Three friends discuss their experiences starting a podcast and the lessons they've learned, including the importance of patience and failure. They also discuss the value of creative outlets and finding joy in the daily grind. They touch on the story of Sisyphus and the concept of choosing happiness. The conversation shifts to music and learning new skills, with one friend sharing their experience with playing the piano and guitar. They discuss the importance of motivation and finding the right learning style. Despite their initial struggles with the podcast, they feel that they've learned and grown from the experience. Alright so you can stop that. You can stop that. Do you ever think about what we've learned from this little experience of trying to start a podcast? Patience. Patience. The importance of failure. I do. I learned that there was a lot of idiots every day. One hour of just starting out on this podcast. I know. We just went full circle. I feel like we did unequivocally learn a good bit. We can definitely say that we can learn a lot of stuff in one hour. In terms of not knowing how Adachi works and where I am now, I'm kind of like... I feel like I've gone up a belt. I don't know if it'd be Taekwondo or Jiu-Jitsu belt, but I don't think so. You know a little more than you knew. I just split a stereo track into mono tracks now, which is nice. Wow. Yeah, I'm probably more pissed off than I was before we started. A little more enthusiastic, but it's alright. It's alright. We're also doing this at the end of the year, right? Yeah. Who would guess that we would try to do a podcast? I mean we've been talking about it forever. Yeah. Maybe not with you. I've actually been thinking a podcast is actually one of the greatest tools this last few years has brought. Tools? Yes, it's a great tool. I think it's important. I think it's very fair to say that we're all creative people. Yeah, that's right. I know from my own personal experience, I don't really have a creative outlet other than... I have things that I work on, but never things that I've completed. That's kind of the problem for me. I'm not trying to flex, but I feel like I have important thoughts, but never get them out. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's a sad thing to exist. It's a sad reality. Everybody faces that sometimes. So the podcast is going to be your way of... It's not my podcast. There's three people in it. Well, yeah, but this is going to be one of your outlets that you're going to use. Everything you do, everything you try to do is always an outlet for something. It's an opportunity more than an obstacle or something. I feel like it's an important perspective. Because people... I feel like I'm already about to rant within the first three minutes. Yeah, keep going. No, I mean... You're good. People try... I feel like, especially in a Western society, we really take a lot of the spiritual aspects, even the mundane things we do. Yeah. There's the story of Sisyphus. But I think the story of Sisyphus, it resonates with some people because it's relevant to all of us. That's me doing dishes every day, bro. No, I'm saying... That's me cleaning the kitchen. You know? Every single fucking day. Just... Gotta do it. That's what I'm saying. And I have... It's such a large boulder, right? We're on a daily cycle of dealing with random shit. And so is Sisyphus. But Sisyphus eventually figures out how to be happy rolling the boulder. And we're just kind of rolling the boulder. Does he really? Yeah. I didn't know that part of the myth. No, that's the whole point of the story, is he winds up happy. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. I thought the point of it was for him to find the happiness. He found it, bro. That's the whole point. That's the thing. Happiness is not even found. It's recognized. Yeah. When you recognize that you're actually happy in an environment, that's the moment you start to realize that you choose to be happy every time. So it's a decision. It's not more of something that comes around. No, it's a decision to have it, stick it around you. Yeah. And like I was saying, this isn't my podcast, but my motivation for it is... It's important for me to find that joy in rolling up the boulder. Yeah. Because that's kind of what we're all doing. Yeah. We've all got jobs. You don't have school. You guys don't have school. No, we don't. I'm the educated lead. Yeah. Y'all are my fleers. I think it is, yeah. That's the boulder we all roll. In jazz, you make music. So I think you've found joy in that. Me and Jamil are like suckies. We're lame. You guys haven't gone to a concert. We have gone to a concert. Plenty, plenty. We've gone to multiple concerts. I've been to one. I've gone to... We've gone to a few too. We went to a few this year. I went to three with you. Two. You went to two with me. I've gone to like eight or nine concerts honestly. Yeah. The question is how much music have you made? I don't make any music. What's your art? I feel like I'm able to appreciate it on such a deep level. At least I feel I do. Because I don't personally think I have that gift. Do you practice? No. So if you did have it, how would you know? No, but I tried playing piano when I was a kid. I was horrible at it. Then I tried... Everyone sucks at everything when they're a kid. I don't know. Especially the first time. Maybe I should give it a chance. Maybe I should try. When was the last time you gave cool shit a chance? Huh? When was the last time you gave cool shit a chance? Cool shit? Yeah. I know that. Me and Ellie played some piano here a couple weeks back. You said you felt something that time. I remember you telling me something that time. I enjoyed it, yeah. Like... Ever since then, you haven't touched any piano. Like you haven't played any piano. No. And that's why you haven't felt that emotion again. Alright, alright. