Clair de Lune

Key Signature: B♭ minor Time Signature: 3/4 Tempo: Larghetto cantabile (a singable, moderately slow tempo) Difficulty: Beginner Gabriel Fauré’s *Clair de lune*, Op. 46 No. 2 (1887), is his first musical setting of a poem by Paul Verlaine. Through its restrained vocal line and delicate, quasi-plucked piano accompaniment, Fauré creates an atmosphere of moonlit fantasy, where beauty and melancholy seem to exist side by side.
