The individual is recording a podcast and discussing various technical aspects of the recording process. They mention the importance of having a tech support person to handle recording and timekeeping. They also discuss strategies to improve audio quality, such as using pillows or setting up a recording station in a closet. The individual acknowledges that while good audio quality is important, the content of the podcast is ultimately what matters most. or I don't know. Okay so we're recording now. Yeah I need to say got it. So I mean it doesn't really it doesn't really matter because a lot of this is we're just hearing our sound and everything and seeing what our file looks like. Okay so do you want me to. This is good because Ben's making noise right now. Hey Ben make up a few noises in there. Because we're recording and I want to see how much background can you hear. Oh yeah. Okay thanks buddy. Okay so do you want me to. I can just kind of practice. I'll just ask you one of these questions and you can just make something up like you're and I'm going to make like speaker. Perfect. See if I make some. Yeah you can edit. Well you know I had that thought something we should tell our participants the people that we're interviewing. If there's something like a cough or a sneeze we can always like take a beat and then just have a have a word that we say like restart or something to like to know that we can edit that part out if we want to. And yes if you want to if even better you can just kind of go or something like that like show up on the you know it'll be such a different little mark. Yes. Or if you want to write down the you can you see like your time. Is there a clock anywhere? No I mean I. How many minutes? No I don't think so but I could put on a timer. That could be something. Yeah that would be good. We have to focus on so many things. I wasn't thinking there. Well the other thing is that it might not be a bad idea to have a tech support person on the Zoom in the state like you could be on or we could have our grad assistant or somebody who's just there for like tech support keeping track of the time record like they could that person do all the recording at that because we do that for webinars and our workshops. So I think that could actually be helpful to do something like that. Yeah. I think what would be really helpful and they'd have to be like you probably mute them maybe. Yeah for sure. And then they can just what would be super helpful is if they were running a timer as soon as you hit record even if you'll talk for another five minutes. But if they if someone coughed or if you know. Yes. And it will be needed at around 330. You know just so we can kind of I think that would be helpful. Yes they could have because we can have their camera off the muted and you can even have even if we were thinking about keeping the recording of the video if their cameras off you can set your zoom to only show people on camera. So then the recording wouldn't show that person either. So that would be good. OK. So I'm just going to kind of pretend we're starting this this podcast. Thanks so much for joining us today. We're excited to kind of talk about I don't know whatever we're talking about. So pretend I'm saying what I'm supposed to be saying. So if you could tell us a little bit about your background your career path you know how you ended up in your current role. Just give us a little insight into how you got where you are today. Well thank you. That's a great question to start with. First I went to kindergarten and then I went to elementary school and then I went to college and then I got a graduate degree and then I got a job. Wonderful. That's such an interesting background. I really appreciate you telling us all about that. I think that's really going to be helpful. It's helpful to hear some different experiences and backgrounds in public health to see where people get to. I don't know what I'm saying. So I think that was a great little bullet for a recording. And hopefully I mean I'm I tried to hold my little microphone thing up but I've been moving it up and down on purpose to see if it sounds different when we hear the recording. So that I know and I can also I think maybe we do this again and I can try my air pods. I can you know I think we test out some different things. And I'm sitting here like here. Can you hear me speaking here. Yes. Yes. About like. Yes. You know the other thing I did and I could do more of this I put around like my office that I'm in I put pillows and blankets and things like kind of muffle the sound because that one webinar that they had about the. Some of the things I don't think were helpful to us because they were webinar based but recording the audio I think a lot of that was nothing I didn't think about putting up blankets or pillows or anything around. So we can kind of see if that helps with any echoey sound. But I can always put more up. Yeah. Well I mean that's what you especially during COVID. I mean you'll hear people who do podcasting like yeah I'm in the closet. Yeah. I think that's why. Well that's the other thing I do. I do have one closet that I could probably set up a station and if I needed to if that would be better. So we'll have to see. But that's the other thing about having the video on is that's like that's part of why I'm like I don't know because I don't know my video might not look very good if I'm in a dark closet. Right. And this is good too because I've got. Well this is interesting. OK. For myself I'm talking toward my wall and I'm talking towards the window which is a different kind of yeah bounce back. Yeah. And I don't know if our listeners are even you know some of the stuff I would think are people who are way up here. I agree. Audio engineers and they're like oh yeah you hear the difference. I'm like no. I agree because I think I mean I listen to podcasts that have good audio and some that don't have great audio. But if the if what they're talking about is interesting then. I mean it matters but it's not like the end of the world. It's not perfectly clear sometimes like as long as you can understand what the person saying and it's not there's not a distracting background noise. I think that's the big thing we don't want like. Yeah. Yeah. Or some kind of ringing or something. We don't want that. All right. So I'm going to stop our recording.