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. I appreciate music very much. I understand the emphasis. Yeah. Very, very irrelevant. Or I guess relevant to the conversation. But irrelevant to you specifically. Another friend of mine, his name is Jay. Just randomly invited me to a guitar center. To mess around. Show each other some songs. But I haven't played guitar in like two years. Maybe more like a year or two year and a half. But it's... I see. You have to have a reason for doing it. You know what I mean? Just the invitation was enough for me to pick it back up. Now I actually... Now that I've let my experience go to rest. And I guess heal up for lack of a better word. Now things feel so much easier to me. Exactly. Yeah, just revisiting it. Like singing was a really big issue for me. But now it's not. It's not complicated for me to do. Singing and playing the guitar used to be a very complicated issue. But now it feels much more intuitive. I understand that feeling completely. I mean, last time I was playing the guitar you actually left in the house. Not long ago. I take it out and start playing a little bit. Yeah. I remember the way I used to learn before. I just went straight to YouTube. Yeah. And find a song I wanted to learn. And then I start picking it up from there. But I don't know nothing. I never took classes before. Never took classes of playing the guitar. I just learned. You just YouTube that shit? Yep. I just YouTube mastered that shit. But YouTube is such a great tool. I know. I love YouTube. There's a really good quote. And I think it's from Benjamin Franklin. But it's something along the lines of you can never teach a man to do anything. Only help him teach himself. Yeah. That's the thing I realized. Whoa. Yeah, I've taken guitar classes before. But they sucked for me. Not because the instructor was bad. The instructor was amazing. Yeah. The thing is I wasn't motivated to maybe practice what he wanted me to learn. But I wasn't motivated to attend those classes. So it was wasteful. For him and for me I would say. Yeah. I mean some people. There's also a saying that your trash is a treasure for someone else. That's one of the things I've heard so far. And it's probably. It sounds rude. But it's true. Yeah. Whatever I consider trash or something that at the moment is not great. I wish I could have some guitar classes right now. And I just start playing it and start getting better at it. But it's because sometimes you found some sort of a. Oh, your talent is just a diamond not being polished yet. Yeah. Well, here's the thing is like my learning style. And this is. It sounds like something from Rick and Morty. Like I can only do the things that I want to do. Like. Exactly. Yeah. Like the things I learn on guitar are not from like. I would say maybe on occasion. Like I go out of my way to like learn about guitar theory. But like when I learn how to do like something cool on the guitar. Like bends or chords. Or bar chords I meant to say. It's because of like I learned the song that happened to have those things. Exactly. Me too. Yeah. Same story here. Yeah. But those are the things that like. Those work for me. And I wonder if there's. Maybe it's that I'm not disciplined enough. But like. As soon as I can like figure out how to make myself want things. They just kind of start happening. Exactly. It's like a superpower bro. And so far like for example. Jameel has learned to do a lot of stuff in the kitchen. That's one of the things. Yeah. Look at you girl. Why? Yeah. That's true. I guess you do have a point. I can't relate to that. Yeah. I'm the same way. Like I got good at cooking because I wanted to eat good food. I wouldn't say good. I would say better. Dude. Then why do you keep eating my food? Yeah. Begging me to make you the sandwich before we came on. That was a very good sandwich. I would love another one. Everything I touch is gold man. Except for the first hour trying to set up this podcast. You're like Midas. Yeah. But I'm not for like the first hour of a podcast. Yeah. That does always suck. Did not go well. I mean. We've learned. That's what matters. Yeah. Yeah. Also like maybe it's for the better that it happened this way. Because we also sounded like we didn't know what we were doing. We sounded like. We didn't know how to form a conversation. No. Sounded like hot dookie. Yeah. Yeah. But also I didn't even tell you guys when we started recording. Yeah. And like I feel comfortable. I mean you're not even comfortable but like good about what we're talking about. Definitely. It's. And that's after an hour of fucking up constantly. Yeah. Crazy how that happened. Yeah dude. It's kind of. I don't know. It felt longer than an hour. It was longer than an hour. It felt longer. I'm running down. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. My Instagram reels were getting boring you know. Yeah. Yeah. That was really great. But yeah. Nonetheless I feel like the world has problems and we have all the answers. Yeah. It's just that we don't speak. I don't know about all the answers. Well I know we don't have all the answers. Well. But people don't want to hear. So that's what we'll call them. It's called marketing bro. What a fucking way to start. No. Hey. I mean. No I'm serious. You can't. You can't teach a man anything. We can't tell people the truth. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
