He invites listeners to share their own experiences and thoughts on joining the military. Overall, he is optimistic and eager for what lies ahead. Hello, hello, this is Akili for Happy Ass Black Boy, you know, this is my first time actually uploading a real podcast, you know, I tried to do one with Twitch, but I didn't realize that Twitch was a platform where they will delete your videos if you're, you know, not subscribed or something like that, so I just wasn't aware that they would be deleting things, so I just didn't continue pursuing the podcast, the podcast route, but I'm definitely excited to do this for my classes, for my social media class, and yeah, and I just wanted to give you all an update on how things are going for me, how life is, and where my career is going, so I'm definitely exploring new endeavors, but I just want to go over how, like, you know, the update of photography and modeling and art world, photography has been amazing, you know, like, I've been getting booked for a lot of these events this year, I've done about, like, four or five events this year, professionally, they've been really cool, I've been, like, learning how to, you know, like, get my lighting straight and also figure out, like, what kind of elements are needed to, you know, create those, like, photographs and send them to everyone, the elements that are needed to, you know, have that, like, you know, that real feel of, like, if you were there, you know, just, like, doctoring all of the images, you know, so I'm comfortable with sharing it with everyone, and also feedback has been a really big thing for me this year as well, like, just, like, having other people, you know, give me their ideas and their perspective on the work that's being put out and their, you know, their perspective on life in general has been, like, really helpful in understanding how I need to go about, you know, my things and the way that I'm putting out my work, because I want to be consistent and I want to, you know, continue sharing, like, great stories and continue, oh my goodness, continue sharing them in, like, the best way possible, you know, like, you know, perfectionism is, like, a thing for me, but if I can't get perfection, I want to be close to it, you know, like, and I just want to make sure that, you know, everyone's, like, you know, loving it, you know, and as well as myself, so having that feedback, but also, like, still having that individualism, like, within myself, like, it's been a lot of, like, ring around the rosie, pockets full of posies, like, you know, just, like, keep it pushing for me, you know, and accepting feedback and working on it until it's greater than what it was, you know, and, yeah, the best thing about photography is that, like, you definitely, what I've learned is that you definitely do want to be able to go into the photo shoot, whatever, if it's a event or photographer, oh my goodness, an event or just, like, a portrait or, like, landscape or whatever, like, you want to go into it, you know, with the concept and the settings all right, you know, so that when you're snapping the picture, it's going to be close to the outcome that you really want, so you don't even have to, like, doctor it that much, so, yeah, like, it's just been a lot of, like, learning trials and tribulations for me, especially with photography. Modeling, dang, modeling, it's been pretty smooth as well. I mean, I've definitely been doing a lot of booking myself, like, booking photographers myself, I mean, so that I can, like, you know, have that portfolio of modeling. It's been a lot of that and I've definitely been modeling for brands as well. There's probably been, like, at least, like, just, like, one or two brands that I've modeled for this year, which I'm really proud of because yeah, I didn't have to do all of the, like, seeking for photographers and, like, you know, like, I didn't have to do all of that myself, like, that was already planned for me, so I was just, I'm just, like, really grateful for the experiences that I've had this year. 2022 is definitely one for the books, doing things that I've, like, never been able to do, which is, like, actually, like, hiring people to do things for me, like, photography, instead of, like, you know, when I was, like, first starting out, like, I was really just doing things myself, like, I was just doing self-portraits and, like, you know, wishing and, like, writing down the goals that I'm, like, you know, accomplishing right now, so I'm actually just really grateful for this year. I definitely still do have prints for sale. I've taken them offline of online ordering, offline from online ordering. Wow, I shouldn't even say those two words in the same sentence, but I've taken them off from online ordering because I will be joining the military, y'all, like, this is my new endeavor that I am getting into, you know, these day jobs have been a little bit difficult for me to actually stay focused and stay motivated when I have to, like, keep reapplying myself over and over again for, you know, different jobs, so it's just been really hard for me to keep my focus in that setting, in that way, especially when I've had the experience that I do have for previous jobs. I think the military can be really good for me. The branch that I will be joining is the navy. I will be a sailor. I will be shipping out for boot camp very, very soon at the end of this year. I'm not trying to give y'all too many details, you know, but I'm going to be watching, like, you know, like, to be real. So, yeah, I'm definitely going to be shipping out for boot camp by the end of the year, and I'll be out there for about 10 weeks, which will be in Chicago, and then I'll be going into schooling for the navy for the job training that I'm going into, which is advanced electronics and computer field, AECF, and that will allow me to either go into, what is it, it will allow me to go into, it'll allow me to go into two different fields, either electronics technician or fire controlman, and I'll be able to choose once I finish my schooling and stuff like that, my training, and I'm just really excited for this. The military, I've definitely, like, always, like, thought that I would never, like, end up there, like, and it's crazy that their marketing campaigns recently is, like, never with the question mark, and, yeah, like, shit, never, like, I didn't, I didn't think I was ever, ever really going to consider it, but, yeah, it's definitely going to happen. I feel like I've been longing for this, you know, community and consistency for a really long time, and joining something that has a very, like, interesting impact on this world and definitely has something to do with serving this country, I think it can be something, you know, very interesting to put under my belt and for me to, like, help people and just help myself and create an impact and definitely an impact on my finances. Yeah, like, my goals after, you know, serving, I definitely want to still, and also while I'm serving with the, like, you know, amount of time and freedom that I can have, I want to be able to still create, you know, I still want to be able to create photography and create portraits and just images, whether I'm modeling, you know, in whatever place that I am at or taking pictures in the places that I'm at as well. So, yeah, I'm just definitely really excited for this new chapter. I'm about to turn 24 this year as well, so I'll definitely be in boot camp for my birthday, so happy birthday to me! Like, what? So, yeah, that is my update, my update for Happy Ass Black Boy. I'm just really excited to see where this is going to take me and the brand as well. I'll probably be updating the logo for myself by the time I'm out and I have that freedom to because my hair is going to be gone, so, you know, that hair was definitely a staple in my logo as well. It looks like an ice cream cone if you haven't, like, caught on to that, so I'm gonna have to, like, change it up a little bit, you know? Like, thankfully it wasn't, like, Happy Ass Afro Black Boy or something like that. Like, it didn't have the Afro name and Afro in the name, you know? So, I can definitely keep Happy Ass Black Boy alive. It's just that the logo will be changing to go with the image of the person that's creating it, which is me. So, yeah, I'm really excited. Navy, go Navy. Forged by the sea. Yeah, definitely let me know what you think. If you've been pursuing a lot of things this year or even some things this year, let me know what you've been up to and also if you would join the military. Yeah, if you've gotten this far in my podcast and listened to me, definitely let me know what you think. I'm definitely grateful to be able to serve this country, you know, serve the United States of America, and, you know, I'm excited for them to put some coin in my bank. Yeah, give me all of it. Give me the Andrew Jacksons, the Abraham Lincolns, the Ben Franklin, the George Washington, you know, like put them all in my bank account and I will serve this country. Let's go, Happy Ass Black Boy. We outta here.
