The novel follows two primary voices: Xerxes, an Ezekiel scholar from Ares, and Oktweet, an amphibious Thrum from the ocean world of Hydrogaia. Their civilizations—one shaped by cycles of technological hubris and collapse, the other by fluid continuity and distributed awareness—encounter a moment of profound reckoning. A catastrophic event known as the Great Oscillation destabilizes the gravitational web that binds their solar system.
