life before that you didn't get you're like why is this happening why is this happening why you're you're calling it you're bringing it yes yes go brother keep spells that's exactly that's what we do with our mouth we cast spells yes sir you know that yes especially with the english language the english language designed to cast spells that's why ours in english language is so backwards to people from other countries because we even write different we write right to left everybody else write left to right do they i'm gonna say everybody yeah i'm like wow but not not not everybody but there's a lot of like older like older older dialects older uh older uh civilizations they write the they write i think in um i think in uh what is this what's the muslim countries i think they write arabic arabic sorry you're really excusing yourself because you're a sorry person which is why you do sorry things that's crazy right feeling regret or penance feeling distress especially through sympathy with someone else's misfortune i think one of those key words is good sympathy i'm sorry no that's a good yeah you're sorry person but for others misfortune i'm sorry that my actions caused you misfortune hey so let's talk about the word sympathy because that wasn't i was thinking about this the other day because you got sympathy and you got empathy right i'm sorry what did you say you sorry person no i'm sorry i didn't you sorry you didn't hear me because you sorry you didn't hear me because you're sorry for your misfortune for thinking about those two words but check it out i've got sympathy and empathy i think people think they mean the same thing you can't you can't believe bro but but but but give me give me this one okay i could see why because of the way they've been used in different contexts and for one person saying it and they trusted that person who was saying it and they did it wrong and it just became tradition of miscommunication look up sympathize let's look at what sympathize mean and empathize so let's look up at the definition we're going root word all right because it wouldn't be sympathize it would be sympathy okay sympathy empathy you gotta remember that sympathy feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune all right empathy you all right working really good on this now there go and click the ability to understand and share the feelings of another um that's a big difference huge that's why i couldn't believe like i ain't saying you were lying but i can't believe that somebody could get them confused but i can understand yeah i mean that's where i use that word that's true so they don't really know the difference but i don't usually sympathize i empathize i understand your perspective right usually i'm like hmm i understand so when would you use would you use sympathy with someone losing someone or empathy or empathy with someone losing someone i you know what the thing is um so some people if you don't sympathize with them they take it as offensive okay you see what i'm saying yeah they're misfortune because yeah right right right they have a misfortune and they're feeling a certain type of way and they're like why aren't you impacted by my misfortune you see me going through this how come you're not feeling bad for me yeah how come you're not pitying me yeah you see what i'm saying so um i have a hard time with that because i don't really pity people because this is life we all go through stuff you know what i'm saying like the thing is is that you a student of a lesson or you're the victim of a circumstance you tried me one or the other but you can't be both you got to be because if you a victim you ain't learning no lesson so i'm not sitting around sympathizing with you i empathize with you i empathize about your circumstance but i also understand that there's actions that you probably need to take next there's or there's a lesson or something that you probably supposed to draw from this or there's some type of strength that you're supposed to draw from it there's something that you take from the experience but sitting around victimizing yourself doesn't give you that ability to take the lesson you're right so i can't like me sympathizing with you isn't helping you like if i really cared about you i wouldn't sit around sympathizing with you and letting you wallow and wallowing with you and your pity and oh yeah you're right it's so bad you're a victim like no i think you can be both until you draw completely away from victimization you just sometimes you become a victim without you even realizing it because that's a part of depression and sometimes you can fall in that hole and then try to move out a certain way without learning a lesson and you end up back into it that's why i say you can be both because depression is like a pothole on the street you go down right before you get home anyway and you know that pothole is there and you try to miss it but every time you miss it and go fast it you come back down the street because you got to get to your house and that pothole then got bigger right and then before you realize it's a crater and then you didn't fell into the crater with the whole car you're really down there trying to figure out you know what i'm saying like that's the way i see it in my mind and it's just it's just it's just hard not to be a victim when you inside of him because you can't manifest for somebody else but you can drop a seed and they can take that and grow that thing better than you could and it's going to be even worse because they believe it so now they do hear the voices now they can't control themselves so i just think it's so much harder for us to look at them and say no go ahead get it out it's important you're important this is important for your well-being right now you're not going to get to somewhere else you're in this place right now not because you're bad because the training you need to unlock somebody else is journeying after this everybody has to be imparting the same things into this kid so we can make the changes that's necessary for the next generation you get what i'm saying we're not doing it we're we're missing marks because and we can only control what we can control when we can control it and we can only be impactful to these kids that come they have to come in order for us to to impart them to them you know what i'm saying but when we are doing it we got to be purposeful yes we gotta be purposeful and because you are living your purpose because you are being who you are gotta take the increase on all this every time we not eyes and weeds and nah it's God this is God's business bro yeah at least coming from me and i know coming from you i ain't saying it like that our organization it's growing lives it's growing minds but we but the thing is is that we also act selflessly here we serve selflessly here ain't we supposed to yeah we supposed to but guess what people don't so is what happened but it was like 2008 okay and i was making money i was living down in Pittsburgh i had my own townhouse you know i i could do whatever i want and i was young too i was in my 20s i was is this life i'm like what is this i just go to work every day i make some money i come home i go out with my friends at night i don't really want to but there's nothing else to this life what is this and um i was like god why don't you show me like what is this all about can you come show me and he took everything away from me my business failed all my technicians i had like seven technicians that was working for me they the job stopped coming they stopped working there wasn't no jobs my residuals was over my money was coming in i didn't there was no jobs for me you know i said then it was like he um i wasn't so i sold all my tools i was like man i'm gonna just sell all my tools i started then i started learning how to try to learn how to sell i failed at selling and um after everything was gone i started realizing because when everything was gone and then i didn't i didn't have the money and i wasn't doing the things the only person that i could see that was doing them was god i was like dang these things are happening and i can't deal with it but he was dealing with it he would fix it before when you got money you think you're the one that's doing it you think you you think that power that you using you think that that it's all you it's all you you see but when you don't have anything and we stripped you down takes everything away and there ain't nothing there but you and him you know what's going on you powerless you sitting there powerless and he just moved moved moved and then you realize you ain't even need all that stuff you didn't that stuff was filling up your attention it filled up your space it filled up your mind you were your mind wasn't free you couldn't focus you couldn't pray you couldn't do all all the things that you can do now with the space he's giving you and the things he took you thought you was losing stuff no you was getting rid of stuff i thought i was losing things he showed me no you got rid of those things now it's just me and you
